The more years I spend on this earth, the more I`m convinced the VOICE of a distinct lead singer is more essential for a rock band than a Lead Guitar player. Now I`m saying this as a lead guitar player myself. But the lyrics and melodies of Phil Lewis on this song are impeccable and resemble every single thing L.A Guns sounded like back in the day.

Long story short, this song is awesome even without Tracii Guns, that`s a testament to all the musicians`s involved in the making of this album.

I agree with you for the most part Jair. I'm a guitarist myself, and I believe when it comes to a band retaining their trademark stamp / branding if you like, the vocalist is definitely the most important element in that sense.

Speaking in terms of the band as a whole, I believe that the other musicians, and very often the lead guitarist in particular, are just as essential in a different way. David Lee Roth was an outstanding frontman / distinct singer, but it was Van Halen's riffs and solos that kept me interested in the band's material post-Roth. Axl Rose might have been the voice of GN'R, but many of us would probably never have heard of him, if not for Slash's infamous intro riff to "Sweet Child O' Mine" amongst others. Just to rhyme off a few examples.

Singers are undoubtedly the most distinctive piece of the puzzle, but the majority of those singers would never have had that platform in the first place without quality musicians / composers behind them. There are plenty of bands with original singers / new line-ups I've lost interest in, and plenty of bands I continue to listen to despite replacing their lead singers.

We can both agree though that this is a good song, and definitely ticks the right boxes in terms of the L.A. Guns sound.

David Marshall...this is bassist Acey Slade,Not original bassist Kelly Nickles. Acey (Emil John Schmidt IV)is pretty much a hired gun for many bands as he's never really stayed in anyone band. He's been in Murderdolls,Dope,LA Guns & Trashligh Vision. Currently he's been with Joan Jett. He actually has his own band Acey Slade & the Dark Party. He used to live somewhat close to me here in Pennsylvania and him n I always had kind of a secret rivalry as we both are bassist and always ended up in the same mid atlantic region bands at some point and even "dated" (eh-hem) the same girls here n there. Pretty cool dude. Did real god for Phil lewis' version of LA Guns.

Anthony Malone...Tracii only true Gun? Steve Riley is the original drummer for LA Guns. True Phil Lewis is not original singer (Paul Black was),but lets face it. Phil Lewis and Steve Riley are keeping the bands style of music still going,recording and touring. Tracii has rather finally let it go as he don't record "new" LA Guns music. He somewhat tours and had to get a female singer (Delilah),just to reach Phil's vocal range. Tracii even said himself in many interviews that he has no ill feelings of any of it and Phil and Tracii even had an impromptu reunion on the stage at The Whiskey where Tracii showed up in full beard and Phil Tracii ripped up the stage to an all old school set list. Its on Youtube,look it up.

The bassist is Scott Griffin. The guitarist is Stacey Blades. Also, Steve joined the band in 87-88, he didn't even play on the first album. I think Nickey Alexander is the original drummer.

OK, so I just heard this, and I am very happily surprised. The band sounds good. There is hope yet for the world. L.A. Guns has been one of my favorites, and now I can explore the newer stuff, it doesn't sound too much like they are trying.

So by 1:02 I am like "is this not THE best Guns song in the whole catalog?" And by the end of the song the thing is a no brainer. Yeah, and I go way back to '81 with the Kings of Sleaze. This song *just is* the essence of an LA Guns song. Sort of like "Back in The Saddle" or "Toys in the Attic" is the essence of an Aerosmith song. LA Guns rule folks.

@katkal3 Tracii Guns has his own version of LA Guns. It was a mutual and separation for them all. Tracii's version of the band is now fronted by a really really good female lead vocalist. This (Phil Lewis') version of LA Guns is the only band of the two that has another original line up member,drummer Steve Riley. With Phil's voice and Steve's drumming style,my opinion is this is the better of the two bands and Phil's LA Guns is the only one of the two that still records and tours. Tracii's band does not record anything new and kind of tours.
Original rhythm guitarist Mick Cripps is behind the music production of various bands nowadays and original bassist Kelly Nickles is completely MIA in the world of music (which sucks cause he was a great song writer,look up on Youtube "Kelly Nickles - Nothin' Better To Do".

I like the old Tracii, but to be fair Phil Lewis is 90% of that band. The voice and the lyrics and the songs that he wrote are the essence of L.A.Guns, and though Tracci is a good guitar player, he's not as good as he use to be. Once he was inventive and fresh, now his style is stalled and backwards, and there are many out there who can play his role in the band. Oh, and I agree that "Tales From The Strip" is one of their best, but "Hollywood Vampires" is underestimated as hell.

Phil's band sounds great ! Tracii is a douchebag. I say that from personal experience. He ripped off a photographer's blog on MySpace years ago and re wrote it to make himself sound wonderful. She was a photographer for All Access magazine and was covering CrueFest. She was also a good friend of mine and I proof read the blog before she posted it. What Tracii wrote was hilarious. The act of a desperate man.

He didn't steal the rights to the name. he and Tracii co-owned the rights right from the beginning....Tracii has burned so many bridges in music, nobody of any substance wants to work with him any more.

Tracii has always been about Tracii - even when Riley wasn't in the band. You can't blame the horrible albums he did on Riley even after Phil Lewis left. Tracii is a great guitarist, hands down, no doubt. But this was all about HIM, not Riley.

Of course Tracii would say that, he has made a career of pissing people off and acting like a tool. The guy is an amazing guitarist, but you only have to talk to various people in the from other rock bands who have worked with him to find out what a twat he is.
And anyway, say what you want about Riley, just listen to some of the shit Tracii has churned out over the years and tell me he gives a shit about the original LA Guns sound. The god awful American hardcore album and his shitty solo album
