Very underrated song.. this was always one of my favourite off of Live Like You Were Dying (though the whole album was amazing)

My life wasn’t exactly like this story, but I still tear up. My Dad had anger problems and my mom had depression (what a combination). Both were irrational many times and neglected each other. Truth be told, they both loved me, they were just really messed up. With songs like this I often hear God. He says take my hand and we will walk this path together. Because of my past, the line that gives me the most hope is “May you find the love of a girl and take her by the hand… walk like a man.”

The fact of how messed up some families are with drinking problems and abuse. its a scary thought. this song should send out a message to everyone.

my brother was abusive towards my family, my mom and me, i beat the shit out of him because i was sick of it. we all dealt with it and are healing. but it did make me more compassionate towards people and im glad for that at least.

you know what, I wouldnt take any of it back. It made me who I am, and I'm stronger then I could have ever been. I'm stronger then my dad will ever be, and maybe the day I forgive him will be the day I'm truly, honest to God, a man. I've listened to Tim all my life, my dad loved him, so i loved him and I know So many of his songs. His songs are real country and he seems like a great guy not stuck up, ya know?
