Metallica - Purify Lyrics

Really cool and heavy track! By no means am I suggesting that ST Anger is one of Metallica’s best albums... In saying that, ST Anger is different and unique in it’s own way plus I quite enjoy the heavy sounding drums particularly on a good stereo! Being an angry and emotional album, it’s going to be loud and aggressive including pounding drums. There will only ever be one ST Anger so appreciate the album for what it is because after all, it’s a part of Metallica’s history. I know some people will say “thank goodness there’l just be one ST Anger”, then I say why do you keep revisiting it?

God, this song is so disgusting, I fucking love it. The garbage snare, the claustrophobic sound, the half solos.

There was a time when I thought this was Metallica's absolute worst song out there. But despite the terrible production, there is something very very likable about this.

I think it might be the perfect song to symbolize just how incredibly turbulent the period was for this band. Chaotic. And the raw emotion of this song is like a perfect metaphor for the frustration the band was going through.

The mixing of the St Anger album might've been a little messy, and that snare is noticeably "different" than most preferred snare tones for drummers, but I do love a lot of the riffs in this album

one could call death magnetic's production or mastering poor due to the compression, yet one could still find it pleasant to listen to, as i've seen many people say they do, yet it could be examined that the production itself is indeed poor. nothing is so black and white that calling something poor means that it cannot be good in any respect. hence the saying 'it's so bad, it's good'.

I.e nu/alt metal bands aren't known for how their songs are almost always stuffed with solos, but because this is Metallica we're talking about, not having solos is a "bad" thing.
