Kanye West - Everything I Am Lyrics

Oh oh oho.
damn, here we go again.
Oh oh oho.
Common passed on this beat, I made it to a jam,

now everything I'm not, made me everything I am.
damn, here we go again.
people talking shit, but when the shit hit the fan
everything I'm not, made me everything I am.

I never be picture-perfect-Beyonce
Be light as Al B or black as Chauncey
Remember him from Blackstreet
He was as black as the street was
I'll never be laid back as his beat was
I never could see why people'll reach a
Fake-ass facade they couldn't keep up
You see how I creeped up?
You see how I played a big role in Chicago like Queen Latifah?
I never rock a mink coat in the winter time like Killa Cam
Or rock some mink boots in the summertime like Will.I.am
Let me know if you feel it man
'cause everything I'm not, made me everything I am

Damn, here we go again.
everybody sayin' what's not for him
everything I'm not, made me everything I am
damn, here we go again.
people talk shit, but when shit hits the fan
everything I'm not, made me everything I am

and I'm back to tear it up
haters, start your engines
I hear 'em gearin' up
people talk so much shit about me at barbershops
they forget to get their haircut
OK fair enough, the streets is flarin' up
'cause they want gun-talk, or I don't wear enough
baggy clothes, Reebok's, or Adidas
can I add that he do spaz out at his shows
so say goodbye to the NAACP award
goodbye to the India.Arie award
they'd rather give me the nigga-please award
but I'll just take the I-got-a-lot-of-cheese award

damn, here we go again.
everything I'm not, made me everything I am
damn, here we go again.
people talk shit, but when shit hits the fan
everything I'm not, made me everything I am

I know that people wouldn't usually rap this
but I got the facts to back this
just last year, Chicago had over 600 caskets
man, killing's some wack shit
oh, I forgot, 'cept for when niggas is rappin'
do you know what it feel like when people is passin'?
he got changed over his chains, a block off Ashland
I need to talk to somebody, pastor
the church want tithe, so I can't afford to pay
the slip on the door, cause I can't afford to stay
my 15 seconds up, but I got more to say
That's enough Mr. West, please no more today

damn, here we go again.
everybody sayin' what's not for him
everything I'm not, made me everything I am
damn, here we go again.
people talk shit, but when shit hits the fan
everything I'm not, made me everything I am

  7. C.... S....

This tune hits me so hard in the feels. 2019 this track couldnt be more relevant to what Kanye is now and what Kanye was

  8. d.... ....

Least fav track on the album. But the beat is hella nice.

  9. L.... S....

Imagine if Common didn't pass on the beat?

  10. L.... S....

The chorus along with the beat always made me tear up or cry..

  11. B.... C....

Makes me wanna learn the keys

  12. S.... B....

    We need 'this' Kanye back...

  13. K.... B....

Damn. I really wish the world didn't turn this man to a maniac. He got everything people want in their "dark twisted fantasies" and is still miserable. Unfortunately, Kanye is almost a perfect allegory to the America Dream - sold a lie, stuck on the rich side of the fence wishing he could go back. You can be paid or have soul, but you can't do both in this world.

    K.... B....

@CLASSIFIEDGTA dissect his lyrics a bit more. He clearly believes in it, as do a lot of artists. No one knows for sure obviously, but I find it strange how so many people, particularly rappers, who live questionable lifestyles with seemingly no morality always come back to God as a topic - and question their own paths on a very consistent and serious basis.

    K.... B....

@Kyle Broussard he just believes in God, most people do anyway. I don't believe in God, and this whole Jesus walks thing is another way of getting publicity and attention for him.

    K.... B....

@CLASSIFIEDGTA yeah but I am under the impression from his early music and his upbringing that to him Jesus and God is real. His clothing line and a lot of his other album symbolism mocks God and Christ if you have read the Bible. I just find it interesting that the most successful rappers always mock God the most, while those who talk about God positively never get big until they start playing for the wrong team. I forget exactly what verse in the Bible it is, but basically Jesus is on top of Mt. Sinai and Satan comes to him and says "all that you see before me can be yours if you bow to me."

It's a metaphor much like most Biblical text. But to me it describes the state of hip hop and a lot of modern professions very accurately. The biggest dudes in hip hop? Almost always those promoting the dirtiest, fowlest things and pronoting Satanic symbolism in their art - Tekashi, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert (if you say his name fast it's literally Lucifer and he wears upside down cross earrings).

It's your choice to not believe and to think I'm crazy, or even downplay some of these facts. But, I will say this, it's awfully fascinating how to about 92% of Fortune 500 CEOs, governors, senators, actors, etc... are all Free Masons - a denomination of Luciferianism, that requires a blood sacrifice (Biblically forbidden) to join. Why do they believe in God if they are some of the most informed and lawless people on earth? And why would they choose to defy Him? Something to ponder.

Even if you don't believe in religion - I too am highly against it, there are a lot of lessons to be learned from all religious texts. They are vehicles for powerful lessins throughout history.

    K.... B....

@Kyle Broussard I'm not saying Kanye doesn't believe in God, he does, but he's also using religion to get positive publicity. Also the reason trashy hip hop is popular is because that's what niggas like to listen to, trash sadly. Also I'm pretty sure free masons are just a bunch of rich cunts and nothing more.

    K.... B....

@CLASSIFIEDGTA Nah bro, Free Masonry is a lot deeper than that. Look into it if you're curious. If not, whatever. He twists Gods word, and if he is a true believer, he knows that's one of the worst things you can do.

The reason it's what "niggas" want to listen to is because we are socially programmed from the day we are born, by the elite who control everything in the media from headlines, to radio waves, to what makes it onto TV. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. The CIA mastered mass psychology in the 1960s, and has since been using TV, radio, and now social media to control people's thoughts and conversations on a large scale. 90% of your thoughts aren't even your own.

  14. M.... S....

I'll never be as laid back as this beat is.

    M.... S....

    Same sadly.

  15. M.... M....

I miss old Kanye where's my friend gone?

  16. H.... ....

Never knew primo made this crazy beat

  17. C.... ....

    Such an underrated bop.

  18. A.... ....

Listening to this at the end of 2019... and it all makes sense 😔

  19. M.... C....

this is good and all but ummmmmm…. I forgot

  20. C.... 7....

This song always gave me College Dropout vibes

  21. B.... C....

This album will always be a hip hop classic! I used to bump this nearly everyday and still will in 2019! I wish Kanye would come back just one more time to make another classic album like he used to..would be so much 🔥🔥🔥!!!!

    B.... C....

I need another 808s or graduation in my life. I can't wait for enter galactic.

  31. E.... ....

I understand the meaning of the song now.

I just got in on a situation with my friends where someone started a dumb ass false rumor about me and it spread mistrust amongst my circle. I would constantly be brought up in conversations behind my back.

I guess everything i'm not made me everything i am.

    Middle school problems tf

    E.... ....

@Nava Ikr, I'm too old for this fucking shit, i had too dip out.

  71. t.... ....

Just because he made the Trump and MAGA mistakes this brother is still hella talented and I would never boycott one of our brothers because of a difference of opinion. He didn’t hurt people like R. Kelly he just embarrassed our people but moreover he embarrassed himself. He just needs help man and like mike Epps said: everybody need a little help, shit! Much love and you will come back around brother Kanye.
