I love the intro riff and the chorus parts are ok, but the verses suck tbh.

I have finally taken the time to go through Mastadon's discography. What an amazing experience it was. One of the greatest things that has ever graced my ears. How they changed their sound so much and still find a way to KILL IT. Some bands change their sound only to bury themselves.

nonpoint666rocks I don't consider myself to be a mastodon fanboy, I just genuinely like all of their albums. There are some songs I cannot listen to even when I try, but for the most part I would say that none of there work falls below an 8 or a 7.5

It's one of the weaker albums in their discography, though all of Mastodon's albums are good. Some are just better than others​.

I guess to each their own. But personally, this album has a special place in my heart as I first started listening to it when I started university and doing psychedelics for the first time. So many inflective moments with this album. That's why I'd rank it the first

My fav song on the album!. I love classical prog, and these guys are pretty much the only modern band I listen to. They are labeled mainstream, but I don't really agree with it. Crack in the Skye, was more technical than this album, and in my opinion was better, had more depth and it followed that story telling chain like old school prog bands did. This album is still good, although it has a more of a "radio" feel or mainstream, still kicks ass, better than 90% of the mainstream rock.

True musicians don't intentionally avoid certain musical techniques just to avoid the label "mainstream". True musicians leave everything on the table and just write music that sounds good. That's what they did with this song. They wrote a good song. Who cares what style of music it resembles? 

Besides, you kiddies that criticize "mainstream" sounds know little to nothing about harmony. Harmonies like the ones in the verse take time and dedication to put together. They're not "generic" by any means.
