Led Zeppelin - Candy Store Rock Lyrics

Well... Oh baby baby. Don't you want a man like me?
Oh baby baby, I'm just as sweet as anybody could be
Oh baby baby, I want to look to your eyes, of blue
Oh baby baby, It's more than anybody else could do

Well... Oh baby baby. You know when I see you walkin down the street
Oh baby baby, Well you lookin good enough to eat
Oh baby baby, I dont believe I've tasted this before
Oh baby baby, I want it now
And every mouthfull more of you.

Talk about you, Yeah.

Oh baby baby, You know that I wanted it more
Oh baby baby, I'm about to kiss goodbye to this store
Oh baby baby, It ain't the wrapping that sells the goods
Oh baby baby, I got a sweet tooth when my mouth is full of you.

Ooh baby oh baby its alright, its alright
Ohh baby its alright...its alright

Well, oh baby, baby, oh you sting like a bee
Oh baby, baby, I like your honey and it sure likes me
Oh baby, baby, I got my spoon inside your jar
Oh baby, baby, don't give me too much, don't make me starve

Oh baby, baby, sugar sister on a silver plate
Oh baby, baby, I need a mouthful and I just can't wait
Oh baby, baby, see the shaking in my hand
Oh baby, baby, don't mean to fumble but it tastes so grand
Tastes so grand, tastes so grand, baby it's alright

Oh baby it's alright, oh it's alright
It's alright... [repeat]

  9. juares alves

    WONDERFULL !!!

  10. Flat Earth Punks

The Scotty Moore tribute intro makes this song.

  11. Mark

Lots of experimenting on this album by Page on this album

  12. Matthew James

PRESENCE= The last great Led Zeppelin album. Sorry folks, but In Through The Out Door wasn’t truly representational of pure Zep power. Jimmy had kinda checked out. Hot Dog, All of My Love and Fool in the Rain were all well written tunes...but the Zep edge was gone. I love this album because to me, it represents the last of Zep’s awesome power

    Christopher Lees

    Music isn't about power.

    Matthew James

Christopher Lees Weak album comparatively to Zep’s previous POWERFUL greatness. In Through The Out Door was like O’Doul’s is to beer. It wasnt really Zeppelin. Presence was their last rockin album. Name one Zep album that you’d rate as lesser than In Through The Out Door?

    Matthew James

Christopher Lees when it comes to Led Zep...it IS about power. Otherwise, just listen to the Bee Gee’s🙄smh

    M M

Agree. And to add, the music scene had changed big time when in through the outdoor was released. It's definitely my least fav zepplin album

  13. William Goldrick

i love this track it reminds me of the juke boxes on the fort lauderdale strip ,zeppelin blaired into the evening it is amazing how the mighty led zep can capture time great events in our lives.Presence is a fantastic album i lover it.

  14. Alan Scott

..........Jimmy Page was great wasn't he?

  15. Coy Leigh

Damn, this song sounds like something from the 1950's. I can dig it.

  16. Frankincensed

I can tell you that there's rarely a Zep song I don't like, but on this album, there's no breaks. Each song is unique, hard hitting, and rockin' like hell. Presence has always been one of my favorite Zep albums, along with III, Physical Graffiti, and Houses of the Holy.

  17. hitman

Presence is not underrated as any Zeppelin fan can tell you, fuck my go to Zep album for years, I used to play this album when people would say they don't like them, then they changed their minds.I remember Joe Elliott mouthing off once about how Presence sucks, since then Joe's sort of an asshole.

  18. raydarable

    Has anyone seen the bridge?

    Colby Lovins

raydarable said, excuse me! I’m just looking for the bridge!

  19. rebirth70

Gotta love this rockabilly tribute. They take something simple, and make it sound like it is multifaceted genius. ALways wondered why this album was rated so low in their catalog. I have it right under physical graffiti, then next the underrated in thru the outdoor. But most of their underrated albums would be apex/masterpieces for other bands. Thats how good they were. God/Jesus bless and save all that read this.

  20. CookieRepairProjects

You guys are all on crack, this song is shit

  21. Rags Rocco

    Plant doin his elvis style

  22. Anthony Youkhanna

    Most underrated song

  23. Blazer Fats

Candy store rock tribute to Elvis..Plant had so much range it was insane

  24. Andrew Corbett

Zep should of done this live

  25. NG0922

I realize that Presence came about only as a result of Plant's car accident, and that studio time was hard to come by. But I really do wish they had taken a little more time developing the album. There's some really good stuff there, but Candy Store, Royal Orleans, and a couple others sound like nothing more than outtakes from earlier better albums. Presence was the beginning of the end of Led Zeppelin.

