Maureen McGovern - We May Never Love Like This Again Lyrics
We may never love like this again
Don't stop the flow
We can't let go
We may never love like this again
And touch the sky
So, while we're here
Let's give out all
Release the dreams inside us
And set them free
Oh, while we're here
Let's leave a mark
There's a candle in the dark
It's here to guide us
But through the days
Beyond the hills
I'll see you reaching out to hold me
I don't know just where or when
Still, I'm sure
We'll love again
We'll love again
We'll love again
(We may never love like this again)
We'll love again
(We may never love like this again)

Maureen McGovern We May Never Love Like This Again Comments
Watched it again yesterday, brilliant film, still brings a tear to my eye.
I love both The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno but the building was going to burn because O.J. Simpson was the chief of security hehe
my fav disaster movie
Mal ehrlich.
Remember watching this movie in 1974 . My uncle brought me and cousins with my untie. Uncle pass in 2016 age 72. Stroke. 70s and 80s, happiest time of my life. Now at 53, life is filled with responsibility and burden. Married with 2 kids and parents are old now . A good movie with a beautiful song from a good old days...
Hermosa cancion ..
Do filme ''Inferno na Torre'' . Assisti esse filme quando ainda morava em Porto Alegre, lá no comecinho dos anos 70. Musica linda.
Please, do someone have a video with her talking about her featuring on the movie? Thanks.
The whole song! Thank you. A rather Carpenters-like song, made even more haunting by the subject matter of the film.
Sleep in heavenly peace Maureen.
Hey, she`s still live! (thanks God), here is: www.maureenmcgovern.com
The burning question did she make it out of the tower?
I hope so or they put the fire breaking out only on movie scenes, after she had gone away...
0:07 This ones for you Steve and Paul. Legendary actors...We love ya 😢😭😂🎗♱💖🎥📽🎬
Enjoy everyday of your life ...
Wonderful..
Joelma 1974.
Sergio Lima, agora, falta o Chimbinha kkkkkkkkkkkk
Merci, c'est juste génial d'avoir pu retrouver cette chanson perdue au milieu d'un film grandiose au casting époustouflant.
ONE OF MY TOP MOVIES OF ALL TIME.....Beautiful acting, stunning costumes and hairstyling, so 1970's, moving action. And of course this stunning theme song. Viewed it yesterday on one of our local Cable throwback channels..... Worth the 21/2 hrs of viewing.
Never felt the time going by..... Awesome.
Cool song
we may never attach the pearl horbor
What is better The Morning After Or We May Never Love Like This Again.
Both equally great.
She's the queen
Maureen
Great song
Música maravilhosa.Inferno na Torre.Grande filme.
Infierno en la Torre...
Ya con esto...me subscribo...
Gracias...
Song started off OK, and became an over-produced sacharine mess by the end....ala Barry Manilow songs.
In your opinion.....many of us like it, along with Barry Manilow.
@carroll1106 DUH!
@carroll1106, his songs are very beauty too. I love 'Ships' and 'Ready to take a chance again' specially.
If you came here for 'Skyscraper' please go away. Thank you.
Recuerdo de la. Película infierno en la torre 1975.
a favorite lady singer-disaster movie singer but that VOICE-a true HIT!
Infierno en la torre se llamaba la pelicula, es verdad, no me acordaba
So sad to know that that one building they are lighting is one of the twin towers ! Did you know that ! God Bless you all xoxoxo
The fire consumes the Tower --- and it doesn't collapse! Buy the Twin Towers did, big time! Nothing to see here, folks, let's move on.
You really don't know physics, do you? There's a huge difference....you're comparing apples and oranges.
0:53 -- That was quite the "candle in the dark" and it didn't guide anyone.
What "candle in the dark" reminds me - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_TUPPlD7_U
Song from the Paul Newman/Steve McQueen disaster movie "The Towering Inferno". Names like OJ Simpson, Fred Astaire, and Richard Chamberlain are in it.
Happy Birthday 🎂 Maureen McGovern 🎁🎈 🎉 🎊 🌹
How did you put these little drawings?
So what happened to Maureen in the movie? Did she die or live?
Cameo for the party only; she is not in the rest of the movie (I checked on this long ago). Imagine the singer had an argument with the drummer and went home early.
@misterlyle, but how does she could had gone? I saw the movie yesterday and the scene of her singing happens after the fire starting and the party where she was singin was over 181 floor, exactely where the fire started.
@Taty Star The fire burned a long time before it began to spread through the building (which was mostly empty). That would allow many people to use the elevators for a while.
@misterlyle, UFS, thanks a lot, breathing relieve now... and thanks God she`s NOT on remake (yes, there`s a remake from this movie, made in Korea, called "The Tower")...
