I love this song but knew the first time I heard it that Paul couldn’t have written this alone, too edgy.

Too much of a profound statement was made in this very song. People that have never meant to officially be in a relationship can love each other dearly, because more than likely, they can never forget how much amazing romance they shared in a past life.

Both are good and it's nice to have different versions of one song :) For me also this one is better.

Have you heard the demo? It's lightning in a bottle. This version is a nice album filler track...but compared to the demo it's overproduced, overthought, too safe, and most of all... missing Elvis C. Their chemistry on the demo is magic.

The best thing Paul could do right now Oct.2,2018 would be to take his demo,and master it with other instruments,and balance the tracks ,and use his demo vocal, which blows this away . He’s not letting it all out here like he was on the demo, even changed parts of the melody, he brought it down. I can’t believe his band at this time didn’t tell him, “ sing it like your demo “ ... Great balls out Mccartney vocal can’t be beat .

The acoustic demo is unbelievable . Paul lets it all out on the demo. There’s something to be said of getting a song down in its nascent stages . The demo blows this rendition away.

A true classic. Not sure about the production though.

you should check out the 1987 demo version he recorded with Elvis Costello on piano and backing vocal, Macca on lead and guitar ...raw, powerful, amazing, magic in the room

Pales in comparison to the demo he did with EC. Costello's voice meshed perfectly with MACA'S, providing the salt to the sweetness that John used to provide. They recorded a bunch of tunes together, including this one, definitely enough for an album. Some are on Paul's Flowers In The Dirt, some on Elvis' Spike, the rest can be found on YouTube.

Or all together on the new extended 2 cd version of Flowers in the Dirt.

I agree with Gary. as good as th this version is, the demo with elvis was even better, flaws and all. It was more raw and daring in its vocal attempts. Im not sure why this song never got.more play.

Wow, this song is so perfect...that bridge is unbelievable. I know this is just Paul but both John and Paul always wrote the most awesome bridges. John's in "Beautiful Boy" is another gorgeous one. This whole album is fantastic. I loved this era for Paul. "Flowers in the Dirt" is another have mine.
