Kansas - Nobody's Home Lyrics
It's empty now, no friendly face and nothing lives within
I look around and I find no trace to tell me what has been
So far I've come to find there's no one here, no life & fear
I came for nothing, they have gone
I came to learn perhaps to teach but I can tell somehow
The world that I was sent to reach has got no future now
Across the galaxy to spread the word and no one heard
I came for nothing I'm alone and Nobody's Home
A requiem was never sung
No elegy was read
No monument was carved in stone in memory of the dead
For those who made this place do not remain they feel no pain

MASTERPIECE. FOREVE
C'est juste M.A.G.N.I.F.I.Q.U.E. !
Nobody's home! I came to learn, perhaps to teach, but......
Amazing song but I have to say that when I don't have time to spin the album and I listen to it on youtube it lacks something. But it is still awesome.
Emotions in motion. Never gets old.
De la soul took this song as sample for their song Respect
I think the song is about people forgetting their own divinity.
lutherheggs welcomed in the innernet & are getting burned slowly roasting like a toad
saw kansas with styx back in 96 at hershey starlite pavilion and they really werne't that good, but hey every band has off nites
I love that even though Walsh could belt it out with the best of em hes incredibly restrained and the song is all the better for it. The lyrics and voice is that of an inquisitive nature, searching.
I got a great opportunity to run sound for them once. It was a rainy miserable day but I smiled the whole way through.
This song always makes me cry.
Rg4127 they sampled this from de la soul??? That's funny! Kansas put this out in 1977
So crazy how they sampled this song from de la souls song respect. Nice!!!!
This song came out in 1977, a long time before de la soul. They sampled this from Kansas
Kansas is the greatest band ever. But this is the only tune of theirs that makes me cry. A sadness about it I can't describe. The genius of Livgren music and Walsh vocals.
They are definitely one of the best. I'll agree with that.
CLICK HERE: embraceholycross.blogspot.com GOD BLESS KANSAS !!!
I experienced the band Kansas three times,Masque,Leftoverture and Monolith tours, and then again in 97 as they opened up for ELP....Was not the same without Kerry...A part or all of the wonder and magic which made Kansas what it was and had become, was gone!! Favorite band!!!
I was a kid when this came out and I still don’t understand what this song is about?
I think Seed's of Change by Kerry Livgren explains it all too!Lot's of lyrics and the meanings behind them there.Great book!!
There are 4 people who don't know what good music is.
I came for nothing... they have gone.
I know it's not the intended meaning of the song but to me it honestly kind of sounds like the remembrance of old YouTube. Specifically this part here.
A requiem was never sung, no elegy was read
No monument was carved in stone in memory of the dead
For those who made this place do not remain
They feel no pain
A stranger fate was never known
This site was created and made popular by regular people just having fun and expressing themselves through weird, funny, original videos. Now the site is ruled by shitty modern pop stars, talk show hosts, rich attractive teenagers, and vapid uninspired content engineered by corporate suits in a boardroom to suck as much watch time out of general audiences as possible. Meanwhile the people who made this site popular in its infancy have been squeezed out of the picture, and today they're nothing more than a distant memory for those who were around to experience the good ol' days.
What site?
I miss my ARP OMNI
any hidden meanings are idea on what this song is about
Read the book Seed's pf Change by Kerry Livgren as i believe it describes that song too..Has a lot of lyrics in it..Really explains a lot!
Marvelous!
Thumbs up if you're a millennial who likes/respects classic prog rock! I know I am. :)
when i was smaller this was the shit
this one is a forgotten gem
this is God's music
This is my soul.
...tak, i pusty dom, pełen muzyki to nie pusty...:-))
This was the music when we first started playing bass. If you could play this stuff you were a bad ass. So creative, I'm sure some of the Dream Theater stuff has similar chord dialogue using circle of fifths. You musicians know what I'm talking about.
+Michael Stoner dream theater learmed from knsas lol
the knocking at the end of the song....................He's still knocking
Do you know when I bought this album in ‘76, when I was 11 years old, the first few times I heard that knocking I thought it was my hamster knocking his wheel against the glass wall of his home and to this day (40 years later) I still think of my furry pet every time I hear it.. Strange but true.
SUPA DAVE X DILLA DAWG COLLABO
Dj cornBREEZE love your logo corn breeze

