Marmozets - Cover Up Lyrics

Cover up, cover up, cover up you

Were gonna live long
Cos my heart knows and my dancing bones told me so
They laughed and told me so
They laughed and told me so

So I left it all behind
because I got a second chance
from a covered up life

But I did so much in the mean time
Yeh.

Cover up, cover up, cover up, cover up yourself
When I was always there for you but You could never tell so

With a hand on my heart
Your words taste good
But your mind is truly burnt
Your holding on to bold
Your holding on to bold

So I left it all behind
because I got a second chance
from a covered up life

But now its time to wake up
from your covered up self

Marmozets Cover Up Comments
  1. T.... B....

One of my favorite songs on the album

  2. A.... ....

2:22 possibly the best moment on the entire album

  3. M.... H....

Brilliant music, glad I found this artist

  4. T.... ....

What time signature(s) is this song in?  I saw them live last night and was really interested this one.

    T.... ....

+Marcin Patrzalek If the tempo is around 180 then it's 7/4. I always get confused with this crap. If they recorded it at 90bpm then 7/8 works. what's the deal with this? seriously. I always get confused if things are 7/4, 7/8, 3/4, 3/8 - is it all relative to tempo? I count the music in this song as 7/4 and 4/4.

    T.... ....

i swear i can't even find the pulse when the main riff comes along xD

    T.... ....

@Caleb Michaelson if you clap with the snare drum once the band enters, you'll find your clap will alternate between the down-beat and the up-beat. This tells me that main riff is 7/8. The first chorus is two bars of 6/8, two bars of 5/8, two bars of 6/8. The second chorus is the same except after the last bar of 6/8 there is a bar of 5/8 and 3/8 (or 8/8). I don't know how it would be written out.

    T.... ....

Beau Ferchaud it's math rock.Of course in this music tempo will be unusual

Time signatures for Cover Up :
    0:00 - 0:04 (intro) ... (4x) 5/8, 4/8
    0:04 - 0:34 (verse) ... (24x) 7/8
    0:34 - 0:40 (transition) ... (2x) 4/4, 6/8, (2x) 4/4
    0:40 - 0:53 (chorus) ... (4x) 5/8, 4/8, (8x) 5/8, 4/8
    0:53 - 1:22 (verse) ... (24x) 7/8
    1:22 - 1:24 (transition) ... (2x) 4/4
    1:24 - 1:39 (chorus 2) ... (4x) 5/8, 4/8, (8x) 5/8, 4/8, (2x) 5/8, 6/8
    1:39 - 1:53 (verse B) ... (10x) 4/4
    1:53 - 1:58 (chorus interlude) ... (4x) 5/6, 4/8
    1:58 - 2:23 (interlude) ... (7x) 9/4 (=4/4+5/4), 10/4
    2:23 - 2:37 (verse B) ... (10x) 4/4
    2:37 - 2:58 (chorus 3) ... (4x) 5/8, 4/8, (8x) 5/8, 4/8, (8x) 5/8, 4/8
    2:58 - 3:00 (awesomeness afterglow)

To sum it up, verse is in 7/8, chorus is in 5/8 with a with 4/8 when she sings "yourself..." Second kind of verse or whatever you wanna call it is in 4/4, and then there's a 9/4 bit. Depending on how you count the time signatures, if you go with the way I split this into bars, you can attribute 29 time signature changes to this.

KING CRIMSON with a young fresh power! ILOVE IT :)

    A.... S....

@Ado Simonides With improved singing, and more energetic! (Don't get me wrong, albums like 'In the Court of the Crimson King' are masterpieces)

    A.... S....

You lads have no idea what you're talkin about

    A.... S....

+slaughterofthesoul95 You don't have to be so smug, stud. My comment was more of a positive note on this band than a factual evaluation of his comment. It's not true in a literal sense obviously, Marmozets overall approach to music is very different. There is a hint of King Crimson in some of the guitar riffs - the type of rhythms and use of dissonance.

    A.... S....

@OpethToolMetallica didn't meant to be rude dude :) I was just pointing out the fact that King Crimson's approach to music was completely in contrast with Marmozets'. I mean, how did u even come up of that influence? lol

    A.... S....

@slaughterofthesoul95 Brains are wired to perceive similarities, so as @Ado Simonides mentioned King Crimson I did notice a small similarity, which may very well simply be contingent :p

  6. A.... ....

So groovy - perhaps my favourite on the album :)

  7. S.... C....

ok who is the idiot going round and downvoteing all their songs. If you don't like it just don't listen to it . that simple

  8. J.... L....

I hope you'll come back in France very soon !!!! You guys made quite a mess in Cabaret Vert ! One of the greatest concert on the festival ! (you're second because M was very good, but he's much more "experimented", and you may not know him)
