What an amazing change in style. Still sounds like mayday, but they've matured and changed enough to still be interesting and fresh. I'm a huge fan of their first three albums, and I'm just a big a fan of this one. Kind of reminds me of Brand New, who is also amazing.

I freaking love this song and all of "Black Lines" but I can't help but feel that Jason would've thrived on the heavier music. Jake did an amazing job tho!!!

This sounds more like Armor for Sleep or Anberlin than it does "true" Mayday Parade. I like it, though, it's a nice stylistic change.

How has this band survived for so long after Jason left?

Of course it survived, why wouldn't it? Mayday Parade without Jason is still Mayday Parade, but Jason without Mayday Parade is just Jason... I never understood why people acted like Jason is some kind of god and was the only reason why Mayday Parade was worth a listen.
They are pretty damn good the way they are right know, I don't think they lack "Jason" at all :)

As a mayday parade fan for about 5 years now I can only say their music has changed and my music taste has also changed through the years. therefore , I am enjoying this music and I am happy for their accomplishments. This band has always been there for me and I will always love every last breath they put into their music 💙
