Kentucky Headhunters, The - Last Night I Met Carl Perkins Lyrics

Last night I met Carl Perkins
And we talked about guitars
Last night I met Carl Perkins
And she can't take that from me

With a wicked heart and a love so bad
She could steal my heart with a knife in my back

Last night I met Carl Perkins
And she can't take that from me

I pay the rent and in all her wakin' hours she wants this, she wants that
What happened to his, hers and ours?

Losing doesn't take a stool anymore
It will all be taxed and taken away for sure

Last night I met Carl Perkins
And she can't take that from me

With a wicked heart and a love so bad
She could steal my heart with a knife in my back

Last night I met Carl Perkins
And she can't take that from me

She got the house and my new cadillac
I got bills, sleepless nights, the bank is on my back

She took everything I had and more
But she can't throw my memories out the door

Last night I met Carl Perkins
And we talked about guitars
Last night I met Carl Perkins
And she can't take that from me

Sorry gtme36 but Carl was not on this track or session. He had passed before the song was cut. We credited him as bandleader simply for his inspiration. We did sample him yelling "Go Cat" during the bass walkup during the lead at the end. You can barely hear him. Greg Martin played all leads on this tune.

Some awesome history here: KHH Tribute to Carl Perkins
This song was done at a much earlier date than the rest of the CD.  The credits show that late great Mr.Carl Perkins was  a honored guest player at the recording session. They list him as the "band leader"  and it is actually Carl playing all
the lead guitar on this song. It's really fantastic playing too. You can hear him laugh and yell go cat go at the end. They were real big fans of Carl, and they wrote this song (but didn't record it) after meeting him some years before. They wanted to record it with him playing on it  and eventually talked him in to playing on it.
Soon after the recording Carl passed away, and they had the respect to not release it right away,so after years passed, it was included into this CD.
