Kimbra - Madhouse Lyrics

Devils don't lie
They just fuel the heart’s fire for more, more

Devils don't pry
They just wait until you want a bit more, more

I don't want lies
I want open skies
I want doors, doors

But the pressure keeps prying
There's an open fire at the core, core

Oh hear the sound of the madhouse that you’re making
Oh hear the sound of the madhouse that you’re making

Chaos and disorder!
I’m a mess then I’m a messiah
(Don’t you leave me alone)
In the chaos and disorder!
I’m a mess then I’m a messiah
(I’m terrorizing everything)

The way we get by
Is to lie, lie, lie
A bit more, more

Way we get high
Is get high on pride
A bit more, more

You go deep inside
No room for the light
In these four walls

Hunting for your dream
Down the cocaine streets
Give me more, more

Oh hear the sound of the madhouse that you’re making
Oh hear the sound of the madhouse that you’re making

Chaos and disorder!
I’m a mess then I’m a messiah
(Don’t you leave me alone)
In the chaos and disorder!
I’m a mess then I’m a messiah
(I’m terrorizing everything)

Inside of my head
It’s a madhouse that you’re making
Oh hear the sound of the madhouse that you’re making
Breaking inside of me

We gotta find that light shining in the hard times
Gotta find that light shining in the dark times
Gotta find that light shining in the hard times
Gotta find that light shining in the dark times

Oh hear the sound of the madhouse
Oh hear the sound of the madhouse
Breaking inside of me

Whats that clack clack? Gotta get outta here
Rather be caught dead than die in here!

THIS ALBUM IS SO FUCKIN SLEPT ON

  3. Ben Vincent

    suckk it

  4. Sucy Q

I get a serious Earthbound vibe from this song

  5. MOONBEAR STARTIGER!

Everyone's saying Michael and I agree...but also Janet Jackson with "Nasty" - similar rhythm. Either way won me over as a fan of late-80's production.

  6. Aleyah Malone

MJ vibes ten seconds in. And appropriate title to fit MJ vibes too. And the way she's singing is some sort of 90s taste to it. I can't put a specific name to who. Kimbra, sis what you been doing? 😊

  7. Thomas Hinds

Dude I forgot about this track! So killer!

  8. Jazznflowers

Thanks Stephen and Ron Bruner <3

  9. joe a

did someone say eternal bop? I always come back to this song and As You Are, like at least monthly since this album came out. and that acoustic performance of Wandering Limbs from Vows??? I've listened to/watched that at least 400 times
just goes to show that everything this woman puts out is pure fire. Everybody Knows is a fucking jam and I'm beyond excited for Primal Heart

  10. Lilith Sahl

THAT FUNKY ASS FUCKIN BASSLINE OMFG IM LIVINGGG

  11. Unsung

You've got to love what Kimbra has done the as of recent; she's strung together a solid body of work after sticking her foot in the door with being feature with Goyte on "Somebody That I Used to Know" (2011). Since then she's really been on it, and great songs like these that show us how truly talented Kimbra is, and how much more exposure she deserves.

    Erin Jackson

This album is solid. If this was all I knew of her, I'd still be in love. Her soundscapes scratch an itch I didn't know was there. Agreed, she deserves more exposure.

    Thomas Hinds

...and then Primal heart came out :/

  12. Werdiv Metal Videos

    Sorgenschall brought me here :-)

    JoPlexiuss1to1go

@Aviencloud Man lernt nie aus ;)

    Aviencloud

    Aviencloud

@JoPlexiuss1to1go ok ich werds einfach mal probieren ;)

    JoPlexiuss1to1go

    @Aviencloud Jo mach das :)

  13. Obhadyah Stafford

actually it's more reminiscent of prince, this unique drumming style wouldn't be utilized until MJ's bad and dangerous albums

    Bass Lightyeah

    Yes, its more Prince!

    Obhadyah Stafford

I'm glad u agree it's more Prince, everyone else seems 2 think it's more MJ influenced, even tho they're cut from the same cloth and come from the same roots

    Bass Lightyeah

@Obhadyah Stafford Well, I think "Uptown Funk" was more similar too Michael Jackson or Chick, while this is clearly Prince-influenced, in my opinion.

    Marce Das

+Obhadyah Stafford definitely Prince , she actually recognizes to be influenced by Prince in an interview

  14. BlindRebellion1

Those who are Saying it is reminiscent of Michael is because she used the same drummer from MJ

  15. NewViceCity

  17. Nonella

It sounds a bit like Michael Jackson's song, but that's a compliment !

    Jakary Antonio Francis

@***** it fuckin sounds like Michael Jackson get over it bitch.

    Nonella

@*****  I didn't say that you shouldn't comment, I just said "It's my point of view, if you disagree, you can say it but in other words.". Of course I understand the system of comment, so ... Plus, listenning and buying music doesn't make you a genius of music or something like that ! However I'm not here for fighting so, you don't agree with  it's ok , we all have different opinion! But you can't not judge my ear test, you don't know me !!

    MegaMacTV

Shades of Paula Abdul as well.

    Cristian GP

Sure thing! Just watch her latest video 'Madhouse (track by track)' :) you will have your answer there!
