Linda Ronstadt - Tumbling Dice Lyrics

People try to rape me
Always think I'm crazy
Make me burn the candle right down
Baby I can't stay
I don't need your jewels in my frown

Now all you women are low-down gamblers
Cheating like I don't know how
Baby I go crazy
There's fever in the funkhouse now

Well this low-down bitching
Got my poor feet a-itching
Can't you see the deuce is still wild
Baby get it straight
You got to roll me
And call me the tumbling dice

Always in a hurry
Never stop to worry
Can't see the time passing by
Honey got no money
I'm sixes and sevens and nines

Well hey now baby I'm the rank outsider
You can be my partner in crime
Baby get it straight
You got to roll me
Call me the tumbling dice

I said my my my
I'm the lone crapshooter
Playing the field every night
Baby get it straight
You got to roll me
Call me the tumbling dice

You got to roll me
Babe you got to roll me
Babe you got to roll me
Oh oh oh you got to roll me
Woo hoo hoo you got to roll me
Woah babe you got to roll me
Baby babe you got to roll me

Multi-talented singer, great song and a tuned-in backing band! Linda at her finest! Thanks for posting this video.

  2. T.... W....

    The One & Only.

  3. G.... L....

Lucky enough to have seen her live in 1968 with the Stone Ponies and in 1984 with with her big band. Both shows were great and are burned into my memory, she was wonderful then and still amazing today. As soon as I find that time machine, I'm heading back to the '70s when music and artists were this good.

  4. R.... B....

Hands down the best voice in music. Never got big headed and she could have settled this desperado down! Still Can . I Love U linda Have all my life!!! <3

  14. E.... C....

Sing it Shuga Lips! Been in love with this sweetheart since being at a 1972 concert where she was a lead on to Jackson Brown. Linda Ronstadt's the whole package!!

  15. D.... ....

    Rick Marotta

  16. Z.... S....

    Linda Ronstadt...rock and roll royalty

  17. C.... C....

Damn she is just so awesome. Least we have you tube to go back in time when rock n roll was at its best

  18. R.... S....

Linda Loves the song and it shows,. Waddy Watchel on Guitar always adds to any band ,. was in the Ex Pensive Winos Keith's band

  19. C.... B....

I know there are ALL kinds of Linda. Opera Linda, The Standards Linda, Pop Linda, Country Linda, Ethnic Linda... But I prefer Rocker Linda.

  20. T.... M....

my crush as a teen was Farrah Fawcett, that was until i saw *Linda* (Sorry Farrah)

  21. P.... F....

    Linda had such attitude...love it.

  22. N.... L....

I'd love to hear Joan Osborne sing this song

  23. T.... P....

My god I'd be thrilled to death to have Linda Ronstadt cover one of songs. If I had one.

  24. m.... i....

This has to be the best cover ever, and arguably better then it's original.

    m.... i....

    Agree. Brilliant stuff.

    m.... i....

Careful what you say there, thems fighting words

  25. D.... ....

    Great solo from Waddy Wachtel

  26. F.... Y....

Linda my first and only love luv ya linda

  27. j.... b....

Frank Zappa once told Steve Vai, when Vai hesitated to play something difficult in an audition for Zappa's band "Well, I hear Linda Ronstadt needs a guitarist". Waddy Wachtel, what were you doing playing for Linda?

  28. d.... o....

Probably the finest female vocalist in R&R over the past half-century. Waddy Wachtel (slide guitar) is his usual All-Star self, as he was with Warren Zevon.

  29. a.... ....

    Man, just dripping with sexuality...

  30. J.... F....

One of the best and sexiest female singers ever. How many women could belt that song out like that? I’ve heard others try but none come close.

  31. B.... M....

That's Waddy Watchel playing the badass guitar. Now plays with Stevie Nicks.

  32. J.... C....

The solo guitar sounds a lot like Rod Price from 'Foghat'.

  33. J.... C....

I'll never forget Linda Rondstadt for this version. In fact, I got to know this song with her singing first. I saluted 'FM' as the celebration of the end of the boring Disco music era. thanks for posting.

  34. W.... G....

    love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. A.... M....

As a die hard Stones fan - I was skeptical, but damn man ! Go Linda!!!!

  36. D.... ....

I heard Linda's version of this song long before I ever knew the Rolling Stones did it first.

    D.... ....

There are two definitive versions of this classic Rolling Stones song.. By the Rolling Stones of course and Linda's cover as well.

  37. H.... D....

I knew the song way before I knew Linda; When I heard this version I asked myself "who the hell is singing that version so good?"

  38. j.... ....

    77 people prefer autotune

  39. b.... t....

OMG- Pure raw dynamite in a 5 foot package!! Linda crushed all the other voices in music and could cover any genre with ease. I saw her in concert in '83 and she wowed the crowd for 2 hours - perfect pitch, strong delivery and stunning beauty. The 77 "thumbs down" must be Bieber fans.

  40. g.... w....

there will never be another "linda" fm is the soundtrack of the 70's.

  41. H.... S....

There's fever in the funk house now!

  42. R.... M....

I LOVE THIS WOMAN, WHAT A STAR !

