You are wrong the only gas station that was ever in Lampe Missouri is called Ha Bob's, this song is about Harold's Super Service in Harrison Arkansas.
Also Merle Haggard is my second cousin we have the same grandmother / great grandmother his song about Grandma harp is my great-grandmother. We are tied in another way he sings the song about Modesto California where I was born.

This song was wrote about Harold’s super service in harrison arkansas when Merle’s tour bus broke down and Harold came and fixed it

That's not true.

This song was written for Merle Haggard. The writer B.Wayne stopped by my grandfathers gas station in Lampe Mo. back in the 70's and got to know each other. He wrote the song while getting his MODEL A repaired. Back then it was actually Harolds Market and car repair.

Always wondered about the origins of the song. Thanks for the story.

Great song on a great CD which I found after a lot of hunting. glad as manay folks have covered this as they have-it's a cool song.

When "Fighten Side" came out, My Momma bought it, I loved this cut so much, I'd sneak the LP off to my bedroom at night and paly it with headphones on my cheap little stereo turntable over and over till I'd fall asleep.. I have been looking for this song for about two years now. Thank you so much for uploading the track. You have made an ol Arkansas boy mighty happy.

i asked merle at renfro valley if he would do this song...he siad he didnt remember the words!! i told him i did! lol...he asked if i wanted to get up and do it!! isaid hell yeah!..he luaghed and went on with the show! i wished i could have gotten up there with the hag! that would have been awsome! hahahaha