  26. Perry Comeau

I adore wheel chairs with a Cassie.

  27. Tupolev 144

If Page does another solo album its got to have this 50's vibe to it you get with some of the songs from Presence. He really did his homework on rock and roll guitar and all by listening to records as a kid. That string bending before the solo, Page can pull some amazing stuff out of the bag that avoids being pedestrian.

  28. username10

    Elvis??? :-)

  46. CDaniel J80

Robert Plant was in a wheel chair while recording this album. Pretty amazing considering how good these tracks are.

    thespeez spezio

I think he was critically injured while on vacation in Greece just beforehand.

    Peter Houle

seriously injured. critically injured means that you die from said injury.

    thespeez spezio

@Peter Houle - Not so; an injury from which you die is considered terminal.

  47. Dudelike Guy

Bonzo and Elvis deliver me the goods!!!!

  48. Roland Garza

Achilles last stand was one of my favorite by Jimmy i just finished hearing it love the LED

  49. Brookie Storer

  51. Rock21

One of the few bad Zep songs. Legendary band, bit this song is clunky and awkward

    ABoxOfBroken8Tracks

I love it _because_ it is clunky and awkward.

I was just thinking that this came out before Elvis died, wonder if by chance he ever heard it?

  57. Otto Greenleaf

Happy Birthday today(January 3) to John Paul Jones. Cheers!

  58. 666xb

    I got this vinyl! xD

  59. Bob's Bar

I've enjoyed this album since the day it was released !

  60. MSH68

Bonzo and JPJ really doin' work in this one. Listen closely to the unique synched rhythm section. And then a key change just to make things interesting. Impressive.

    Jean Pierre Reynoso-Fournel

    DAMN MAN MUCH LOVE!

    thespeez spezio

IIRC Page and Plant wrote virtually all teh tunes on this album without input from Bonzo or JPJ.

    Floraline

Complicated odd-time, with an island sound. I dated a drummer but never really learned to count odd time like he did. Zep had reached maturity with this for sure.

  61. Wesley Warren

I think this song shows Bonzo was on full Bonzo drive 😣

  62. Nick Travis

I dig this rock, it's a Led Zepp version of early 60's stuff. Yep great guitar.

  63. Constantine

Most underrated album of all time. Superior guitar, great vocals and the best rhythm section ever. Some folks dog Page's guitar playing in their later days, heroin will do that to you, but a little story. Achilles last stand was Page's favorite. But when he played the song for Kieth Richards, Kieth thought the guitar was so layered and overdubbed that NO ONE could ever play it live. Their are videos on youtube that put that idea to bed. Page was the greatest overall rock guitar player ever.

    Paul Rafferty

@Paul Young Sliced the tip of his finger off? You sure about that? Lol

Any Minor World That Breaks Apart

What do you mean Keith Richards "thought" the guitar was so layered and overdubbed? It IS. Its not an opinion. The studio version has many many different guitar tracks. Him saying that noone could play it live is true. And noone ever will. That is, noone will ever play all the guitar parts of the studio track live. Just because LZ still performed the song it doesnt prove Keith Richards wrong. Page quite clearly had to pick which parts of the studio track he was going to play live. He didnt grow 8 arms and play the whole thing just the way Keith Heard it when he made that comment. Such a stupid exaggerated story... they said NO ONE would EVER play it live, they said it was IMPOSSIBLE, even Keith Richards - the guitarist from one of Englands greatest bands whimpered and keeled over at the mere thought. But one man... Jimmy Page proved them all wrong and was forever known as the GREATEST OVERALL ROCK GUITARIST EVER!!!! And if thats not enough hyperbole for you dont forget this is THE MOST UNDERRATTED ALBUM OF ALL TIME!!!!

    Vito Plusch

Most people don't know it's about sex

    Vito Plusch

Trampled under foot also.....total sex lyrically

    Sandy Holliday

You and me both buddy love Jimmy's guitar playing. He is the best, to hell with the rest.

  64. MrDark21knight

i think the break is jaw dropping power

    Jean Pierre Reynoso-Fournel

    WHERE IS THIS "BREAK"

    Chris Evans

I think he means at about the 1:53 mark or so.

  65. nycinstyle

Just one of the kick ass melodies on it. Jimmy was in top form.
    Page has stated this is his favorite Zep album; P - R - E - S - E - N - C -E.

  66. Otto Greenleaf

Reminds me of my "Candy Store" days. Arcus Candy Store at 17th & Providence in Chester, Pa. circa '78. Also has an Elvis vibe. Cheers!

    Jeremy Heintz

Otto Greenleaf it should, rockabilly was one of Pages guitar influences.

