Martha And The Vandellas - Come And Get These Memories Lyrics
Lover, you've gone from me
And left behind so many memories
Here's your old friendship ring
I can't wear it no more
I can't read them any more
Lover, you've gone from me
And left behind so many memories
Here's that old teddy bear
(Come and get it)
That you won for me
At the state fair
(Come and get em)
Give them to your new sweetheart
Lover, you've gone from me
And left behind so many memories
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Come and get em
Come and get em
Come and get em
Here's our old favorite record
(Come and get it)
I can't stand to hear it anymore
Here's some old lingering love
(Come and get it)
It's in my heart and
It's tearing it apart
Because of these memories
I never think of anybody but you
So, come on and get em
'Cause I found me somebody new
Come and get these memories
(Come and get em)
Since you've gone out of my life
So my mind and my
Heart can leave that easy
(Come and get em)
Since you've gone out of my life
Give them to your new love
Give them to your new love
So come on and get these memories
(Come and get em)
Since you've gone out of my life

Found this song out from the openings of Bridesmaids movie from 1989 with Brooke Adams. Great song
I always wondered what this song would have sounded like with Diana Ross on lead and her Supremes
Broccoli Beefed I don’t think it would have sounded any better than this.
@Leebo . It would have sounded just as good or better with Diana's incredible phrasing.

When songs had both taste and meaning
Mary Wilsons lead was better
back in those days motown didnt want other members of the girl groups singing lead vocals out of fear it could screw up their shit if you know what i mean. They had a formula and wanted to keep it that way which is why Martha Reeves was their lead singer. . If this tune was given to Flo Ballard she might have had her first lead vocal hit with the Supremes
Jamerson on bass!
Just like it was yesterday (1964) lol, I can remember sitting in the FOX Theatre, Downtown Detroit watching the MOTOWN REVIEW. I was the the tag along little sister lol I saw them all.. from the Miracles, The Temptations, Little Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes and the list goes on. The complete MOTOWN family of Stars. One of the most cherished memories of my childhood
classic Motown

For once, a video made with some semblance of thought and imagination.
If you was from Philly you had to bop off this, if you couldn't bop in this town you couldn't dance.

I've found a ridiculous number of songs from Mr. Robot from Motown stuff like this to 2015 dubstep. It's crazy. And the comments section for all of them is full of Mr. Robot fans, it's awesome.
God I'm gonna miss that show. There's nothing else like it.

ch to live
what a time it was...........
Motown had been around for a few years, but some consider this the first single (released in early 1963) to have the "Motown sound".
chills here
Loved this song here!!!
this and JimmyMac were their top two.A sad, sentimental song. The boyfriend, although left her for another, was prob getting his head shot off in Nam!
or in Detroit
Lol...though real
saw them at Fox Theatre in 1964
Me too. That trip to New York to see the Motown review changed my life in a very good way.

DAMNNNNNNNNN IT EAST LOS ANGELES ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
ONE OF THE MOST SOULFUL FEMALE GROUPS EVER. THE TEMPO OF THIS SONG IS PERFECT FOR THE BOP.
Life was so good in these years, no terrorists beheading people, just god times, much safer, less problems of racism, the world is going nuts now! So SAD Love this music!
The Govt wasn't adding problems or the media also, when I was growing up in the 60s one of my best friends was a black kid, we didn't see color, today the media really blows it up for ratings! Obama hasn't helped either, what has he done for my black brothers, spent 1.4 BILLION on his 17 vacations, could've helped so many black folks, he is only 1/2 black anyhow. The media just throws gas on the situation. I grew up in No. Cal at the time there wasn't segregation, probably just in the South? Have a great day, Dave
Thanks, hopefully we will rid the world of racism, everyone is the same in GODS eyes, relax everyone, love everyone, life is to short to be a hater! Chill, ENJOY your life, it's much easier on your heart, God bless, Dave
Racism on both sides.i was mugged in Franklin park, Boston in 1965 by a 12 year old black kid.I was 5...he took my change. We never went there again. The whites and Blacks in Boston really hated each other then.It was a 2 way street Guy
But we were dealing with Vietnam in the 60's, right?
Sooooo great! Life seems so good at this moment.
yep - so many memories!!
soul deep
they just dont make them like they use to thats for sure but times do change so
You can say that again :(
Brings back great memories!
Top 20 Girl Group song of 60's. Love it. 1:16 on esp.
GIVE THIS TO YOUR NEW LOVE!!!!!!
Nice video work!
Lovelovelove this track!
Music from the time prior to becoming a political statement, is glorious!
Martha & The Vandella's , one of the best girl groups on the Motown lineup, what an awesome , harmonizing, lovely song.Martha had such a strong beautiful voice. They just don't make it like ole school, played that record to death, thanks so much for the post and memories keep ole school alive.💕💟👍👍👍👌
The absolutely best way to amicably end a relationship!
It'd be great if all big cities were to have at least a couple of huge dance clubs, where they switch it up -- playing different genres different weeknights. They could vary the nights too; e.g., on Motown nights, focus on early Motown one night & later Motown on another. They would be playing to fans of different popular genres & time periods.
They could do the same with rock, disco, R&B, Soul, Alternative, 50's music, all the way up to the present. It seems that with enough advertisements, and adjustments made along the way, there would be great potential!
LOVE MARTHA!!!
most of these songs i heard blasting out of the arcades down at revere beach in mass from am radio broadcasting from local Boston radio i was only 8,or 9 years old then i,m 59 now and its still in my mind
Absolutely beautiful song, beautifully sung. I love this song to this day.Timeless. Blessings
Wonderful blending of fantastic voices giving life to so many wonderful songs!! Thank you for this post.
Awesome voices. Somebody definitely knew what they were doing, when they signed the girls to a contract. My favorite song by Martha & The Vandellas, and they definitely belong in the group/class of Motown Legends!

I agree. Just add The Shangri-Las, Little Eva, Dee Dee Sharp, The Orlons, The Essex, Barbara Lewis, The Angels, Ruby and the Romantics, & The Cookies to the mix
@Jon Bryan + Mary Wells, Rosie and the Originals, Kathy Young
but single Artists don't fit with groups
An awesome, yet creative video.....maybe you should get into the business of creating videos...and get paid for it....Thank you.....I needed to hear this song.....BIG TIME!!!! If you know what I mean!
Really like the easy groove the Funk Brothers fall into, and this first hit is one of the ladies' best vocal performances...and it was one of H-D-H's first Motown hits as a team.
This was their best.
Very creative video and great song.
I wore this record out and then bought the album! Those were the GREAT days.
Since I've saved all items from my old memories, I enjoy and relate to this classic oldie!
How many times did I play this record?
SHE DID LEAVE BEHIND ..A LOT OF THINGS..3 BABIES !!
I can identify with this song...

well said! i have always told people that i was born at exactly the right time to come of age to the wonderful eclectic music of the 60's! MOTOWN, girl groups, folk rock, folk music, the british invasion, white and black male groups, psychedelic music and on and on and on...it was an amazing time to be alive...
