Lamar, Kendrick - Good Kid Lyrics
[Pharrell Williams:]
Mass hallucination, baby
Ill education, baby
Want to reconnect with your elations?
This is your station, baby
Look inside these walls and you see I'm havin' withdrawals
Of a prisoner on his way
Trapped inside your desire to fire bullets that stray
Track attire just tell you I'm tired and ran away
I should ask a choir: "What do you require
To sing a song that acquire me to have faith?"
As the record spin I should pray
For the record, I recognize that I'm easily prey
I got ate alive yesterday
I got animosity buildin', it's prob'ly big as a buildin'
But what am I 'posed to do when the topic is red or blue
And you understand that I ain't
But know I'm accustomed to just a couple that look for trouble
And live in the street with rank
No better picture to paint than me walkin' from bible study
And called his homies because he had said he noticed my face
From a function that tooken place, they was wonderin' if I bang
Step on my neck and get blood on your Nike checks
I don't mind 'cause one day you'll respect
The good kid, m.A.A.d city
Mass hallucination, baby
Ill education, baby
Want to reconnect with your elations?
This is your station, baby
All I see is strobe lights, blindin' me in my hindsight
Findin' me by myself, promise me you can help
In all honesty I got time to be copacetic until
You had finally made decision to hold me against my will
It was like a head on collision that folded me standing still
I can never pick out the difference and grade a cop on the bill
Every time you clock in the morning, I feel you just want to kill
All my innocence while ignorin' my purpose to persevere
As a better person; I know you heard this and probably in fear
But what am I 'posed to do when the blinkin' of red and blue
Flash from the top of your roof and your dog has to say woof
And you ask: "Lift up your shirt," because you wonder if a tattoo
Of affiliation can make it a pleasure to put me through
Gang files, but that don't matter because the matter is racial profile
I heard 'em chatter: "He's prob'ly young, but I know that he's down
Step on his neck as hard as your bullet-proof vest
He don't mind, he know we'll never respect
The good kid, m.A.A.d. city."
Mass hallucination, baby
Ill education, baby
Want to reconnect with your elations?
This is your station, baby
All I see in this room: 20's, Xannies and these 'shrooms
Grown-up candy for pain, can we live in a sane
Society? It's entirely stressful upon my brain
You hired me as a victim, I quietly hope for change
When violence is the rhythm, inspired me to obtain
The silence in this room with 20's, Xannies and 'shrooms
Some grown-up candy, I lost it, I feel it's nothin' to lose
The streets sure to release the worst side of my best
Don't mind, 'cause now you ever in debt to good kid, m.A.A.d. city
Mass hallucination, baby
Ill education, baby
Want to reconnect with your elations?
This is your station, baby

Lamar, Kendrick Good Kid Comments
2:33 - 2:58
My favorite part.
This song is so beast
This might be my album favorite. Build up and mixing trough each verse is fascinating
What am I supposed to do when the blinking of red and blue flash from a top of your roof and ya dawg has to say WOOF.
You can literally feel the tension rising in these verses
The first time I listened to this entire album was back in university. Everyone was d--kriding Odd Future and I hated it, although few people kept making noise about how GKMC was an instant classic. I wasn't really a fan of "Swimming pools" and "The receipt", but I played this album whilst doing Calculus. I was intersted in most of the songs until I reached Good Kid. I never heard a rap song constructed like that in my life. I immediately stopped calculus and went straight to rap genius. By the end of the night I had scrolled through every song on Rap genius for every song on GKMC. This song made me realize that Kendrick was a whole different ball game.

Straight fireee from the jump.
1:52 - 2:15 best part
Bro this shit is so fire
😍😍 damn man.
“I should ask a choir what do you require to sing a song that acquire me to have faith” sheesh 🔥
Dam this song gives me chills.
The ambiance of this beat beautiful yet there’s a sense of looming trouble that builds
I wish I’d made a comment on here when I first heard this in 2012
this album got me through high school, and this song was my favorite
He makes some weird music but damn he comes with the heat
Trey from Boyz N The Hood… understand that character and you’ll understand this song
we were studying this song in english last year lol
People sleep on this track to me it's the best on da album. Also this is Kendrick best album
I tried playing a Kendrick song at a party one time because they were playing some trash mumble rap and halfway through the song they went and turned it off and put on a lil yachty. At that point, I had lost all hope in humanity.
Who still bumping this in 2019? Like
That beat.
When he says “I can never pick out the difference and grade a cop on the bill. Every time you click in the morning, I feel you just want to kill.” Damn
2019 and still here
I can't stop ya lol.. This is my 14th time listening to this song back to back lol.. The sound of this shit is so fucking good
An underrated song, and one of his best.
This song is art.
The way that Kendrick juxtaposes the similar effects that the police and gangs have both had on him negatively, is simply fucking powerful and sad all at once.
Would've made a dope video
It’s nearly 2019 and I’ve been coming back to this album ever since it was out and I’ve literally just found out the hook is Pharrell 😂
10 Minutes à perdre ?
Yes 2018!
Mass hallucination baby

GKMC is straight classic masterpiece album , Kendrick best rapper in his generation idc about other names
I play good kid mad city album everyday , masterpiece 💯
Probably my favorite k.dot track. He didn't curse at all and the lyrics are so deep. Some of his his best lyrical songs.
This duo is kind of like a modern-day Warren G & Nate Dogg...
His most underated song

