Lush - White Wood Lyrics

Just hold my hand and stroke my hair
And ask them not to stand
And stare my mind is scattered everywhere
And all around I see despair my heart was broken long ago
I've come so far and sunk so low the truth's
A man without a soul I find him everywhere I go

All is fair in love they say liars liars I found only misery
Love is cruel I can close my eyes and see something better
Fairy tales and fantasy let me sleep let me dream
Just hold my hand and stroke my hair
And tell me everything's OK
I'm waiting for my millionaire just lie to me
And say he's there

They say the truth is beautiful
Liars liars what do they know of the truth anyway
I can close my eyes and see something better fairy tales
And fantasy that's the world for me

Wot the ?*#!!! This is yet another Lush song (like Superblast! and Laura) that i couldn't even believe was real the first time i heard it just now. There are more good ideas in almost any song Emma Anderson ever wrote than most songwriters have in their entire catalog. SO much attention to detail! (I love Miki's lyrics, too. "Liars, liars..." hahaha!)

    B.... G....

    and this was a b-side!

  11. R.... C....

Yes, really swirls around especially towards the end, you want to hear it linger for about 2 hours more.

  12. p.... q....

John Peel played this; I found it in a big box of tapes, I wouldn't have known who to look for accept for liking John Peel's voice enough to record it.

these Lush gems just keep coming. I first heard this song a few years ago and thought it was average. listening to it a few weeks ago and I fell in love with it. same with astronaut a month ago. their music grows on you.

    j.... s....

right with ya....this one and 'astronaut' for me. unfortunately they'll never do them live nor 'sunbathing'

    j.... s....

True. Theres any live wth this?

  17. S.... ....

This is by far my favorite Lush song....there really just are no words.. How? How'd they do it??

    S.... ....

One of my favorites as well.

God's Gift was the second song I heard by Lush, after Nothing's Natural. That got me hooked. I think Split is their best album.

  19. T.... ....

@lincbond442 Definitively! What's amazing about lush is that just when I think I've heard all their best songs I'll discover another awesome one!

I had never heard God's Gift, Plums and Oranges, this and Heavenly before in my life.

  20. l.... ....

One of my top 5 favorite songs by Lush. If only music today were half as good as this.

  21. T.... ....

    Best Lush song!

  22. t.... ....

This is one of my favorite, if not my very favorite, Lush song!! I love chord changes and good melody, and this song is an example of that! It's a great one to play on the guitar and so much more interesting than much of what is on the radio these days.

    Hello there my friend

  23. D.... L....

@fatcatbuzz It is probably my favorite Lush EP, next to Black Spring and For Love.

  24. D.... L....

    Beautiful and timeless.

  25. j.... ....

This song is horrendously complicated to play. I wonder how did they do to remember all these chord changes (that's also what Robin Guthrie asked them during the "Spooky" recording sessions).

    j.... ....

julosx What the hell are you talking about??? They/re professional musicians!!! Berenyi & Anderson have both been performing since their early teens in the 80/s and were in several bands before they formed Lush in 87! Go figure!

    j.... ....

@DiZzAy CuBbY Ease up there guy. It's a compliment to the band's music to say that it's complex

  26. M.... M....

    I remember this cd5.... great