Underrated gem from Maureen ..Powerful
Absolutely !!!
is it me,or do maureen McGoverns songs sound depressing?
Nope, try this one: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=maureen+mcgovern+theme+from+angie And also 'Can You Read My Mind' from Superman.
@carroll1106, I don`t think so, but depends on moments you are and listen to them. Love this song, Poseidon and theme from Superman too.
Which Irwin Allen film was better? Was it "The Towering Inferno" or was it "The Poseidon Adventure"?
I give match, two great movies, I'm 53 years old watched both movies in theater great memories. Regards from Mexico
The Poseidon Adventure, is by far, the best of the two!
I think Poseidon Adventure was better although I loved Inferno also. But perhaps being on a ship, it seemed more gargantuan and mythical. The burning building theme didn't have the same affect I don't feel. Although, interestingly, it prefigured the world trade centre attacks of 9/11 and is eerie when seen in that light. They used to pack these disaster movies with so many stars, and it seemed to be the fashion to resurrect old actors like Fred Astaire in these movies. I'm not sure why they did that. As much as I loved Fred Astaire in his heyday, he was an odd and bizarre casting choice for that film.
I Am My Greatest Mistake the towering inferno is better
A few years ago, a local theater played The Towering Inferno to a packed house (people had to be turned away). It was half-filled with those who saw it originally and the millennials who had never seen it. The former felt nostalgic; the latter were amazed that a movie using miniatures and models rather than computers could be so good.
Inpri, it must be cool...
Lembro bem assisti este filme no cinema Dezembro de 1974, o Brasil é número um em produção de novela mais o americano em matéria de filme mesmo a 43 anos atrás não tem não.
Nelson de Recife.
Awesome song! I just watched *"The Towering Inferno."* Awesome movie!
would make an excellent music video if you were to remove the fire scenes and people getting burnt and replace them with the couples hugging and kissing
Did you watch the movie? It was all about the love lives of the people involved, and the music went along with it....the disaster meant they may never love like this again. Couples were fighting, having affairs, etc and the disaster brought home the realization of what was truly important. That's what the music was about.
Towering Inferno
IRWIN ALLEN TODAS TUS PELICULAS SERAN ETERNAS ,,,,GOD BLESS YOU
Y sus TV shows...Viaje al Fondo del Mar....el mejor.
Those cars look ancient
Sometimes I wonder if the same strategy to put out the fire as in the Towering Inferno could have been used to put out the fire when the Twin Towers were burning.
I very much doubt that. The Twin Towers surely would not have held million-gallon water tanks at the top of the towers?
Maybe....if the towers had all their water stored on top, which I doubt.
@carroll1106, the Glass tower on the movie`s a miniature they made on studio.
Great movie! Great song! Best Oscar song of 1974!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should have gone to the title song of blazing saddles.
My Best Movie Ever , All Those Casting Was Facinating . I Was a Little Kid When This Movie Came Out .
Best Oscar song for 1974!
( So eerily reminiscent of "The Twin Towers", World Trade Centre. 9/11)
Maureen McGovern is SO beautiful!
Love the song and the movie
a very powerful song
j adore cette chanson
This film is a definitive classic....a MUST SEE
The grandmother of all disaster movies (along with "The Poseidon Adventure"). Seen it so many times.
And "Earthquake." Since both it and this came out the same year (1974), a joke at the time was that they would make a combined sequel to both and call it "Shake and Bake."
One of my favourite was "Titanic", the 1953 version with Clifton Webb & Barbara Stanwick --- and the 'suspended' Catholic priest. Near the end there is a big explosion in the Engine Room. Workers flee up the steel stair case. However the priest is descending a nearby stair case: The workers, seeing him, shout out, "For God's sake, don't go down there!" But the priest replies: "For God's sake I will!"
Yes, the Poseidon Adventure, the 1972 production, the original with Shelly Winters, Leslie Nielson(the Captain!). When asked by the younger reverend to come with them, the old reverend(Gene Hackman) said the iconic line: "No, they need me here." Like a good shepherd, he gave his life for the flock.
@Peter P I have this too and other Titanic`s movies, one of them I love most is A Night to Remember (1958), one the most hystorical happenings of the legendary liner.
An AWESOME cast!!!!
IT WAS REALLY ASHAME THAT ROBERT WAGNER AND SUSAN BLAKLEY BURNT UP IN IT AFTER GETTING THEIR ROCKS OFF MINUTES EARLIER.....................
