Not a single sound of electric guitar. To me, Low has been first and foremost all about Alan and his terrific, exciting and inspiring guitar work. Maybe that'll still happen when they play live. Ah, I guess I'm getting old...

I'm laughing at how you added "hopefully". There are many great unheralded rock bands and artists.

I'm not sure I'd classify them as rock n' roll, though.

Everything doesn't have to be the greatest ever. There are people that love them and that can be enough. Doesn't diminish them in any way.

It's nice when acclaim goes to the deserving sometimes. Makes you feel a little better about the world.

That's exactly my reaction. It is overwhelming. It is bleak, raw and merciless.

The sound of this album is so annoying. I love the fact that they keep on innovating, but they lost me on this one.

I respect your opinion, but I feel like this album is a culmination of years of experimentation. There's hints of The Great Destroyer, Things We Lost in The Fire, and lots of Ones and Sixes. It's amazing for me to hear the transformation. Obviously, not for everyone. It took me a while to warm up to Ones and Sixes and C'mon, so I definitely get where you're coming from. I just feel like this album is hitting all the right notes.

I hear ya. There's only a song or two off both C'mon and The Invisible Way I like, even after repeated listenings. Double Negative and Ones and Sixes though I loved instantly.

AgravepasmonK, i am struggling with the same conundrum and i have been listening since long division.

@Epitaphforyesterday Change is the only constant. Not for everyone, but one thing's for sure... they are growing as artists. I don't want another "Curtain..." I love that album to death - it's incredibly important to me, personally. But it's already there. I like that they're pushing in new directions.
