Kip Moore - Blonde Lyrics

I saw you in a magazine just the other day
When they asked you where you came from, funny you forgot this place
I guess you caught amnesia, we've been knowing you before Pre-K
Can't hide the real you behind that new fake name

You can chase the lights
You can chase the fame
Used to be the captain of the cheer team
Now you're just a never coming homecoming queen
Don't sell yourself long girl
You must be confused
You ain't even Blonde girl
Or even true to your roots, yeah
Wooooo
Wooooo

I saw your Mama and your sister on Sunday
Your little brother starts school on Monday
Your granddaddy'd roll over in his grave
If he saw the way you changed

You can chase the lights
You can chase the fame
Used to be the captain of the cheer team
Now you're just a never coming homecoming queen
Don't sell yourself long girl
You must be confused
You ain't even Blonde girl
Or even true to your roots
Yeah, ah, ah
Yeah, ah, ah
Yeah, ah, ah, ah
Yeah, ah, ah
Yeah, ah, ah
Yeah, ah, ah, ah

I used to love your lips girl
They had a down home taste
So why'd you go and fill 'em girl
Mess up the ones that God gave

You can chase the lights
You can chase the fame
Used to be the captain of the cheer team
Now you're just a never coming homecoming queen
Don't sell yourself long girl
You must be confused
You ain't even Blonde girl
Or even true to your roots

(Yeah, ah, ah)
We were right there when your Daddy wasn't
(Yeah, ah, ah)
We were there the first time you got drunk
(Yeah, ah, ah, ah)
Couldn't even hold up your head
So I picked you up and put you in bed
(Yeah, ah, ah)
My shirt dried your tears when Brett broke your heart
(Yeah, ah, ah)
I took the blame in that old cop car
(Yeah, ah, ah, ah)
Laughed when you choked on your first smoke
Watching you now is a damn joke, yeah
Yeah, ah, ah
Yeah, ah, ah
Yeah

This song is a mix between Weezer-Say it aint so and John Mayer-Slow dancing in a burning room. Eerily similar to both.

  18. T.... P....

I hate when girls dye their hair blonde. Where are the natural girls at?

  19. K.... T....

Well, maybe that blonde next door with an angel face wasn’t the marrying kind after all... #Connections

  20. K.... T....

This is country music’s answer to ‘Scars To Your Beautiful’.

  21. M.... A....

I just died my hair blonde. This kind of broke my heart.

    HIS VOICE!!!

  33. T.... ....

Very country lol. Love it though

  34. M.... ....

I love Kip Moore, he was the one that first got me into country music. I get where he’s coming from with this song, nobody likes feeling forgotten about, but I can’t help but think “why you gotta be so judgy? Maybe she likes being blonde! It’s her lips not yours why do you care?”

  35. A.... S....

HA! I LOVE that Kip wrote this song because he was fed up with people posting too many selfies and spending too much time on social media. "Insta Famous"

  36. K.... B....

This whole album is amazing!!! I have had it on repeat for weeks!

  37. A.... V....

That has to be the worst horse hair blonde wig she is wearing!

    A.... V....

Jesse Latola, ever heard of free speech, the right to differ, democracy etc etc. well that's what I'm using. If I don't like something when I'm voting, I vote for someone else. If I'm pro choice for abortion, or pro gay rights for marriage I say so. I don't hide in a corner too afraid to say anything because Jesse Latola might pick on me for my different views. Get used to views that aren't YOURS. YOU don't make a nation, millions with diffferent views DO MAKE A NATION. And it's fine that a million people DONT AGREE WITH ME. But that's their problem, and yours and I really don't care.

  46. m.... ....

KIP MOORE u are god himself 👌👌👌👌

  47. W.... L....

    I love this song

  48. x.... 2....

This should have way more likes and views

  49. C.... H....

Sorry, Kip has great talent, but this song sux, even coming from who I consider the best singer in the world. It's not country, I don't actually know what it is..........

    C.... H....

This song does not suck at all. It's a different version of Kip and it still sounds great. I don't get why people need to put a sucks comment if you don't like it why comment.

    C.... H....

    Cindy Hodgkiss I'd say it's contemporary country-rock.

  50. S.... ....

All the feminists out there will say let her do what she wants, if she wants to change...let her be blonde. #wherethehellisamericaheaded

  51. S.... H....

Just came to vote this shit down for ad spamming YouTube videos

  52. A.... D....

    I love this song

  53. F.... F....

I like Kip Moore, and he has a nice voice, I'm just not sure why everyone thinks it's such a horrible thing for people to change. The old saying, "The more people change, the more they stay the same.", comes to mind. People "change" when they have the opportunity to do so. For example: the girl in the video. She changed when she left the little town she was raised in. People can't choose where they're born, but they can choose where they will live when they're older. People, and it seems especially girls, want to leave little towns for big cities. That isn't a bad thing, that simply means they find their happiness in the hustle and bustle, rather than in the sleepy and mundane. The old adage comes to mind because it's extremely rare for someone to change overnight. Chances are, they've always been the way they turned out. Life definitely has a way of changing people and their plans, but for the most part, people don't stray far from their true selves. Change is a good thing, and it's necessary for existence.

