Kelly, Ruston - Dying Star Lyrics

What you want ain't always what you get
What you hope for ain't always what it is
When you stand in the kitchen at 3 AM
'Cause you can't find your keys and you ain't got no cigarettes

I'm a dying star, front seat of your car
Where you brave the cold and come find me falling apart
Brought me out of the dark
I went way too far this time

Where I've been, got caught up in the night
Oh, I wish I was would never turn and hide from the light
I'm staring in the mirror and giving it one last fight
If I'm going down, at least I pray I'll burn out bright

I'm a dying star, front seat of your car
Where you brave the cold and come find me falling apart
Brought me out of the dark
I went way too far this time
I went way too far this time

And I'm a dying star, front seat of your car
Where you brave the cold and come find me falling apart
I've just been lost in the dark
I went way too far this time
I went way too far this time

    I hope so

Yeah but we need people to write these tunes for us to listen to and reflect. Not always can some people easily express their sadder darker side. I don't always listen to these tunes when I'm down either. Sometimes I just want to balance out my moods and feel a little something bluer.

    yeah man

Wonderful sound, definitely catches the sadness and depression, (suicide attempt reference?), very sad. Music reminds me of old Jackson Browne, when David Lindley was with him. Lyrics are not so nuanced, but they help to catch a mood. Sad.

I'm close friends with Jackson and have always thought Ruston has a similar sound to his. I wish this kind of music, just good ol good tunes like these, were played more on the radio. I have an arsonal of songs I wrote years ago that would fall into this genre. Hope this cat keeps getting the attention he deserves.

In the background you can mostly hear like it's Kacey musgraves
