This is probably my favorite performance by McGovern because of the "high part" she sings. I've loved her movie songs and seen her in person. She is one terrific singer.

No... don't be daft. The lyric is by Ira Gershwin... and he also says "Gershwin keeps pounding on tin." and "I give no quarter to Kern or Cole Porter".

Yes, Gershwin is lightly making fun of himself and other popular song writers, in comparison to 'real' composers such as Strauss.

I love her version of The Man I Love, in fact I don't want to hear anyone else's. But I can't find it anywhere and I don't want to go out and buy the CD.
