Mayer, John - Great Indoors Lyrics
Check your pulse it's proof that you're not listening to
The call your life's been issuing you
The rhythm of a line of idle days
Scared of a world outside you should go explore
The great indoors
Lamplight makes the shadows play
And posters take the walls away
The T.V. is your window pane
The view won't let you down
So put your faith in a late night show
I bet you didn't even know
Depends on how far out you go
The channel numbers change
Scared of a world outside you should go explore
Pull all the shades and wander the great indoors
Though lately I can't blame you
I have seen the world
And sometimes wish your room had room for two
So go unlock the door
And find what you are here for
Leave the great indoors
Please leave the great indoors
Check your pulse it's proof that you're not listening to
The call your life's been issuing you
The rhythm of a line of idle days

17 years and still sound good. Timeless piece.
Long drive to the casino to play poker is the memory created by this song
It takes me back to when I used to listen to good Neil Young songs back in the ,70's and get really good energy from it. Different music-same feeling. A feeling of creativity!
Always come back to his first stuff. They're so "innocent". :)
One of my favorites, followed by St. Patrick's..
Love it
This entire album only gets better the older I get.

this man speaks about life thanks john mayer
Memories from being a kid in the early 2000s. After a long day of playing with my neighborhood friends Id come home for dinner and my mom would usually have this playing. Good times...
Such a magnificent song. I'd say its in my all time top 100 songs.
I would hate to hear your other 99 songs. This shit is straight up GAY
+glyde69 Have you even heard the lyrics
+spaceydecember It's a precious song, my favourite of all time...
glyde69 It’s very cool how you said this song is gay. Good job!
When I was a little kid music was better..now I'm a little older and it's just not the same
music put it mark on special things when your a kid. i miss it.
Say that to people who was born between 1950-1970
@hownottodie I'm gonna troll you hard son. Radiohead has been around waaaay before this song. John Mayer was 8 when radiohead started
One of my favorites
Agoraphobic anthem
It's 4.30 a.m. and i'm drinking belgian beer o this!
This record took me from mere pop/rock/indie power/bar chords to that beautiful new horizon of jazz/blues influenced guitar. John Mayer changed the landscape in 2001 for singer/songwriters, all the while influencing an entire generation yet to be fully realized.
In 2001, I was 13. John Mayer inspired me to pick up and learn to play the guitar that year.
God...this song brings me back memories when I was in kindergarten....2001....I miss those years...too bad I'm only in 10th grade and I got to start to put my childish things away. I'm gonna try not to let that happen XD
Hey buddy
How're you now.
Chrelizorter says it best. the melody of this song is breathtaking. that is so well phrased. i think that's what makes john a great musician; he's not all about technicality and being skilled at guitar, he takes the time to write melodies that can strike a heart. on a side note, is anyone having problems "replying" comments. i'd really like to applaud Chrelizorter, but i can't seem to reply.
why are people always leaving comments now saying ' im 16 and i listen to this! " Not that mind blowing.
i was in kindergarten...
a see alot of radiohead in this song.......homesick alien....john had his influences also from radioheads music
I love to listen to this song when it is pouring outside....
What! Where have i been??..just heard this for the first time O_o.......the man is a freakn legend!!! <3
Almost as good as spongebob's indoors song
Sitting here in my room and haven't got a place to be when I listen to this.
i lov this song. Its gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood
Been listening to this whilst skiing in the Alps this week.... Epic, isn't the word....
when i was young i listened to this album in the car all the time! early exposure to good music
@FestFalang be glad you have noticed that this album is so greatt! That people dont acknowledge this album, doesn't mean its bad.. There are stupid people on this world
@FestFalang You pretty much nailed it. I always thought "Room for Squares" was my life while I was in my 20s and single (I'm 31 and married now). Back then, I could relate to EVERY song on that album, especially "Great Indoors."
ive miss this song ive been gone away and i miss freedom and the great out doors in the freeworld
is there a right word to even begin to describe this song?
nice song i love it but is that john mayer sitting down???! :)
