Menzel, Idina - What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? Lyrics

Maybe it's much too early in the game
Aah, but I thought I'd ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve?

Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year
New Year's Eve

Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of a thousand invitations
You received

Aah, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance, baby
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve?
Ohhh...

Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of a thousand invitations
You received
Ohh...

But in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
Tell me what are you doing New Year's Eve?

The arrangement on this is nothing short of genius.  Everything about this recording, including Menzel's performance, is absolutely brilliant.  If Frank Loesser were alive to hear this, he would have peed his pants.  And the arranger who put this together is proof that music today has evolved to something much, much greater than it ever was in the past.

    h.... ....

I'm fairly certain Nelson Riddle, Phil Spector and Quincy Jones, to name a few, would have something to say about that.  If you honestly think this overblown explosion of sickly sweet sentiment, uncontrolled vocal and wildly careering strings is anything other than filler for a listless album from a listless artist, then you, sir, don't know your arse from your fucking elbow.

    h.... ....

Obviously spoken by someone who identifies his own lack of expertise by putting Phil Spector and Quincy Jones in the same sentence.  (Serious musicians and arrangers know that Spector was a fake and Jones a genius.)  And by the way, when you write "careering", you make it clear to folks with a normal education that you couldn't possibly have graduated kindergarten.  We're all anxious to read your response since it's pleasing to see just how far you can insert your undersized head up through your anal sphincter and do it with such ease.

    h.... ....

Congratulations, Fuckstick, you spotted a typo; one would imagine such triumphs do much to compensate for your obvious insecurities.  You speak with such authority: 'serious musicians and arrangers...'  The obvious assumption one must make is that you consider yourself to be among this lofty high council.  Well... sorry to burst your bubble, old bean, but you're nothing more than a virtual cockend and a musical charlatan.

You choose THIS track to represent the zenith of popular music... it's Idina Menzel... Idina fucking Menzel... you preening, posturing blaggard.  I imagine you're the type of guy who considers Mantovani a subversive genius... you've probably got a few of those execrable Jackie Gleason albums in your collection, too, hahahaha!  Forgive me, I usually hate people who resort to laughter in any retort, but you genuinely tickle me.

If I wasn't convinced before, I certainly am now, that you are little more than a moronic fragment of cretinous phlegm (pardon the disgusting imagery).

    h.... ....

Thank you.  That is the response we were expecting.

  13. P.... P....

This is beautiful. How come I never heard this before? It feels like my ears have been missing something.

    P.... P....

I don't know, either.  It first came out in the 50s and has been recorded by some of the greatest artists in the history of music... It could be because you've been listening to shit music all this time.  Just a guess.

    P.... P....

@JonnyContagious No I listen to the classics all the time and I listen to Christmas music every year. I never have ever heard this song before until now. Happy New Year asshole.

    P.... P....

@Pam Pavelka Maybe you fell asleep for a bit while you were 'listening to the classics' and missed it... again... and again... and again... Quite a feat. Here's to you, Asswipe.

  14. C.... R....

When the bells all ring and the horns all blow
And the couples we know are fondly kissing.
Will I be with you or will I be among the missing?

Maybe it's much too early in the game
Ooh, but I thought I'd ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year's
    New Year's eve?

Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night
    Welcoming in the New Year
    New Year's eve

    Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
    Out of a thousand invitations
    You received

Ooh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance:
What are you doing New Year's
    New Year's Eve?

  15. E.... T....

Now this version is the only one that should be played every New Year's Eve.

    E.... T....

Maybe for a Disney themed NYE party
