Marshall Tucker Band, The - Heard It In A Love Song Lyrics

I ain't never been with a woman long enough
For my boots to get old
We've been together so long now
They both need resoled

If I ever settle down
You'd be my kind
And it's a good time for me
To head on down the line

Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Can't be wrong

I'm the kinda man likes to get his way
Like to start dreaming 'bout
Tomorrow, today
Never said that I love you
Even though it's so
There's that duffel bag of mine
It's time to go

Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Can't be wrong

I'm gonna be leavin'
At the break of dawn
Wish you could come
But I don't need no woman taggin' along
Don't sneak out that door
Couldn't stand to see you cry
I'd stay another year if I saw a teardrop in your eye

Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Can't be wrong

I never had a damn thing, but what I had
I had to leave it behind
You're the hardest thing
I ever tried to get off my mind
Always something greener on the other side of that hill
I was born a wrangler and a rounder
And I guess I always will

Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Heard it in a love song
Can't be wrong

Knew a cute girl in 7th grade when this song came out. Said goodbye after the 8th grade and left for different high schools. 40 year later in 2018 she found me on Facebook and instantly fell in love with each other, both of having gone thru a divorce after 20 years of marriage and 2 children. We love remembering and singing the songs of those good old days together. Life is a trip! I love you Yollie! Till death do us part.

I was about ten years old.
    Back in the seventies.
    Good times.

  13. k.... ....

I usually play this 3 times in a row...

  14. A.... B....

Great song!  I hate when they edit out the piano solo in the middle of the song (on the radio).

  15. H.... O....

I was bar hopping on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska with a girl from Seattle when this song came out--what a week, she went back to Seattle and I went to Anchorage--hope she found what she was looking for.-think about her now and then when I hear this song.

I've heard this song for years and it never gets old.

  30. B.... N....

If I have any thing to do with real music staying alive have no fear it's 2020 and I'm only 30 .. I'll do my best to keep this kind of greatness alive

  31. K.... P....

No matter what kind of music, the 70s will never be matched for the amount of talent swirling around the country.

  32. f.... s....

Great band with alot of wonderful songs! 👍 I seen them live in Va in the early 2000s great show!

  33. S.... S....

50s and 60's and 70's were awesome decades for music

  34. S.... S....

I feel sorry for today's youth cause their music sucks

    S.... S....

No, they have autotune, Post Malone, lip sync and mumble rap...🙄

    S.... S....

The saving grace...it's available to them. Problem is, the record companies try damn hard to not let them know it exists because it would kill off all new "music" sales completely. The have to discover it from word of mouth, Adam Sandler movies or TV commercials.

  35. h.... h....

    Beautiful!

  36. S.... P....

My very favorite song...it makes me cry because it's my life story...

  65. E.... E....

Carla Faye Tucker wrote most of the songs for the Marshall Tucker Band and then moved on to the Allman Brothers Band and then wrote for the Eagles. They set her up and had her killed by the state of Texas because they didn't want to give her any credit. She was 14 years old when her mother took her out of school to become a groupie. They are nothing but a bunch of raping looting harlots who have spent their lives robbing real artists of their intellectual property. Rock bands are no better than the pedos of Disney and Hollyweird. If people knew what they did and how they got away with it, they would kill them in the streets. American entertainers are the scum of the earth.

    E.... E....

Wasn't she the one who nutted when she killed people? Yes she was.
