Marty Robbins - Ruby Ann Lyrics
I said hello to the man that tried to win your hand
A long time ago.
I tried to smile as he talked of the days
When he was your beau,
When he talked of his wealth and fame --
Ruby Ann took the hand of this poor, poor man,
Ain't true love a funny thing?
Big man, you got money in your hand,
So what?
You're at a table for two, but still there's only you,
Big shot!
Well, your money can't buy if your power can't hold,
You can't romance your fame --
Ain't true love a funny thing?
Big man, you got money in your hand,
So what?
You're at a table for two, but still there's only you,
Big shot!
Well, your money can't buy if your power can't hold,
You can't romance your fame --
Ruby Ann took the hand of this poor, poor man,
Ain't true love a funny thing?
Ruby Ann took the hand of this poor, poor man,
Ain't true love a funny thing?

:Payed it four times ,what the heck spin again
Money isn't what counts, true love does...
My dad named me Ruby Ann in 1963. I have always loved this song. He died when I was 11 and I can remember him singing this song to me. Great memories.
I love the ride of the symbol during the entire length of the song! Great sound!
I love the piano, mixed with those drums and cymbals, that intro is just a taste of the whole song. What a great music talent he was!
You can't romance your fame..........🎙🎙🎙🎙🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Love this song
Thinkyouknowmusic on Twitter brought me here.
this song went to #18 on the pop charts in 1962!!!
the best no other thing need to be said
There is a real moral in this song. Where is this music today, with a theme that makes you feel good about life? This reminds me of something that just happened in America when middle America walked away from the power people and took the hand of an outsider named Donald. The "Big Man" Liberals and power Republicans are still howling and throwing money at the thing, but it is here to stay.
😁 my moms named Ruby Ann 😁 she would of loved this song
Who would thumb down this song
Marty recorded a jazzy version of this song that was not nearly as good. To add to this Boots Randolph ruined that version by playing sax parts that sounded like a goose gone bad.
thats funny ;)
One of my all time favourite artists, I love marty ' s country records, but this guy could sing rockabilly as well.
Jimmy Rogers songs

Ruby Ann Ruiz
RUVIANNA RUIZ
You have no idea how much I like this song for one reason ;p
This was Marty's last big pop hit in 1963!
This classic always knocked me out.
I've always loved the piano intro. So catchy :-). Wish I could play that - just the intro.
Gotta be Boots Randolph on piano, no?
Uhhh... Boots was a saxophone player, I think. He did that awesome solo on Elvis' Reconsider Baby.
Duh! I meant Floyd Cramer.
Ah, from Heartbreak Hotel fame! Yes, that would definitely make sense :-)!
Alejandro Matanzas almost sounds like Vince guaraldi
Like my favorite song
+Emily - i thank you glad dr. hook didnt piss yall off
I love this song. The minute I heard this I had to write it down to download it.
I can't stand the attitude of people that their money and power can buy them anyone they want. Not me, that's for sure. They can take a hike.
Wow, this would be Marty Robbins LAST single to chart on the American Top 40 Pop Charts! But thank God he went on charting and charting EVERYWHERE else long after this late 1962 hit !
i have a 45 record of this
This song has a rock 'n' roll back beat and is a Jive, so it could be classified as both Rock 'n' roll and country. But why not just listen to it for what it is (a great swinging tune).
What a singer- one of the best!
my fave--my granddaughter's name.
@hallowseve1973 Ruby Ann is not rock n roll, it's country.
I love this song
This song is what rock n roll is all about.
Back in 1962, when this song jumped out of the jukebox in my hometown's soda shop the dance floor always filled up. It had a contagious, danceable beat that we kids loved.
A tremendous bridge from rockabilly to the "Nashville Sound".
One of my greatest favorites of M R.
Maj-Brith H besides don't worry
