Just a beautiful song can listen for hours

First hear in the 70s while a dj at a small college station. On a Gene Price series of albums put out by the armed services. Only heard part of the song. 10 years ago I saw a cd on Amazon that had this song on it, the longer version. That extra verse makes all the difference to the song. Now I see why my deceased father liked him so much.

One of my dads favourites, god bless Marty.

Few singers could ever match him. Elvis, Roy Orbison, maybe. Not many others. What a talent this man had.

I lost my Dad on his 80th birthday this year on the 24th October 2018. He took his last breath listening to this beautiful song. He was such a major fan of Marty Robbins all his life. We also played El Paso City at his funeral for his opening song.

had the sheer pleasure of seeing him many many times...great showman doesnt even come close to describing him. he actually put my little recorder under his piano stool to record for me and can you believe it, turned over my tape when first side ran out....and this from a #1 artist. no other will ever top him...

Such a voice. Practice wont make you have a voice like that it has to be gifted. Id be happy to sing  just one of his songs and have the voice to do it.

mine also... I used to be able to sing like Marty,,,then I lost my voice, a tumor on my vocal cords....cest la vie Marty my favorite since the 50's. Why do we always lose the best so soon?

I never got to see Marty Robbins on stage, but I always heard he was a GREAT SHOW MAN and folks always got their moneys worth when he was performing. After seeing the videos of him on stage, I believe it and I regret never going to see him in person.