    Jean Pierre Reynoso-Fournel

    CHEERS!

  67. ThePopMoss

I really like this one. The hits from this album seem very familiar. Nobody's Fault But Mine sounds like a variation on Bring It On Home, for instance. But this song does what the album set out to do (return to their rock roots) without actually repeating themselves. The album cover and this song match up the best, if that makes sense.

And just an observation, but Achilles Last Stand sounds a lot like the end of Pink Floyd's Pigs. Not that one copied the other, just an observation.

  68. mrvegas61

Whenever I make a best of Led Zeppelin CD for the car I always include this one. Great guitar and Robert Plant is awesome.

    Ken Salazar

I laugh when people say they make a "best of led zeppelin " compilation, seriously I do lol. I new someone who put together something he called essential zeppelin, lol. I have ALL of their tracks ALL OF THE TIME!! Because its ALL [email protected]!😉

    Apollo Alexandre

    @Ken Salazar Wow...you're so cool...

  69. Harold D Burke

I personally think this is one of their greatest songs. "Stairway" I can live without....I grew up with Led Zeppelin and saw two concerts. I love that band and the memories they gave me.

    Joey Huebner

Harold D Burke- I'm a bit late to the conversation, but Stairway is an integral part of the catalogue. It's just that nobody really looks past their early stuff, which is such a shame, because the later material was truly groundbreaking.

  70. Reprehensible Meshuggah

This album isn't about broadening Led's appeal or major experimenting; it's about unleashing the power in their raw core roots. It's an improvement to Led Zeppelin I.

The Elvis-like vocals are awesome too

    Guitar Player

There is no "improvement to Led Zeppelin I". The original is always the best and every Zeppelin record carries its own greatness.

    Jody Neal

    agree on both counts. totally

    HoneyBee 115

    James Reeno That’s the point.

    tower king

make no mistake, they got there A game on with Presence

  71. DSC8389 THEBESTSHOP

    This is gangster!

  72. Nacht Schreck

presence is vastly underappreciated. it takes a certain amount of maturity to understand, I believe. I hated it in my early teens when I had first gotten heavily into Zeppelin. I've learned to really dig every tune on this album immensely.

    Erik Petriccioli

    I agree!

    Joe Rockhead

I bought it in my teens when it came out. After listening to it a couple times it became one of my favorite albums. Underrated is a understatement.

    The Fire Movie Secondary

I used to despise this album I thought it was Terrible but it has really grown on me.

Any Minor World That Breaks Apart

"really dig every tune on this album immensely"? EVERY TUNE? Why do people never comment in shades of realistic greys about anything. Its always THE GREATEST, THE MOST UNDERRATTED, IN MY DESERT ISLAND ALBUMS. Noone ever just comments - its a really good album with some of LZs greatest tracks as well as some fairly weak tracks.
This very song for example - Candy Store Rock - its just not even close to the top LZ songs - not even half way - in fact its near the bottom. I personally wouldnt miss it one bit if i never heard it again. Achilles Last Stand on the other hand was life changing and Tea for One and For Your Life are both amazing. The rest is just fine. Sorry my little review doesnt have great big grand sweeping hyperbolic assertions.

    Party Van!

PhilepeCornelio1 - I like Presence but that’s BS. Intellect has nothing to do with musical taste.

  73. hZ Kost

Thumbs up every time for this one

  74. Adrian Rivera

a lot of people don't like this song but it has some great guitar parts and the rhythm section is on point

    james Morgan

    Agreed. Great tune.

    Neil Ellis

arguably there greatest album, every song is a killer

    Spazzoid Studio

    Neil Ellis "their"

    Spazzoid Studio

Adrian Rivera people that don't like this song probably don't like funk either.

    Allen Albright

Plant's singing is amazing here too.

  75. Jeffrey Loden

love it all. brings back fun memories

  76. Les Paul

Side 2 of this album was 23-24 minutes. They could've left this one off and it wouldn't have been missed. Otherwise it's a great album

    Starbuck2015

I've always liked this. Led Zep took a stab at Rockabilly and with the exception of Plant's usual crappy lyrics it works.

    moirajean8

Usual crappy lyrics? So tell us starbuck....what gems have YOU wrote?

    Gabe Morehouse

    +moirajean8 fuck off

    Adrian Rush

I love Zep's music, but Plant can be a sore spot for me too. The lyrics are just bad sometimes, like Spinal Tap bad. And when his voice gets too high and shrill, it can just be irritating. Most of the time I just tune it out and key in on Pagey and Bonzo.

All that said, I love this song. The only track I could do without on Presence is "Tea for One."

    ABoxOfBroken8Tracks

    I would've missed it.
