This channel has been around since 2007. I wouldn't be here if RoomieOfficial another youtuber didn't promote her. I see a lot of comments of her being transgender and that some can't support her if she has a pp. Her genitalia shouldn't decide whether or not you like her music. Hey so I'm asking this question not out of malice but genuine interest; I've heard that Kim Petras is transgender. What does this mean exactly? Was she a male that transitioned to female, or does she identify as a different gender? I'm a bit ignorant on the matter. Either way she is gorgeous and has a wonderful voice.

She was born with male parts but with female gender identity. Due to gender dysphoria she took hormone blockers when she was 11 to prevent male puberty and had gender reassignment surgery with 16 to change the male parts into a neovagina. She also changed her legal documents, so her birth certificate states female. She is now legally a woman without womb and ovaries who has to take female hormones because she can't naturally produce them. If you would see her naked on the beach you see her having a female body like other girls.

@Cat lady Hey thanks for the info. I wish I could have taken hormone blockers before I reached puberty like she did, but that would have been social suicide at the time and I wasn't ever that brave, nor would I have had any support. If I did it now I know I wouldn't be happy with how I'd look either. But that's neither here nor there. What I am happy for is that we're starting to live in a world where it's okay to undergo hormone therapy. I hope that my kids won't have to ever be uncomfortable with their gender.

@Alex C Unfortunately I started hormone therapy with 18 and had surgery with 20. I couldn't prevent male puberty. My parents didn't want me to transition so I had to wait. Male puberty was hell. Nevertheless I couldn't live my life as a man. If I didn't transition I would be dead now because my dysphoria was severe. I wished I had her parents. I'm still struggling with the outcome results. I wouldn't say that I'm ugly but I kind of look androgynous and that pretty much sucks after 14 years of hormone therapy and surgeries. I'm not happy with the results but I'm still alive and trying to cope with it.

im forced to listen to pop music at work all day, and i hate most pop music. I discovered Kim Petras from hearing Heart To Break at work, and it really solidifies my opinion that all pop music is so far from equal..... certain pop music is just so many levels above the rest of pop music, as is made evident here. maybe it's because i have struggled with gender identity and I felt myself gravitate towards the music because of who she is as a person, or it's just the overall delivery. All i know is it feels very satisfying to enjoy pop music for once.
