I couldn't listen to the whole thing--the song NEEDS to be song as a rock ballad. I like Lulu, but this just makes me cringe.
Them does it about 1000 times better.

to think this lovely bundle of fun from Glasgow had a poor showing on the late December 1964 charts at no.50! & yet van and the gang got to no.2 ? can any one tell me why because I personally think this record was Lulu,s best record she ever recorded. Listening to lulu perform this on juke box jury David Jacobs agrees with me and votes along with the panel A HIT ............ SAY NO MORE!.........
@alan rabjohns That was Decca's fault! Lulu was 16 years old and female and they didn't push her or the song. maybe the reason she moved to EMI when her contract came up for renewal?
Them's version was better than this generic, overproduced, sixties lift music.
