Always a delightful break from Meatloaf's signature sound. His style is normal on this track, but the band has a complete style overhaul. Its a damn good 'shake the system' deviation.

Meat Loaf worked on the Tenacious D movie "The Pick of Destiny" (which was an awesome movie), and he also performed vocals, alongside Ronnie James Dio and Jack Black on the track "Kickapoo" (which was fucking great!). Don't be so ignorant before you're even sure what the original poster was referring to, because telling others who are fans of the same shit as we are to "fuck off", etc is the type of unnecessary bullshit that continuously makes us rock/metal fans look like arrogant pricks.

Alright also, some of you are confused.. this album did not drop in '06. It was released in stores on Halloween of 2007.  I still have the bag from when I bought my album which I keep my 3 CD's in. It has the release date on it. 10.31.2007

I was raised on the bat out of hell series.. I currently own Bat out of hell 1, 2 ,and 3.  Those of you who only have herd  # 3 should look up the 2 that came before. The fist one and second have a long break before they were released due to the fact Meatloaf got cancer.. After he recovered he made the 2nd album...u should give it a listen...I prefer the 2nd album to the third. The first was also good.

I don't know what to make of this song, Meatloaf is a great musician but this just doesn't have the same depth as his other songs. It's a real shame that Jim Steinman didn't finish the Bat Out of Hell saga with Meat.

I know this comment is years old now, but this is just the album opener (and what a kick-ass opener it was!)...the third installment of the "Bat" series is incredibly brilliant, even without Jim Steinman. Jim is an absolute genius who played an immensely large role in Meat Loaf's career, there's no possible way of denying that, but people were very quick to slag this album off due to Jim's absence and Meat Loaf became very upset and bummed about that, simply because he put his all into this album. Songs like "Blind As A Bat" could have fit between any two tracks on the first two "Bat Out of Hell" records, which is an incredibly hard feat to achieve in itself, but adding in his amazingly powerful vocal performances on this record for a man his age...he deserves complete respect for pulling this off. I hope you've given the entire album a chance since this comment, because I'm sure as a Meat Loaf fan, or just even a fan of rock/metal music in general, you'd thoroughly enjoy this masterpiece. 🤘

As Dave Grohl stated, we can put our own interpretations in lyrics: to me, it's about an individual that became such a monster that any means of redemption are impossible for him, the song is actually the breaking point of his last shred of morale before he finally gives in to the Monster inside him.

I have to admit I thought nu-metal was a stretch for Meat, but he has the power to pull it off - even close to sixty here.
