I would challenge you to not accept cultural assumptions about christianity and to go to the scriptures to test everything. It isn't helpful for us to assume that curse words we might use are the same as Paul's use of the word "obscenities and coarse joking."

Cursing is used to bring people down and when you can't find the right word. It's foul and offensive and why would Jesus act like that? We're supposed to act like Jesus. If you think Jesus would condone cursing then...Paul doesn't condone "obscenities and "coarse joking" either. Ephesians 5:4

Rad, so where did Paul say that our modern cuss words are "unclean"? I think you have to be careful about applying phariseeical laws (like no cussing) as a way to prove you're a christian. When a non-believer sees you not cussing they don't see Jesus, they see someone who's good at following the rules.

I would be careful about assuming that the new testament says certain things about profanity.

@GangstaBunny11 your right there is no such thing as a bad Christian but there is such a thing as a real Christian (Galatians 5:25) and a Lukewarm Christian (Revelations 3:15) Jesus called us to repent of all of our sins and turn from them because the kingdom of God is coming soon, no true Christian cusses and lives in sin. We're called to be not of this world but to just live in it as His soldiers and do His will, that is why everyday is a battle of spiritual warfare.

Jesus died for sin and saved us but this doesnt include were without of sin now at ALL.
Its a constant battle which u would lose as human, altho u can regret it and ask forgiveness and ull receive thats what purifies us. not our own actions or words. Nor can u fully be purified until u die this doesnt mean u dont have to aim for perfectionisme.
