McClinton, Delbert - Two More Bottles Of Wine Lyrics

We came out west together with a common desire
The fever we had mighta set the West Coast on fire
Two months later, got trouble in time
Maggie moved out and left me behind
But it's all right 'cause it's midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

The way she left sure turned my head around
Seemed like overnight she just up and put me down
Ain't gonna let it bother me today
I been workin' and I'm too tired anyway
But it's all right 'cause it's midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

I'm sixteen hundred miles from the people, I know
Been doin' all I can but opportunity sure come slow
Thought I'd be a star by today
But I'm sweepin' out a warehouse in west L.A.
But it's all right 'cause it's midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

I'm sixteen hundred miles from the people, I know
Been doin' all I can but opportunity sure come slow
Thought I'd be a star by today
But I'm sweepin' out a warehouse in west L.A.
But it's all right 'cause it's midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

Yeah, it's all right 'cause it's midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine
Yeah, all right 'cause it's Midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

I never understood why this old boy didn't really make it big. I think he didn't want to. 1st saw him on IMUS IN THE MORNING. I went to the Ogden Theater in Denver and saw him live. Wasn't a sell-out but the performance was. Go figure?

As a stagehand for 30+ years... you may be right... some folks just can't do music for sale. Hes not the only one. I've seen downright misery backstage. But they smile and wave to the crowd. Imagine being true to your music but bullshit to yourself....🤔

This first and definitive version is from the 1975 'Victim Of Life's Circumstances' Album.

Written Delbert McClinton & first by Emmylou Harris who had a No 1 US Country hit in 1978 with her cover of it. He recorded it in 1979

yea, I've got it on the Keeper of the Flame album. Now matter where/if he changes the tempo, key, whatever, it is still a killer song as is he and his music. Only have been able to see/hear him live 1 time, darn. Smaller club/place in Denver quite some years ago, passed him on the way to the head. One of those great nights because we got to listen to another real Texas blues man. Boz Scaggs is another great one!!!

This comment is edited. My original comment was: "Not the original. the original is on the -79 Keeper Of The Flame album." I was wrong, as D'Ascoyne proved in his answer, and stand corrected. :)

    J.... V....

No, he did it on the LP "Victim of Life's Circumstances" from 1975. This is the original.

Allright! Did not know that he did it twice! I admit that I had no idea of that album, have not seen it hereabouts... Have to check it out! Thanks!