  54. T.... ....

What's with the new thing of random country songs sounding like Weezer Say It Ain't So? I'm confused. This is like the 4th country song I've heard in the past like 6 months with the same tabs and chord progression.

  55. B.... R....

I thought she did running for you as well

    B.... R....

Bethany Rich. No, this is her first with Kip. She did do She Cranks My Tractor (Dustin Lynch) and Tell Me (Jake Owen).

    B.... R....

Ah, Tell me, that's where I've seen her before then

  56. D.... J....

Love kip! haters gunna hate....I respect this song

  59. A.... ....

Idon't get it what made her so sad....loneliness..? like the lyrics they r so true of must young girls 2day....they don't like themselves always looking to change themselves.....

  62. E.... N....

    Lmao @ Taylor swift

(👒🎻Desde Houston, Texas. Joel Timothy Houston & Maria Veronica Sandoval Rodriguez🎸🎩)

  65. K.... G....

Does anyone know who he's singing about?

  66. J.... W....

    Can't wait for the album!

  67. B.... C....

This beat sounds just like "that was us"!!! 😍

  68. M.... T....

So some people think it's different, no matter what Kip really won't give AF what random people think. His songs grow on me more and more every time I listen. His underground songs that he only plays at concerts are absolutely amazing and he judges himself off of how his concerts do, which are always packed. Love it Kip, keep it up!!

  69. L.... G....

listening closely to the words the song is amazing , so many people in the world today try to be someone they're not. Good luck and I hope to hear it on the radio soon

  70. A.... B....

Asides from Body like a Back Road. This is the 2nd Country song in my library. I'm converted

  71. K.... A....

The intro is a rip off from Weezer - Say It Aint So!!!!

  72. F.... ....

Love all of his songs...hes my favorite by far☆

  79. S.... ....

This almost makes me cry. So many women and girls don't know their true self worth. I know the pain of it. I think social media and pop culture just exposed something that's been there for ages. We need to learn our way out of it & when something's exposed you can more easily address it. I kind of feel like it's my mission in life to learn my way out of this mess that women are in & share it. It's been a struggle, but I guess that's what I signed up for.🙂
    Thank you Kip & PJ.

  80. j.... ....

Loved Cassi Colvin as the Blonde!!

  81. K.... G....

    I love this 💞

  82. S.... H....

OMG I love this song... <3 well done kip another good song

  83. T.... J....

    That a boy Kip Moore.

  84. m.... s....

    good video

  85. m.... ....

Yeah it's a new sound in terms of music. But regardless of what music is in the background it's all in his voice. Still the growl, still the accent that made him the awesome Kip he was in the first place. I look forward to where he goes from here

    m.... ....

marine121996 yeah when I first heard it I was a little like hmm this is different kip. But the more I listen and listen to the words the more I think nah this is 100% kip

  86. H.... ....

Parts of this song has a Yelawolf "American You" groove

    H.... ....

Brittany B Yelawolf is a rapper from the South. Just listen to the beginning of both songs & tell me they don't sound similiar.

  87. s.... ....

    Brilliant music video

  88. m.... ....

    Hell of an underrated artist.

  89. r.... ....

I love that Kip is starting to write songs with greater substance. This is great. It would have been better with pedal steel guitar (or dobro or fiddle, etc.) to give it a more country sound.

    r.... ....

I personally think a fretless bass would do it better than a dobro. Just play the octaves and slide down to the key notes. Let it drone out and create that almost wail.

    r.... ....

I disagree. It's a song about selling out, so I think the more pop sound the better, to give it that irony.(considering country musics current issue of selling out I mean)

  90. J.... S....

I love this song and especially the message it sends. Don't try to be something you're not.

  91. M.... ....

    Kip Moore is great!

  92. C.... B....

well i have to say this is way better the The Bull but its painfully slow and boring. have no clue what this song is about and the meaning of it. still has a pop feel to it(i think its the video that gives it that vibe).

    C.... B....

basically. its saying stay true to yourself, don't become something your not to impress others and don't forget your roots, family and true friends.

  93. E.... C....

Girls stay true to your roots.

  94. K.... P....

Awesome. Cannot wait to see him at u of I.

  95. Z.... F....

Its been 11 hours and only 6.5k likes? How?!

  96. D.... G....

New take on it... Not my type of song but it's good

  97. A.... B....

Terrible! What had happened to KM?