  43. c.... ....

WOW! No one can do this today!

  44. p.... ....

    Great rock. Sexy lady.

  45. E.... C....

    She can sing ANYTHING

  46. A.... I....

    Bravissima

  47. J.... M....

What kind of shampoo do you think she uses? Prell? or Herbal Essense?

  48. D.... R....

We see a young, skinny Waddy Watchel in the background playing lead?

  49. R.... M....

    i love this woman

  50. R.... R....

I loved her growing up, and still do. I think Rachael Price of lake Street dive has all of the same qualities.

  51. M.... ....

    Still my all-time favourite singer.

  52. L.... R....

Such a beautiful soul with a voice to make angels weep.

  53. R.... F....

didn't realize this was a dirty song with such nice music russ fain

  54. A.... S....

I hate that Waddy Whatever the fk his name is guy.

  55. S.... o....

I'm absolutely sure she could turn around and talk to her band without saying a word. It's in her eyes.

  56. C.... M....

She was and is the biggest bad ass of all the baddest asses on the planet. Congratulations bad ass.

  57. L.... L....

  59. t.... t....

the dog said, 'total babe-uh-tiv-uh-too-i-tee. - bernie 2020." ~ tenderbastard

  60. M.... R....

She was so talented...so sorry to hear how sick she is. One of the great female voices in rock. Actually is my favorite Stones song too.

  61. G.... H....

Dear Linda, life can be so bloody unfair, loved you back in the day, love you now, God bless. xxxx

  62. M.... a....

Howard Stern : This is class - not sure what you are!

  63. C.... L....

Wish she and Jagger had done a duet!

  64. D.... C....

I proposed to my wife ( of over 40 years now) right after we saw this movie (FM), the tunes were all so awesome and every time I hear one of the soundtrack songs or the movie mentioned I flashback big time. LOL

  65. R.... ....

Her album version is better than the Stones' version, and this live version is better than her album version.

  66. f.... 2....

My God....... She really has some kick ass confedence as she gives such presance and grit to her performance. On the radio it sounds great, here, I see why. She's delivering it with heart and force so, your soul hears the message. Back again in Sept 2019 and., again floored by her confidence and delivery !!

  67. D.... H....

She had it all. Voice looks personality charisma I'm abundance

  68. C.... Z....

I have to say I am biased, the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's were such a great time for music! I am not down playing any other era's music just sayin these and those are what really get to my heart!

  69. n.... p....

    The undisputed queen of covers!

  70. L.... G....

I lover her hair in this performance. OMG I need to get ahold of myself. She remains my favorite singer of all time

  71. D.... S....

I looked up the term "Killing it" in the dictionary. They directed me to this video.

    D.... S....

I looked up "nailin' it" and the dictionary took me to this video also!!

    D.... S....

    Dan Sipp yessss!! Spot on!

  72. B.... M....

    Love how she moves.

  73. S.... T....

  77. W.... M....

w/ wendy, karla, & nicolette HEAVEN

  78. J.... S....

Pearl, meet yo match. top of the charts

  79. W.... S....

Great song, great voice. No one competes to her. Not one artist. She is simply the best. I hope today’s artist can learn from her...you don’t need to sell your body on stage and be sexual. Just SING. This is what true talent looks like.

  80. s.... ....

    I always loved Linda.

  81. G.... Z....

That head toss at 2:39 makes me weak in the knees

  82. S.... M....

Love this!!!! She owns that song!!! If this doesn’t make you dance, nothing will!!!

  83. f.... 2....

ARE YOU KIDDING ME !! VISUALLY AND MUSICALLY......BEAUTIFUL.....

  84. n.... ....

A lot of attitude and swag; something Ronstadt had that most female performers do not--or most males for that fact (how else do you explain Mick Jagger?). R-N-R is as much about attitude as it is about chops.

  85. m.... z....

Linda gave SOOO MUCH!! knocks me out.

  86. E.... B....

0:04 - That looks a LOT like Neil Peart of Rush, but I can't imagine any earthly reason for Neil to be on the soundboard at a Linda concert.

  87. P.... T....

she should have sang all stones songs

  88. J.... V....

    "Beautiful!"

  89. A.... P....

Amazing how she can belt out this song and her intonation is still perfect.

  90. D.... B....

Amazing lady amazing voice so many memories of teen years far better music then.

  91. h.... g....

REAL GOOD ~ Real Lady! Love Linda

  92. D.... H....

Linda Ronstadt sang this so wonderfully, I had to think about it a bit to refresh my memory that this song was written and originally performed by the Rolling Stones.
This sounded so *"right",* it could hardly be a cover, now could it!? I just love her voice!

  93. Z.... P....

    Waddy FCKING Wachtel!

  94. J.... R....

I'll take this over the Stones version any day.

  95. S.... S....

Funny in her early carrier she tryed country😏😂,dumb move Nashville .she moved to rock.

  96. K.... A....

One thing about Miss Ronstadt, is the fact that she was instrumental on getting many great musicians their start.. the eagles ,JD Souther .. etc.. she cared about the music first!!
