Led Zeppelin - Fool In The Rain Lyrics

Well there's a light in your eye that keeps shining
Like a star that can't wait for the night
I hate to think I've been blinded baby
Why can't I see you tonight?

And the warmth of your smile starts a-burning
And the thrill of your touch gives me fright
And I'm shaking so much, really yearning
Why don't you show up, make it all right?
Yeah, it's all right

And if you promised you'd love so completely
And you said you would always be true
You swore that you never would leave me, baby
What ever happened to you?

And you thought it was only in movies
As you wish all your dreams would come true
It ain't the first time believe me, baby
I'm standing here feeling blue
Yeah I'm blue

Now I will stand in the rain on the corner
I'll watch the people go shuffling downtown
Another ten minutes no longer
And then I'm turning around

The clock on the wall's moving slower
My heart it sinks to the ground
And the storm that I thought would blow over
Clouds the light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I found
Oh, that I found

Hey, babe
Whoa, hands on the clock
Just don't seem to stop when I'm thinking it over
Whoa, tired of the light
I just don't seem to find
Gotta get away, get away
Whoa, I see it in my dreams
But I just don't seem to be
I've got to get all, gotta get it all
Gotta get it all, I've got to get all

Now my body is starting to quiver
And the palms of my hands getting wet
I've got no reason to doubt you baby
It's all a terrible mess

I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless
When I'm breathless I'll run till I drop, hey
The thoughts of a fool's kind of careless
I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah
Light of the love that I found

Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I
Light of the love that I found
Light of the, hey, eh, light of the, hey, eh
Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I found

Led Zeppelin Fool In The Rain Comments
  1. G.... P....

John Bonham gives an absolute rock drumming masterclass in this track.

  2. D.... O....

For some reason when they get to the fast part it reminds me of silent movie when Bernadette Peters does her dance ending with her explosive pelvic thrust.

  3. t.... ....

This is low key their best song. not many know or heard of it. I'm 26 years old, I heard it only once on the radio and immedietly went to FYE and put on the headphones and sample tracked every led zeppelin cd they had till i found it. then i bought the album and my dad picked me up from the mall and said "Oh I love that album!" all my friends who like zeppelin don't know the name of this song. it's the last fun song zeppelin did. everyone was on top of their game. Jimmy page had a shredding guitar solo, Page's voice was razor sharp, Bonham was arguably never better, and John Paul, Jones... It was his idea to do this song in the first place. and he showcased all of his skills!

  4. f.... ....

Bad version of the purdy shuffle

  5. s.... b....

the late, great Jeff Porcaro,of Toto, quoted that this influenced his idea for the beat in 'Rosanna'

  6. a.... P....

Everybody going crazy over the drums...search "Purdie" shuffle. Thank me later

  7. R.... B....

Still cranking Led Zeppelin in 2020!

  8. S.... B....

John Bonham is the best drummer ever

  15. D.... S....

Can't believe there is even 1 dipshit that gave a thumbs down. Losers.

  16. D.... B....

And to think when it came out it this album was panned by both fans and critics?

  17. F.... V....

    3:27 just perfect

  18. N.... ....

I mean, I love music in general. Even played the trumpet back in grade school. But Bonham on those drums is sick! This is a great song to be sure, and I've loved it since I heard it back in my high school days. But at the moment, I can't think of another song, that I listen to, where the drum play just has me shaking my head in awe at the genius of it. Incredible!

  19. D.... o....

    Oh baby 💋❤️

  20. P.... S....

405 losers ;) cant figure who thinks this song and Bonham drums are not great

  21. C.... ....

Imagine a drummer like Dave Grohl tasked with the salsa beat part. He'd standard 4/4 his way through it with high elbows to look fancy, whipping his fabulous hair around like he's really doing something

    C.... ....

Neil. Peart. Could probably cruise it in one take...all the percussion too lol! 👹💪🎼 Damn...now _both_ are gone... 😞

  22. x.... 0....

    Sabahtan akşama kadar buralardayim yine

  23. P.... C....

I like boys and girls to be grand.

  24. b.... ....

    them ghost notes tho....

  25. J.... S....

Bonham..my father was a drummer . Very appreciative!

  26. N.... B....

Was listening to this at work and an African woman that I worked with stopped and listened and said "this sounds like African music" I almost teared up.

  27. M.... ....

    Why isn't this anyone's favorite🤷🏻‍♂️. One of mine😆

  28. T.... U....

anyone know what that sign over the piano guy says..beer brand?

