Kenny Rogers - A Soldier's King Lyrics
None seemed to notice the man beside the road
He was just a raged soldier out there in the cold
But he seemed to have a purpose only known to him
As he walked along the streets that night through the town of Bethlahem.
In his hand he clutched a medal for the bravery he'd shown
And the weight of every battle he caried in his heart
But his eyes were clear and searching for a manger in the dark.
Some are born to greatness, some are born to fall
Some are bound to be forgotten like they never lived at all
But we're all born to know Him and stand befor His light
Like the soldier who found his king tonight.
He had marched for politicians, served under their command
But it was something deep inside him now that led him on his way
With a single star to guide him to were the baby lay.
Some are born to greatness, some are born to fall
Some are bound to be forgotten like they never lived at all
But we're all born to know Him and stand befor His light
Like the soldier who found his king tonight.
He stood before the Son of God, come to pay our debt
He smiled up at the soldier that the world would soon forget
So he held out his medal and said this for you I bring
There he swore aligiance to the newborn baby King.
Some are born to greatness, some are born to fall
Some are bound to be forgotten like they never lived at all
But we're all born to know Him and stand befor His light
Like the soldier who found his king tonight...

I weep each time I hear this. Such a powerful message.
Every knee shall bow. We do so willingly.
such a beautiful song. tears me up everytime I listen to it.
Great song cry every time I hear it. because it is for all the soldiers who died fighting for our freedom.
the final verse almost always brings me to tears, but this song will always be one of my favourites.
One of the greatest songs giving tribute to those who have served in the armed forces.
+Jerry Mann I love it. It really spoke to me because even the strongest, bravest men are called to drop everything and follow Christ. And that gives me, far from a strong brave man, courage to surrender all to Him.
song was played at my granddaddy's funeral he died 11/12/15 R.I.P granddaddy Pete:'(
Gosh this takes me back. My brothers and I lived with my grandparents when we were younger and she had this album on cassette tape and would always bust it out around December and she would play it wherever we went in the car. To the store. On the long drives to and from church (those were the best because we got to hear more of the music). No matter where we went, if we were in the car, the first thing we would ask for was Kenny Rogers! I think she may have lost that tape after a fire incident we had back in 2012. I think I will get it for her for Christmas. Finding this song has made me so happy but a bit sad because I miss the time we spent together, but it is still great to think back on fond memories. Thank you so much for posting this.
So nice song!!
