Lanegan, Mark - Ode To Sad Disco Lyrics
The sun's tolling bell
Subterranean eyes
A thousand to one
The factory line
Stars outside the window flicker and shine
A mountain of nails burn in your hands
Here I give all I am
Gloria
I get down on my knees
Further from my own
A tower of stones
Sympathy's shade
Ride a white horse
A diamond headed serpent climbs a vine
See all the lonely children lose their minds
A mountain of dust burns in your mouth
Here there's no north, just south
Gloria
I get down on my knees
Further from my own
Thirst swollen tongue
An arcadian twist
The sleepwalk is done
Yet the notion persists
Cars outside the window careening by
The hollow headed morning is unkind
Gloria
I get down on my knees
Further from my own
Under a cliff
Darkness denied
Here I have seen the light
Here I have seen the light

Lanegan, Mark Ode To Sad Disco Comments
Mark Lanegan knows how to make good music
A mountain of nails burn in your hands
my favorite song ever
this song should be used in the American Gods
The sun’s tolling bell, subterranean eyes
A thousand to one, the factory line
Stars outside the window flicker and shine
The hollow headed morning isn’t blind
A mountain of nails burn in your hands
Here I give all I am
Gloria
I get down on my knees
Further from my own
A tower of stones, sympathy’s shade
Ride a white horse, the drowned on parade
A diamond headed serpent climbs a vine
See all the lonely children lose their minds
A mountain of dust burns in your mouth
Here there’s no north, just south
Gloria
I get down on my knees
Further from my own
Thirst swollen tongue, an arcadian twist
The sleepwalk is done, yet the notion persists
Cars outside the window careening by
The hollow headed morning is unkind
Oh sorry, Michael Blaine = Geekrockrats
So glad to have discovered Mr Lanegan and Ms Campbell, Thank god for these two
I saw him on this tour. It was such a strange sight seeing the crowd looking like they were hypnotized,I've never seen anything like it. Just fucking great. I don't remember the name of the opening band but their voices were so powerful that the did an entire acoustic song without using mics and we could hear them perfectly, again something I'd never seen
I love the pain and weariness in his voice when he sings the word "Nails",if you didn't notice go back and listen and you'll know exactly what I mean. It's like on that line he was just remembering some bad news that was a source of great pain. Aside from maybe Layne Staley and few others I don't know anyone who can convey all that in one word
That actually happens each verse when he gets to that part but it's a different word each time. Same emotion though. Well me it was nice talking to myself,a credit to....
geekrockrats yeah, i've notice that these words, "Nails" and "teeth", are very often used in his lyrics, wasn't aware of the emotion or 'pain' in the singing tho', good observation.
😮🔥🔥 Sorry,I had to do that seeing your thumbnail
la amo!
Too overlooked. Too good? Ha.
Reminds me of New Order
M. Lanegan is incapable of crap music !
Paul S you speak the truth
...sei tu che nn capisci di musica...che cazzo lo ascolti a fare allora?? If you want I write also English....want??
its nuts. he's fucking fantastic.
Yeah man go for it
True dat :)
Todo el CD es un viaje!!!! The whole CD it's a trip!!!!
Great song! Love that eighties sound
gulp. lump in the throat...
Pensé que era la única que escuchaba esta canción hasta hartarse mientras viaja :D
Todo el rato! Es perfecta
This song really captures the vibe of driving back home after a night out. The sun slowly risin during dawn, the empty avenues, all the thoughts and impressions you get after some show or party .
..since the early 90s Mark Lanegan can do no wrong...fuckin genius! He has sound tracked my life.
my favorite album of 2012 by far.
damn this song's got a groove to it
For my son Hugo the last track you liked and i liked...The only track we haven't got the time to share...Hugo i 'm in the sky with you my loved son....
So sad to hear that my friend
He’s singing it back to you now,we’ve never met but I’ll always associate this song with both of you for the rest of my life. Remain strong brother
and its a great album
i agree one of best of 2o12 in top 5
i prefer the mood of the original inspiration: sad disco by keli hlodversson
Wha? BUBBLEGUM has a bunch of good stuff on it- that and WHISKEY are my favs.....Wanted so badly to hear "Carnival" live when I saw him last spring. Didn't hear it, but met the man. Good stuff
Yep - it's bloody great!!!
Lanegan always was one of the most underrated vocalists of his time and also one of the bast. nothing has changed in that regard.
one of the most underrated artists nowaday!
mark you're the man
Wow, what a song! Love Mark Lanegan, but only just heard this for the first time. Wow!

This, Quiver Syndrome and Phantasmagoria Blues are the only ones I've really got into so far on this album, but they all kick ass
Great record! Thanks again Mr Lanegan for touching the soul
stupid me made a fuck of me.
lol.. it is, my stupid media player made a fuck of me.
this is not ode to sad disco.
one of the greatest roadsongs ever... when u r goin' nowhere, passing bridges and the day is comin' to an end.
down on yr knees
The back beat is a composition by Keli Hlodversson. Lanegan didn't make it. He just added stuff to it. The original is called, you guessed it, "Sad Disco!" You may have heard the original. It does scream 80's though.
Anyways, I really like this, I think Lanegan's voice works well with almost anything. I love this album to pieces! Seeing him May 13th!
My mind can't comprehend why people seem to think this song's horrible. It's a great song.
this is one of the great songs of 2012 and you right listen loud
This is actually surprisingly good. As far as former lead singers of Seattle grunge outfits doing an electronic album, this is streets ahead.
Not bad... At least he's moving into new territory.
Depeche Mode by way of Mark Lanegan...why hasn't this happened before?
Love it!
