Loretta Lynn - Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven Lyrics

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die

Once upon a time there lived a man and his name was Hezekiah
He walked with God both day and night but he didn't wanna die
He cried, "Oh, Lord, please let me live. Death is close, I know."
God smiled down on Hezekiah and gave him fifteen years to go

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die
Lord, I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna die

Though I long for the day when I'll have new birth
Still I love the livin' here on earth
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die

When Jesus lived here on this earth he knew his father's plan
He knew that he must give his life to save the soul of men
When Judas had betrayed him his father heard him cry
He was brave until his death but he didn't wanna die

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die
Lord, I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna die

Though I long for the day when I'll have new birth
Still I love the livin' here on earth
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die
Lord, I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna die

Though I long for the day when I'll have new birth
Still I love the livin' here on earth
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die

That song is so true and has folk roots to it too. I know there is turmoil on this earth and bad things, horrible things but there is also good and fun things to do and enjoyment but we all have to leave it and hopefully go to Heaven. I sure do love Earth. Better enjoy earthly things God has given us, like a good concert or a pizza or a good movie. There will be none of that once we die but I hope there are much better things in God's great design of things. I will enjoy here while I can but hope I too make it to heaven.

Was so incredibly blessed to have seen her this weekend! Loretta, God has blessed you with a long life here on earth as you have been an amazing vessel for His testimony in this world. I look forward to seeing you and your sweet family sing again. Thank you for singing this song that I requested as you were asking the audience. You are sharp as a tack, witty and exude the love and peace of our Lord. God bless you and your family. :) <3

This CD is my number one in my player going to and from my job and with my time allowed at my job I put my mp3 in and again this is still my go to music and all of Loretta Lynn's former hits.  Nothing compares if you like real country.  I still can't hear enough of it although hearing so many times over.  With all that stated I think I admire the performer even more than the music....I think that is greatest compliment one can give.

Loretta, Thank you for sharing your God-given gifts with the community. Your life force is strong. Your spirit has carried you through the joys and pain of life. Of course, you can't know the immensity of the impact and influence you've had on this earth. Only God can comprehend that.

  49. Martin Ward

sorry, don't like it at all. it's embarrassing in comparison to the earlier version.

    Martin Ward

Proved my point perfectly. I'm sure "your friend" would love you fighting with her fans on her vevo channel.

    Down On Music Row

+Martin Ward... Actually "Van Lear Rose" does contain a remake. "The Story of My Life," the last track on the album, was first cut by Loretta in 1960 for Zero Records, and was released on the 1967 Decca/Vocalion album "Here's Loretta Lynn." She did change a couple of the lyrics for the 2004 version.

And, BTW, "Full Circle" won't be Loretta's last album. She had cut close to 100 tracks before signing the multi-album deal with Sony/Legacy. Those recordings will appear on those albums, with "Full Circle" being the first release.

    Martin Ward

The story of my life was s continuation of "my life story" she changed most of the lyrics. I believe that some of the songs on van Lear rose are loosely based on previous hits too

    Roby Fox

+Martin Ward I'm sure Loretta would appreciate my support more than your comment Martin. I do apologize for my last comment. I was angry and I am very defensive about Loretta. However, that last statement was not appropriate.

  50. Vercingetorix king of the Arverni

This melody here is outstanding. Loretta sounds better than ever.