  29. D.... A....

    John Bonham killing it.

  30. U.... ....

Zep's versatility on display right here.

    U.... ....

UpstateNYDude Jesus id say bonzo on that groove

  31. z.... ....

John Paul Jones is Led Zeppelin's secret weapon.

    z.... ....

Not an ounce of fat anywhere in Zep. All muscle. Like the Beatles and all the very best groups.

    z.... ....

John bonham was the greatest drummer too. He could groove, he could play fast, and those crisp bass drum doubles

    z.... ....

    Underrated as f

    z.... ....

lolol There are Four secret Weapons

  32. T.... C....

that solo by Page is psychotic are ragged and unusual and beautiful all at once. Nobody plays like him. He's absolutely unique.

  33. d.... k....

    Genius period. . .

  34. e.... ....

Half time swing shuffle with triplet hi hats. Bonham was in a class of his own.

  35. M.... T....

Omg that samba break though 🤤♥️🙌🏽🔥💯 Zeppelin is the best

  36. F.... N....

What's that smell; is that patchouli?

  37. S.... ....

    🍷🚬💨💨💨💨💨
    💃💃💃💃💃💃💃
    🍷🚬💨💨💨💨💨

  38. P.... C....

    Eyes are shining

  39. w.... 1....

This album marked the passing of Led Zep. The band was moving towards solo careers regardless of Bonzo's demise. Plant had just lost his son , hence "All of my love". Page was at his worst with Heroin. Jones was doing other projects. The Zep had run its course.

  40. J.... H....

The salsa breakdown really made me dance and rock out at the same time. So genius of the drums and the piano mashed together. Now I love salsa rock music.

    J.... H....

This is salsa beats...study hard. https://youtu.be/ELuJI6ALCkY

  41. R.... L....

The funny part is if you grew up in this area of music, you just assumed that this was how music should sound. Fast forward to now and what the f**k!

  42. S.... P....

One of my favorite songs ever!!!

  43. M.... C....

    Simplemente LED ZEPPELIN

    M.... C....

  44. K.... R....

    Such an underrated album..

    K.... R....

indeed...oddly, I seem to be in the minority thinking that this is their best album. 🎼🎧💪🎸🎹👹👍

  45. C.... ....

JPJ adds so much to this song

  46. o.... i....

Rosaaaaaaanna, ... oh wait no wrong shuffle.

  47. b.... ....

    dude, bonzo is *crazy*

  48. B.... C....

The overall feeling of this song is that the guy is such a softcock about his girl. Geez, there’s 7 billion people, just find another one.FFS !

  49. R.... B....

I Love The Drums At The 2.34 Mark Amazing!

  53. D.... D....

Top 10 guitar solos of all time! Don't ask who the other nine are 😂

  54. F.... R....

It’s crazy how this song sound nothing like Zeppelin but because of the drums and vocals you can still tell that it’s them.

  55. M.... G....

Didn't we all just end up here via the Xmas episode of Chat 10 Looks 3 where Leigh recommended episode 400 of The Dollop about Reagan, and then The Ramones sang Bonzo goes to Bitsburg about him being a Nazi and then that John Bonham video came up and that's what she was talking about and they said that Fool in the Rain has crazy swing.
    Didn't we?
Internet's great. Its modern Readers Digest of distraction.

  56. P.... M....

is this a motherfucking brazil reference!!?

  57. M.... ....

Hey Bonzo, Toto lifted some of your riff there.

    M.... ....

    Which song?

  58. E.... N....

420 comments... I am lucky for noticing

  59. J.... L....

    Wrong block 🤦🏼‍♂️

  60. l.... ....

Oh god how could this be soo good. I keep getting soo lost in the complexity of it.

  61. S.... 1....

Present and in though the out Door have a good drums, bad the voice kills the songs, is good, but, led zeppelin 1 is Better, I' m sorry

  62. L.... S....

Everyone says that they were geniuses of polyrhythmic music but has anyone considered that they just never told bonzo the time signature and he just assumed it was 4/4

  63. L.... ....

    No one:
    Absolutely no one:
2:26 : the Dora theme song

    L.... ....

    Shit now I hear it

    L.... ....

Laz Well, at least we know what song Dora the Explorer ripped off from.

    Just kidding.

  64. L.... A....

    Drum heaven... ❤️🥁❤️

  65. m.... ....

..aren't you just a little bit curious about who would give this a thumbs down? Those people need to go.