She didnt burn up, she fell to her death
It was the other Susan in the film (Susan Flannery who was on Days of Our Lives @ that time and for years was on The Bold & the Beautiful) who portrayed Robert Wagner's secretary/lover in the film. Like the other poster said, her character didn't burn up but fell out of a window frame just as the fire was about to reach her - a horrific scene and horrific way to go. Ms. Flannery won a Golden Globe as most promising newcomer for her portrayal of ill-fated Lorrie. BTW I read that Wagner's real-life wife Natalie Wood declined the role. Susan Blakeley played the role of Richard Chamberlain's character's wife who was also the daughter of big boss William Holden's character - her character survived.
LOL THE ELECTRICAL DISCONNECT DOOR JUST POPS OPEN AND FLAMES ERUPT....AND STEVE MC QUEEN PULLS UP IN HIS OLE FORD GALAXY 500 LOL.....FUNNY ASS SHIT MAN...THE BEST PART WAS JUICE SIMPSON PLAYING THE SECURITY CHIEF AND RESCUING A CAT......................LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Very good song and very good film. Love this.
My mom's favorite ...miss her
Another great song by a wonderful vocalist!
Awesome movie and song indeed, unfortunatley this came true in 2001 in New York under other circumstances.
bless those that responded and remember those that gave their lives.
there are too many differences between 9/11 and this movie for it to be necessary for anyone to be reminded of 9/11 by watching The Towering Inferno. 9/11 was real... this movie is fictional. The 3 twin towers were hit by airplanes.. The fires in this lone tower in the movie was caused by faulty wiring. 9/11 happened in New York.... This movie takes place in San Francisco. The trade center collapsed.... The tower in this movie didn't.
I watched the movie several times as i have it on dvd, it never reminds me of 9/11
@FinneganI think there are some similar between the movie and 9/11: the people scare, the rescue, I don`t know if there`s more than these one. But it reminds Joelma building in SP, Brazil, a real happening too, in late 70`s.
Commercials are so EEEEEEEEE-vil!
It's interesting note, during the movie, the San Francisco Firefighters you see with the orange and white panels on the side of their fire helmets signify that, they are personnel assigned to a Truck Company. The San Francisco Firefighters you see with the black fire helmets signify that, those personnel are assigned to an Engine Company. The San Francisco Fire Department, still, to this day, utilize the same exact color-coded system, exactly like they showed in this movie, all those many years ago. It's amazing that, at least sometimes, the more things change, the more things stay the same!!
Can you explain that? In US firefighting circles, what exactly is meant by 'truck company' and engine company'?
La Cuspide de la inspiracion.
I was born in 1960 so I cut my movie teeth on all the great disaster movies of the 1970s. AIRPORT, POSEIDON ADVENTURE, EARTHQUAKE and of course TOWERING INFERNO. Great song, great clip. Thanks for sharing!
Me too. 1960 baby and still enthralled with movies like 1972's Poseidon Adventure for so many reasons. Today with all of the fake CGI, they could never touch this film, let alone improve on it.
@Cynthia Lyman I was born later in 1967 but i do remember all the Disaster flicks of the 1970,s.
@David Jay l just rewatched The Poseidon Adventure last night on the two disc DVD version: lots of special features which were fun and informative. My friends hadn't seen the film since back when it was in theatres in 1973. Such memories for us all.
On this day in 1975 {February 8th} Maureen McGovern performed "We May Never Love This Way Again"* on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...
At the time the song was at #83 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, and that was also its peak position on the chart...
Between 1973 and 1979 she had six Top 100 records; with one making the Top 10 and that one reached #1, "The Morning After"* for two weeks on July 29th, 1973...
* Both "We May Never Love This Way Before" and "The Morning After" won the Academy Award for 'Best Original Song'...
We May never Love Like this Again...
Have you been there to see her in person?
Nice song for one of the most entertaining movies of the 70s.
entered Cashbox Feb 1, 1975
My favorite classic movie song.
a 135 story skyscraper in seismic prone San Francisco...nothing could go wrong there...
+disoriented1 Really! They could have made it more realistic, and placed it in New York, or at least Chicago!
A very great song for a very touching and moving movie.
I've always liked this song--but now, watching this video--it is horribly reminiscent of 9/11.
+NinaPDX1 Others may well share your sentiment. Just after the 9/11 event the Towering Inferno was scheduled to be screened on one of the TV channels in the UK - but it was pulled at very short notice (even though it had been repeated a few times previously) - obviously - it was sensed that events depicted in the film would be too similar to the 9/11 incident.
Can't see how. a plane didn't hit a building in this movie and the building didn't collapse
We may never love like this again
Don't stop the flow
We can't let go
We may never love like this again
And touch the sky
Though we may try
So, while we're here,
Let's give our all,
Release the dreams inside us
And set them free
Oh, while we're here,
Let's leave a mark
There's a candle in the dark
It's here to guide us
We may never love like this again
But through the days,
Beyond the hills,
I'll see you reaching out to hold me
I don't know just where or when
Still, I'm sure
We'll love again
We'll love again
We'll love again
(We may never love like this again)
We'll love again
(We may never love like this again)
(repeat and fade out)
days beyond the haze? a more appropriate lyric for being lost, especially in a smokey fire?
