Mandrell, Barbara - Years Lyrics

Faded photographs
The feelings all come back
Even now sometimes
You feel so near
And I still see your face
Like it was yesterday
It's strange how the days turned into years

Years of hanging on
To dreams are already gone
Years of wishing you were here
After all this time you'd think I wouldn't cry
It's just that I still love you after all these years

Nighttime gently falls
Another day is gone
I turn around to find you're still not here
I leave the hall light on
In case you come back home
But I've been saying that for years

Years of hanging on
To dreams are already gone
It's of wishing you were here
After all this time you'd think I wouldn't cry
It's just that I still love you after all these years

After all these years...

When I first heard this song I was working a midnight shift and it was played on a local country station. After this initial introduction to the song I would call the radio station every night to request it. The DJ, a young whose radio name was Linda Travis and I got to know each other over the next few weeks and ended up meeting. We dated for a while until she took a DJ job up in Tennessee. I never saw or spoke with Linda again but I still remember her and miss her when I hear this song. This song does have a very special meaning to me.

I had listened to this song for over 30 years, Always remembering the woman I had Loved when we were teenagers. We met and fell in love and were together for what seemed like forever. Circumstances came about that we were separated, we said our last goodbye's on a foggy February morning. Never to see each other again. I waited, "After All These Years" hoping she'd come back home".. Recently I had learned she has passed away. I will Still, "Leave the hall light On". Just in case she Comes back Home.