  66. A.... ....

I prefer the 1990 remaster:/ the drums sounded better

  67. K.... B....

Can listen to this over and over, the drums are amazing. I love the way he drums to the lyrics.

  68. E.... G....

John Bonham. Jeez dude how did you do it?

  69. A.... C....

Of a the talent in the room my personal opinion is that Bonham is best at his instrument. The drums to me sound like it should be in a hard riffed rock song but fit so perfectly in this song!

  70. A.... B....

WHY DO I HEAR A bit of LA BAMBA in riff and drums?

    A.... B....

    - in terms of music theory, both songs have a similar tonality due to the chord progression I - iV - V ( spoken as "1-4-5" , "1" being of the root/1st chord in a key)
    - in cultural terms, both songs are a hybrid of rock n' roll & Latino rhythm.

  71. L.... A....

For Alex who is gone too soon...thanks for playing my songs.

  72. 1.... ....

    John Henry at his best...

  73. S.... S....

I'm wearing their band shirt right now - listening to this awesome tune. RIP John Bonham.

  74. T.... P....

Did you hear that polyrhythm from John Bonham?

  75. f.... ....

that drum shuffle groove. No one did it better than Bonzo.

  76. D.... M....

Some of you down thumbers are waiting on the wrong block.

  77. s.... d....

This makes me wanna continue getting drunk even though it's barely noon on a Tuesday

  78. R.... A....

I have loved this as my favourite drum song for half my life. But if we ignore the drums (gasp) is this not a better love song than most written since? It is very genuine and much more unique than most contrived love songs of the 80s or 90s or the shit after.

  79. I.... n....

This is definitely hard to do for such a long time he’s got a lot going on here and I know because I’m a drummer myself

    I.... n....

Yeah man I just recently learned the Bonham shuffle, it's one of my favorites

    I.... n....

    @Ethan Papathomopoulos *purdie shuffle mate

  80. j.... c....

like of is song has been found

  81. M.... D....

Listen to the Bonzo's isolated drum track. It will blow your mind.

  82. A.... ....

Holy shit there will never be another like bonham

  83. R.... ....

Can anyone tell me where this picture is from?

    R.... ....

It's the album cover of in through the out door.

    R.... ....

@Viktor Andersson Thank you!! Getting a print made and framing it. Such a great picture!

  84. C.... K....

I doubt the snap on that snare can ever be bested. And the shuffle is truly the best ever - with respect to Jeff Porcaro.

  85. O.... F....

    At 2:22 pure salsa

  86. T.... S....

Ah Jon Bonham playing a half time shuffle like it's just a plain ass 4/4 beat..no one AND I REPEAT no one can touch prime Jon Bonham on the sticks

    T.... S....

One of the best ever, but I gotta say Ginger Baker was right up there with him.

  87. s.... d....

Always makes me wanna get drunk af...oh wait I always am

  88. T.... U....

    But them god-forsaken drums, though.

  89. T.... U....

Listen closely and tell me John Bonham wasn't the best blues rock drummer of the Late 20th century.

    T.... U....

Toughen Up, Fluffy, i think he is one the best drummers ever. In any genre! Innovative, groovy, hard, soft, always the leader of the instruments! He was a genius!!

  90. R.... K....

Another interesting thing about this album is that it's the only Zep album that had more song writing credits to Plant/Jones than Page/Plant, by many accounts Jimmy was pretty strung out at the time and so the others picked up the slack.

  91. R.... B....

The Drums In Fool In The Rain Are Up There With Kashmir And Whole Lotta Love And In My Time Of Dying And Black Dog IMO

  92. C.... J....

Such an important and superb drum pattern. I finally learned this groove after a lot of practice. Learning it has made me a better drummer, I faithfully play it  several times to warm up... Bonham left such a gift with his drumming, his influence so immeasurable

  93. T.... B....

Bonham spraying you with an uzi at 1:12

  94. R.... R....

Been listing to Zeppelin for 40 plus years and the songs never get old

  95. L.... I....

Blows my f ing mind people down-vote this

  96. K.... C....

    2019 😁

  97. N.... M....

Damn I'm feelin this track. Used to love hearing it at work before I learned it was Zeppelin. 70s and 80s rock n roll is the best!!!

  98. J.... D....

Yeah the drum rhythm is good, but the one thing that always shocks me is how full the drums sound. I wondered how they mic'd and recorded it. I never heard such a full drum sound before.

    J.... D....

Jimmy Page knew how to record drums and Bonham knew how to tune a kit and strike the skins
