Loggins & Messina - Fever Dream Lyrics

Stand back and see if they circle
Watching for signs in the sky
And we stand here, unaided
Dumbfounded, frightened, fearful of the night
In the early rains of the dawn
In the early rains

Wonderment pours from our faces
Thunder is born in our eyes
And we see them, four horsemen, last judgement
Lord apocalypse is nigh
In the early rains of the dawn
In the early rains

Too late to look towards tomorrow
Awaiting your hand in farewell
And we stand here, unaided
Dumdfounded waiting in eachothers arms
In the early rains of the dawn
In the early rains of the dawn
In the early rains of the dawn

This is such a beautiful song with the photos to go with them. Most people don't know it's about the Apocalypse. Listen to, or read, the lyrics.

The incredibly unique quality and sound that Kenny and Jim produce on this song I have never heard anywhere else in my 67 years of being a music fan and old time DJ. That type of uniqueness in music is so rare. Its a huge tribute to the wonderful pure organic quality of Kenny and Jims music and harmonies. Just brilliant!!

I just can never hear enough of this incredible, haunting, gorgeously sung song. Thank you so much for making it available for our listening pleasure. I listen to it over and over again.

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. The harmonies are just stunning. What an amazingly talented duo these guys are.

Kenny Loggins co-wrote "Fever Dream" with my brother Maury Muehleisen in August 1973, one month before Maury perished in the plane crash with Jim Croce. Maury did the lead guitar work on Jim Croce's three ABC Records LPs. Jim and Maury were on the road with Loggins & Messina, when Kenny and Maury wrote this song. You can read about it in a letter Kenny wrote to me. It's on my website ~ www.maurymuehleisen.com. Loggins & Messina recorded the song for their 1974 Mother Lode LP.

What a tragic story. I am so sorry to hear it. Your brothers memory lives on in this fabulous song. What a wonderful tribute to him. You should be so proud.

datagirl I remember Maury. He was only 24 when he died. I loved Jim Croce's songs because he told stories. Like the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, who I saw in concert here in Southern CA six weeks before his death, Jim died young, and on the verge of superstardom. We will never know what Jim, Mairy and SRV would've accomplished had they lived. May they rest in peace.

One of the most underrated duo's of all time;  great music, professional musicians at their peak.

This album is sooooo under rated. This song in particular is haunting, sad, hopeful, joyous......all in 3 minutes. I am a drummer in the Seattle area and I play every weekend......many is the night I have left a club and just played this song on repeat to close out a musical night. Absolutely wonderful tune

    D.... H....

Totally agree. This record is beautifully brilliant. Singular and Sonic.

    D.... H....

now you've done it........Will be listening to the whole album on a week long binge. :)
    Love it.....glad you do too.

Dreamy, introspective, acquired ears to listen to but like this song the first I heard it. Actually this is my favorite of all their albums

you never figured it out dee...you have the right to remain silent, if you give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law...you have the right to an attorney present during questioning...if you cannot afford one...one will be provided to you free of charge ms perez....duggan...slocum...greyhawk...pietro...my worst nightmare Robert and Yolanda Gonzales....Ill say hello to them at your preliminary hearing...

I was just in the bathroom and this title just pops into my heade! Why? Nobody plays this or talks about L&M and I like some of their stuff as a kid. Weird, to remember, and cool to just go to YouTube. What a great thing!

now Dolores ....you owe me a lot of money and an email with a written apology...today is Friday 4/10/14 and I am going to definitely read you your rights in the presence of a witness...my dad has my badge, and it is a Fresno County Deputy Sheriff's badge...and I haven't seen him since I got to Fresno and that was before I met you...I know where you aren't right now...in the room with me...and I went to jail in Riverside on an outstanding warrant for a traffic Ticket while you were fucking someone else...I am going to arrest you and not bail you out...you have the right to divorce me now.....I am done playing games with you ...you owe me 500.00 and a cell phone and you have personal information about me and my family....I am going to arrest you for identity theft, assault and battery, petty theft, and threatening, repeatedly on a Saturday to kick my ass, while your boyfriend was going to assist you...you are going to jail..i hope you have a good lawyer Dolores Slocum...PJ and I haven't seen each other in a long time...and it is mostly your fault....you are a Narcissist, and I know what ambivalent means with looking it up on the computer...you are self absorbed and you are probably and alcoholic and you yell at Me?  You have the gall to raise your voice to me still on the phone after all you have put me through....?  That is not a rectorical question Lori Slocum...!

its about families...women and children typically ...kissing their husbands goodbye...then the commanding officer calls his men to attention...they stand in formation....then fall out...load a boat or bus...and are deployed...then the wife's and children go back to their lives and hope their husbands or fathers make it back alive...

  20. j.... p....

for all of you doubting Thomas's ...listen to this song...it is about the Navy and then the air Calvary...US special forces...

  30. f.... ....

A great song from a great album, I liked it from the first time I heard it.
This music made a deep impression to me, there's something special for me about this music.
Maybe the unusual songstructure or the refined arrangements or maybe the combination of the instruments, anyway this music reflects something very pure.
    Beautiful sung by kenny loggins.
    Nice pictures too!
    Thanks for uploading.