@Cynthia Lyman, I was not there to know... and I`m still searching for this candle LOL beauty song with a strong lyric, very well, Maureen! Ooops, I found the candle LOL - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_TUPPlD7_U
@Taty Star This song was penned on the heels of The Morning After, theme from The Poseidon Adventure, 1972. It didn't enjoy nearly the success of the former, however, the lyrics and melody were again rendered irreplaceable by the incomparable Maureen McGovern. What a beautiful soprano she has.
@Cynthia Lyman, relax, the scene of this video I posted just represent the light of the candle to guide, as the song says. If you`ve been watched Titanic too, I think you`ll understand. And I just answered your question on comment to the lyric the woman above you posted. ('days beyond the haze? a more appropriate lyric for being lost, especially in a smokey fire?' - I wasn`t there to know if it`s apropriated lyric for that happening on the tower) and I´m not comparing Maureen to other singers, I love her too, even I`ve been discovered her only some moths ago, when I was listening to Poseidon`s theme.
Pelicula infierno en la torre
did you make this music video? I have not seen this movie yet.. but I always go back to this video bc its beautiful and perfectly timed.
Thank you - yes, I put this video together with clips from the movie and the movie trailer. Glad you liked it.
+NedNickerson2010 Thanks for uploading this wonderful song :)♡♡♡
Try to see the film or get a copy of it! If you like disaster movie's you'll enjoy "The Towering Inferno."
On the big screen this movie was damn beautiful ...and frightening
Truly one of the more horrid Oscar winning songs... Morning After was so much better
Absolutely. I cannot compare. The others may have been bad that year or they may have had a love for Maureen McGovern. Morning After to me is one of the best songs of all time. Perfection.
The other nominees that year were Benji's Theme (I Feel Love) from Benji, Wherever Love Takes Me from Gold, Little Prince from The Little Prince.... AND BLAZING SADDLES FROM BLAZING SADDLES! How the heck did this beat possibly the most iconic comedy theme song ever written?
Sorry but this one is as good as Morning After. It is her truly magnificent voice that makes them shine.
@Margaret, impossible not have love for her...
@Lee GaryB. who sings these songs???????
素晴らしい曲です。日本で、誰かがカバーして頂けないか、ドラマのテーマ曲にしてほしいなあなんて思っている次第です。
Love her songs!
I remember sitting, in a movie theater, watching this star, filled, disaster film,. I held my breath through the movie! It was a simpler time! Nowadays we have had so many real and unimaginable, tragic events unfold! A movie could never have that same effect on me again! Maureen McGovern's voice always sounded of hope and triumph at the end of a movie! She is a great singer with a lovely voice! I love her voice!
Couldn't have put it better myself tubebitch, watching that clip I was 16 again, sitting in my local Odeon Cinema absolutely spellbound, almost praying that certain people would get out safe, and almost crying when the bloke got his cat back having just learnt of the death of his partner.
Tubebitch 12, I agree with you, specially about Maureen and her songs on movies. Can all you see on this video that she started to sing after the fire breaks out two floors under the party one, how did she went away after singing? One thing`s right: she`s not along the movie (thanks God)
A beautiful song sung by the beautiful Maureen McGovern.
form the classic film Towering Inferno, spectacular!
Beautiful!!!
I only drink Kool-Aid 'cuz OJ's murder
Very beautiful voice.
♥ ♥ ♥
This song won the Oscar for Original Song.
shake and bake flics..
I think she only did these two, Poseidon and Inferno, but the funniest one for me was Ann Turkel did a song in Cassandra Crossing and when it aired on tv, that song was always cut out. I didn't know there was a song until I bought the dvd. Good reason why it was cut out!
FABULOSO TEMA DE LA PELICULA INFIERNO EN LA TORRE DE CINE DE DESASTRE DE LOS AÑOS 70s , Y QUE VOZ TAN ANGELICAL Y MARAVILLOSA LA DE MAUREEN Mc GOVERN, ES UN PLACER ESCUCHARLA
alguien puede alzar la version en español de este tema que fue grabada por Paloma San Basilio y se llama el amor nos puede abandonar....plis
Helo aquí.

@Tarrant1976 Good spotting!
Excellent vid!
My God , did this lady sing in EVERY disaster film of the 70s?
@infinera06 ...LOL !!! Boy, you nailed that one !!!!
@craig9563 me too, I was a small boy to see this film at 1975. I still remembered, my brother brought the ticket for me.
beautiful singer and song..timeless!
oj did it...
