This music was so exotic to me as a kid from the suburbs of Australia, very camp and fey, totally at odds with the whole macho down to earthness that was inflicted on me with pub rock and hard rock culture, that's why I loved The Kinks so much, I could drift away with their beautiful and often funny songs.
