Lynn Anderson - Listen To A Country Song Lyrics
It's Saturday night and my daddy's up late pickin' with my uncle Bill
The neighbors don't mind 'cause they have a good time sippin' on my pappy's still
Old brother Ben got a fiddle in his hands and mama's on the mandolin
When the music is right and the band is tight you wanna see 'em pick and grin
Everybody starts groovin' to the beat of the rhythm and drums
So come on along get yourself really on rock to the music and fun
Sip that wine and have a really good time and listen to a country song
Old sheriff Brown whenever comes around knockin' on a cold backdoor
It's a matter of fact you can find him outback pickin' on his old banjo
My brother Jack sneaks out from the back tryin' to get to sister Sue
Watch him closin' on the ground about turnin' around she knows a little jujitsu
Everybody starts movin' to the sound of the guitar strums
So come on along get yourself really on rock to the music and fun
Sip that wine and have a really good time and listen to a country song
Everybody starts movin' to the sound of the guitar strums
Everybody starts groovin' to the beat of the rhythm and drums
So come on along get yourself really on rock to the music and fun
Sip that wine and have a really good time and listen to a country song
Just sip that wine and have a really good time and listen to a country song

Lynn Anderson Listen To A Country Song Comments
Lynn Anderson is my inspiration and always will be
I grew up listening to this! They don’t make country classics like this anymore. Love it!
For some reason, I still find it cute when Lynn mentions Jujitsu.
Ah Hey Lynn, Nice Outfit,
Wait... How did you know in 2019 I’d be sipping a wine listening to one of your country songs? You psychic?
(Joke)
(This almost could count as Rock, I think, Heh, Didn’t know you had a cool side Lynn).
OH HOW I MISS HER THERE WLL NEVER BE ANOTHER LYNN ANDERSON I TRUELY LOVE YOU HONEY
Jim rafferty No there won’t, Shania may be close but doesn’t duplicate the majesty of Lynn.
Beautiful beat.
appreciate you listening
Hello,
I just came along your videos. Seems you're into country, so please have a look on my videos too. I'm sure you will like it.
Have a nice day!
Best,
Marc
First time that I've heard this. Love it.
Love this song. Good one for her. Thanks for posting.
you're welcome
On this day in 1972 {May 2nd} Lynn Anderson appeared as a guest on the Philadelphia-based syndicated television program 'The Mike Douglas Show'...
Nowhere on the internet can I find it she performed a song on the show; but during the calendar year of 1972 she had three huge hits on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart; "Cry" {at #3}, "Listen to a Country Song" {at #4}, and "Fool Me" {at #4}...
Between 1966 and 1991 she had sixty records on the Hot Country Singles chart; seventeen made the Top 10 with five* reaching #1; "Rose Garden" {1970}, "You're My Man" {1971}, "How Can I Unlove You" {1971}, "Keep Me In Mind" {1973}, and "What A Man My Man Is" {1974}...
Lynn Rene Anderson passed away at the young age of 67 on July 30th, 2015...
May she R.I.P.
* She just missed having a sixth #1 record when "That's A No No" peaked at #2 in 1969...
Lynn's mom & my grandma were cousins. Lynn performed at the Roseau County, MN fair, when I was in my teens but I did not get to meet her personally. I did talk to her mom Liz after, but that was all prior to Lynn's success with 'Rose Garden'. She was a few years older than me, but unfortunately, we did not get to meet before she passed on. My daughter got to meet her when she performed at Fortune Bay Casino, MN about 10 years ago. I am glad for that!
RIP Lynn, you are missed.
WELL SAID CONNIE, LYNN IS DEARLY MISSED, THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR MESSAGE

Jim rafferty I feel bad Jim, I only just discovered her, years after she died. May she sing in the great concert in the sky.
