Little Feat - Time Loves A Hero Lyrics

Well they say that time loves a hero
But only time will tell
If he's real he's a legend from heaven
If he ain't he was sent here from hell

Hear me well
Seeing ain't always believing
Just make sure it's the truth that you're seeing
Eyes sometimes lie, eyes sometimes lie
They can be real deceiving

I got an uncle in Puerto Rico
Spends his days in the sun
And his nights in the casinos
He left the States many years ago
Took a fishing boat to Puerto Rico
Now my aunt she is sad and lonely
She'll never know that she drove him away
As a coward I admire his courageous ways

Well they say that time loves a hero
But only time will tell
If he's real he's a legend from heaven
If he ain't he's a mouthpiece from hell

Some say my uncle that he's a zero
His life as a shell, he left it back at Stateside
I'd say he's doing well without his shell
Bumming 'round the beaches of Puerto Rico
The beauty of the sunrise and sunset
To his friends he wish he could tell
They're at home still running for bells
Better San Juan than that blue collar hell

Well they say that time loves a hero
But only time will tell
If he's real he's a legend from heaven
If he ain't he was sent here from hell

It's always been sage advice! Only time will tell.

  5. s.... ....

Still got my original album of this from parties in the 70's, although it sounds like shit with scratches and clicks from too many stumblin drunks.....and I don't have a record player anyway... glad to be able to play it here!

  11. J.... S....

    RIP Paul B.

  12. T.... W....

The drums are tuned perfectly for the tune. The inter play from the slide to the guitars are perfect. The organ is incredible. The Melody is tight. Composition is Unreal. Just a Masterpiece.

  13. s.... ....

This is just the widest, fattest groove. Richie Hayward was the funkiest drummer ever.

  14. M.... S....

Saw Nicolette Larson at the Whiskey a go go in 1976. Little Feat was her backup band.

  15. M.... F....

I absolutely love the whole album.. If you give it a chance.. You will be with us.. Guess what..... it is a cool place to be.. Don't miss the ride.😁

  16. D.... K....

This is that evil "bump and grind music" they warned us about in bible school. Funny thing is they were probably right.

  17. V.... F....

    I still don't get it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL355YvJKbs

    Best live album EVER

  19. L.... G....

    The bested

  20. P.... B....

Great band. Saw them in London around 1970 when they opened for the Doobies. The Doobies were pissed because the audience wouldn’t let Little Feat go. Bought the album but someone said it was 76. Don’t buy that. Shame there is no live video but I guess this was 50 years ago .........

  21. M.... S....

  35. g.... ....

Wow. 27 deaf people tried to listen to this?

    g.... ....

    grafikfeat. Hahahahahaha!Good one!

    g.... ....

Don’t undercut the hearing impaired, they would’ve given all thumbs up. Personally, I think it’s the Taliban. They can’t have music, so, yeah . . . frustrated bunch.

    g.... ....

Maybe it's that it's one song and the groove doesn't keep going though you know it wants to.

  36. p.... ....

    Thyme loves a gyro

    p.... ....

    popbottle. hilarious!

  37. l.... 8....

    j'aime beaucoup ce morceau

  38. 1.... ....

  42. l.... e....

    lekkere muziek man!

  43. T.... T....

Yes we do miss real music and real musical talent. God have mercy on Lowell's soul, well.....if he has one, hopefully.

    T.... T....

If ever in doubt, " old folks boogie", or Spanish moon should suffice

  44. R.... B....

That fat guitar just growls.....miss you mate.

  45. D.... S....

so many great memories off of just one album from my days at College to my days in the military one of the greatest groups that been forgotten by time but not by those of us that just remember the good times that went with the music and I'll always remember the bright lights of Memphis and the Commodore Hotel

  46. K.... H....

The "gang" singing on this and "All That You Dream" among others kills me, one of many things that I love about this band.

  47. j.... ....

Better San Juan than MY blue collar hell....

  48. C.... C....

Before the era of TV/Audio remote controls, this iconic live album was a no-brainer (yea, stoner) choice to place on the turntable at a kickass wild party and take comfort that everyone was grooving 'til the morning light. Great memories! I'm buying the recopy vinyl version with my first OASDI Social Security check un September.

    C.... C....

    Solid, Bro!

  49. C.... L....

WFC always lands in my list of Top Five DLA's. Sometimes 1, or 4. but never out of the five.

  50. A.... W....

This song is not 4/4 but I cant seem to count it out - anyone? 5/4?

    A.... W....

4/4, but 9ths and short rests make the cacophony of their unique original orchestration while live in collaboration with others no matter style in anything, they had that funk that was then and always, heads above any would-be contenders. They play (ed) the "Game of Thrones" and like so many survivors they still rule.
Little Feat, 1st of their name, etc...

    A.... W....

+Freeman Little ...I might add, their ship, Columbus, they waited on so long is come in so many times over I often think of this album as music-porn.

  51. p.... s....

"Waiting for Columbus", best album EVER. If stranded anywhere with one album it would be my choice.

    p.... s....

Desert Island album...along with Physical Graffiti and Dave Mason "Certified Live"

    p.... s....

Let's not forget Marshall Tucker "Capricorn Years"

  52. R.... L....

Even talks about Puerto Rico and casinos (avoid them.)

  53. b.... w....

I think he created this stuff cause he wanted to hear it - the rest of us (!!!) just liked it JUST as Much! Blew the World's Mind Out!

  54. A.... M....

Sure wish I'd had the chance to see L.F. with Lowell........they just knock me OUT!

  55. M.... L....

What a perfect tune. Doesn't get much better than this.

    M.... L....

No doubt, loved these guys as a teen.

    M.... L....

    For real

    M.... L....

such good music- just reheard 'Spanish Moon', and must say, that tune is quite possibly best time of all time.

+mermaidmichele Woke up this morning thinking about the “swell” of the synthesizers in “Fat Man in the Bathtub”. That’s what that’s called when you have smooth tone that gradually gets louder—called a swell. Like surface gravity waves on the ocean.

    F.... D....

Ahhhh! Did not know that!  Always imagined it was like a "wave" crescending and washing over ya!
Welp, now you did it. gotta go find my lil feat station on pandora now!  Gotta hear Fat man...!  AND "Time Loves a Hero" Good thing there isnt anyone around to see me dancing [...or hear me moan!]  LOLOL !

  66. S.... B....

Saw them more than once (I think) at Cowtown in KC.  Can't be beat!

  67. F.... L....

the greatest band of all time for collaborating with other musicians, giving some of the best live performances, this album being representative of that ability to blend with anyone's style and adapt on the fly...Best doggone album ever produced..

    F.... L....

San Francisco and New York always brag a great deal about the bands that came out of those regions in the '60's and folks from either area would sneer at us Los Angeleno's, saying we had no culture of any kind ... but out of L.A. came the "FEAT"...and nobody, nooOOO-BODY BEAT THE "FEAT" LIVE....
    NOOOO - BODY.

    F.... L....

    @Reese Butler
    Really now?
I grew up in L.A. and I was there when it happened.
For your convenience I took the trouble of copying the following from wikipedia.
" Little Feat is an American rock band formed by singer-songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist Lowell George and keyboardist Bill Payne in 1969 in Los Angeles."
How you came to figure they originated out of Maryland is beyond me.