Drake), m.A.A.d city and Swimming Pools; the other songs are still remember somehow but what about the song: good kid?
This track is so fucking underrated.
Kendrick will go down as the GOAT and it won’t even be close
Did a school project on this song
Definetly under rated
This album is beast! Kendrick's best
This song really doesn’t get enough credit, one of the best he’s released
I use to listen to this when I was 8 now I'm 13 lol.
One of the worst times in my life was when I was up for a fourth day on vyvanse. It was 3 AM. The stomach pains had grown to a point that led me on the path to crying, although I held it in. I was paranoid and afraid of what was out there, so I pulled the covers over my head to act as a makeshift barrier against the ills of the outside, although the main problems I was facing at that period were inside. I put on this song and it acted as the anthem for dysphoria. I was finally able to fall asleep, although I woke up feeling twice as bad. I guess that's what you get when amphetamine eats your body and drinks your blood.
Soo underated🤦🏽♀️
This song is soo fireeee🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bruh his breath control is ridiculous
Pharrell did his thing on this beat 💯
And Kendrick Lawd need I say anything 🔥🎤
This > M.a.ad city
Everything about this is absolutely stunning. The lyrics are obviously the highlight, but the production and his rapping combine with them to make an *experience*, which few songs can do for me.
we live in Brooklyn, baby!!
mass hallucination babyyyyyyyy.....
step on my neck and get blood on your nike checks💯
best song of the album
What is that beautiful sound at 2:07 and 2:51? Is it from somewhere?
this track makes u think "Damn'" this is one of kendricks best songs. his verse is so technical
Mass hallucination baby ill education baby
the best song on the album
Sleeper song on that legendary record.
Verse 1: Streets
Verse 2: Police
Verse 3: Drugs
This is your station baby fav part
That lyrical play is insane
Listen on LSD. You understand.
My favorite song of Kendrick and probably one of his most under-rated ! What a song with a amazingly production from Pharrell.
Hell yeah !
ILL as Track !!! 🔥🔥🔥✔️
instant classic
*looks up good kid lyrics*
*sees this* NO I MEANT THE SONG FROM THE TLT MUSICAL
live long Kendrick
Can people just stop with underrated and overrated crap. Either way you'll stay unsatisfied.
"Step on his neck as hard as your bulletproof vest"
"The streets sure to release the worst side of my best"
This song is so under appreciated and underrated. M.A.A.D City gets most of the praise .
The only thing keeping Kendrick from being considered the best is the 90s nostalgia of Tupac and biggie
Fuckin love that bass
!!!!!!!!@#$4*************
All the boys in the comment section out here lookin like English teachers with the lyrical dissection good shit
good kid maad city was always my favorite album ever the stories are good and u can feel them through this music all the songs in that album are all fire
This song hits hard about gangs and police both being common factor of enemies.
sickest song ever made
It's either this or " between the bars" by Elliott smith, as the most beautifully depressing songs of all time.
top 5 kendrick song ever.
sometimes kendrick is just so good i cant help but laugh
fuuuuckkk
it's so nice to see a rapper these days I can actually call an ARTIST and that takes time to perfect his craft, this guy didn't just wake up one day and start rapping like this, i'm not saying he's the only one out there but Kendrick is just hot right now & will be for a LONG time!!
This song is lyrically and instrumentally perfect, my favorite off the album. M.A.A.D City is an amazing song too but the lyrics don't hit me as hard as this song., I think that song got so big because the beat is incredible. Gets me so amped.
fucking masterpiece
lmfao, I never knew dat was Pharrell either!! best song on da album BY FAR, swimming pools reason I bought the album tho, just cuz it was more mainstream, I loved it when I heard it 1st couple a times on da radio
Still fire five years on
Who's here in 2017?!!
Mass hallucination baby
Ill education baby
Wanna reconnect with your elations
This is your station baby
One of the Best Songs lyrically In Rap History. IMO
Datsizer I mean subject matter attached with lyrics but nah dude niggas like lupe and Mick jenkins on p's and Q's lyricism was better on those joints..... with that being said kendrick is better than those two but they are more literarily inclined
Datsizer You haven’t heard Lupe Fiasco then. That man is so lyrically ahead that it makes me question whether he’s even human.
good kid and sing about me are the best on the album
Definitely the best track on the album, maybe after M.A.A.D City. Is it me or is it like totally underrated?
This one is definitely underrated but I think there are several on there that don't get the respect they deserve. Sing About Me, and Black Boy Fly could arguably be the best songs on there as well and nobody really talks about those.
+Armz Totally, i like dying of thirst part the best
Definitely underrated man, probably because between a hit song like Poetic Justice and a song in Maad City that's basically the climax of the album
Definitely underrated. Definitely
Nah, good stuff like this doesn't go unnoticed. The people who don't see are missing out, its just not for them. But as long as we're all here, music like this won't be underated.
BRUUHHHHHHHHH I never knew that was pharrell!!!! lmao
Jake wait fr?
laron walker yep.. Pharrell even coproduced 'Alright'
neither
Yep song sampled from an old Need tracj
kendrick is before his time not ahead cuz rap is jus gonna get worse...exept for that little spot for the good rappers like kendrick j cole logic ect.
straight focus when you writing shit like that... Or stupid vibe mode and that's rear.
THE BEST TO DO IT.
addicting ass song
