Little Feat - Listen To Your Heart Lyrics
Lookin' out on the evening light
You see the lightnin' and the thunder rollin' in
As you strain to keep that setting sun in sight
Ya start to get that Summer feelin' back again
Of a time
Not afraid to cross that line
You don't have to close your eyes
You don't have to turn away
You can't expect to take the right road every morning
When you start to feel the words get in the way
Listen to your heart
And what it has to say
You say you're searchin' for some common ground
And you wish these troubled times would turn around
Bring back just a little warmer weather to your life
To shine through the sorrow
And not fade out with the morning light
But you don't have to close your eyes
You don't have to turn away
You can't expect to take the right road every morning
When you start to feel the words get in the way
Listen to your heart
And what it has to say
You say you're lookin' to leave the danger zone
Lookin to leave off all this pain and sorrow
And you hate so much to live your life alone
But with half a chance you'd say good-bye tomorrow
To be free
From all this confusion
And have it like it used to be
Soft as a Summer day
Warm as a gentle breeze
Rollin' out across the sea
But you don't have to close your eyes
You don't have to turn away
You can't expect to take the right road every morning
When you start to feel the words get in the way
Listen to your heart
And what it has to say

Little Feat Listen To Your Heart Comments
GOD is callin Listen to Your Heart!!!
perfect drums make this song happen
Always loved Richie H on drums ....just ask Robert Plant from Led Zep
A few years ago I used the Shazam app to discover this song. Just came up again in my Facebook memories. Great song!
And here I am again!
This song couldn't be more forgotten!
HA for some reason I "see" Miami Vice listening to this - very '80s synch vibe the groove. Jessus I AM old now.
It's how they DON'T speed up that's oh so special. OMG The FUNK.
listen to your heart made 1988 for me a believer of great composers and arrangers... this is the real shit... thank you for all your comments
So excited when this came out in 1988. Great comeback album, and yes, Listen To Your Heart is one of the standout numbers on this album.
+Jody Parker Nobody seems to even notice this tune anymore but I agree with you. Very nice composition, arrangement, and performance. Great transitions and grooves.
Talk about a come back! Bought the album the day it was released. Still have the cassette. Saw them 3 weeks later at U.of Tennessee. What a show. This song still hits me hard as does the entire album. This album should be in the top 25 albums of the decade. Above and beyond !
@CR - Agreed the band DID come back strong with this one ... but w/o LG I mean it's the same thing for me Allman Bros w/o Duane - some leaders are just irreplaceable.
PS/FWIW - Chinese Work Songs w/ or w/o George is great great great tho.
Not a weak one in the bunch. Strong, strong tunes. Somehow this band has continued on, road dogs all. God bless 'em...
