Songs like these are why I wouldn't consider myself a fan of Linkin Park. You start a metal or metalcore band because that's who you are and you want to share it with the world and build a sense of community. This song tells me Chester is going through depression and instead of getting actual help or therapy he started a band to get all his feelings out; not a bad thing, and I understand that "we all have our own horrors and our demons to fight", but Chester actually bit the bullet, so I'm kind of split on whether or not I want to be a fan of this band. Especially since BMTH is my all time favorite band and they got inspiration from LP. I'll pay my respects to Chester and I'll occasionally listen to some songs, but _in the end_ I still have that question as to whether or not Linkin Park was proud of who they are and wrote songs about it instead of just talking about actual depression and tendencies related to it.


Edit: Maybe this is the kind of band Linkin Park is SUPPOSED to be, idk maybe someone could fill me in on it, same with Green Day I've only really listened to one of their albums

After listening to Chester over again, especially in this song, you can tell that these lyrics and even his screaming in this song weren't just for show. This was personal. This is precisely how he felt, and those were legitimate screams. He was full of rage and trauma due to his past and it's crazy how a lot of us didn't even recognize the full extent of it until the moment he took his own life.