KANSAS IS TO ME AN EMOTION i CAN HEAR

Congrats to the meeting of them!!Would've loved to have picked on his brain (Kerry's) a little. This song is un noticed and overlooked!!What a gem !!
That is an intelligent debate, much moreso than mine. I realize that I was being flip, glib, and overly harsh, but I thought that's what you kids these days expected of the internets...?
Look, I don't like xistianity, I don't think it has any relevenace, the books are scholarly empty, being apocryphal, at best, BUT, I do NOT want to disabuse anyone's belief that makes them feel better about life. Just don't intrude on MY life with YOUR sh...stuff.... is my thing.
We are all gods. In our own ways
Shogun Films there is only one God
Amen to that!!Only one Way to get to HIM,and that is thru the Cross and the blood HE shed for us all!!
We just think we are and we become exactly that to ourselves...What we think is who we are, our true selves! It is in giving that we are blessed by submitting to each other in love, helping other's along the path.Romans chapter 8 explains it all.Just 10 minutes to read and a lifetime to understand...It will change you in ways you cannot fathom..God bless you!! "Seek and you will find..."
great album
The violin part in this song reminds me of 'Concerning Hobbits' from the Lord of the Rings movie.
thank you kansas..for the muzik..:)
The day another race comes to meet with ours may arrive too late, only to find the remains of our own self-destruction.
I believe God created this planet and only HE can or will destroy it not us....We do not have the right! Romans chapter 8 explains a lot!! Revelation chapters 10-13 explains more..Any 10 verses take a minute to read and knowledge wisdom and understanding follow...Try it!!
Yes. Yes. I will LOVE you better than jesus....
Paganguy1 you're an idiot
@Paganguy1 Okay.....
@jeffreygaudreault
Yes. Sodomize me with a tree, that will teach me about xistiantity!!!! Oh. Wait, I had that lesson already.Priest's penis's taste bad. My wife's womany parts taste really good!
Hmmmm.... It want's no straps...
Paganguy1
Paganguy1 you're a real ass whole
Ooh... does somebody need a hug?
@Paganguy1 I understand if you don't like christians but dude......that is SO disrespectful.
I first heard this at age 12. Now at age 50 I still think Kansas is a band brilliant and so ahead of their time. The have been my favorite for most of my life. This song is so Brilliant~ Thank you Kansas for your visions.
@hthorke1
Fuck Jesus Christ in his fat ass! I fuckin' hate that guy!
Paganguy1 your a f****** idiot
Paganguy1 I guess you're still morons in this world
Such hatred is of the darkness!! Love is of the Light....Why say such vile things? Shame on you! Do you know who you speak of?Or you worship satan or are just ignorant perhaps...ever read the Bible or just badmouth it? I dare you to read Romans chapter 8...then tell me i am wrong...God bless you on your journey....
Jesus wants you to fuck off. Pagans are wimpy pansies. Wimp loser.
A classic!
@gerryjalove What? So he didn't spend hours upon hours of hard work perfecting his art?
Love this song, its just beautiful, so deep in meaning.
A sweet, understated song that somhow does not sacrifice any majesty or power. It is another Kansas masterpiece.
best song of the album "point of know return
@gerryjalove
No, indeed. DIO is god, Steve Walsh is just a sexy man with a good voice.
I'm just sayin... I'm not gay or anything, (not that there is anything WRONG with that!!), but, still....
Not for nuthin-- but-- he was a very pretty man... Is all's I'm sayin'
mom played this albumn when she cleaned along with many other favories so i thank her
Emily Carlson my mother did the dishes to this album. She had it on 8 track. She was my first exposure to the Beatles and Kansas.
Cool mom! I also still play the eight track of this!
sounds like a pretty awesome mom! my mom loved kansas and boston growing up!
She sounds great!
THAt's very true bud!! Very true!!!
@gerryjalove
i so agree, the BEST band ever!!!
Robbie Steinhardt was a damn good violinst, u should hear Dust in the wind and i agree!
I thanked Panosc on another song for uploading this album and doing such a great job...And I do it again! Check out his homepage guys, maybe there is hope for the younger generation after all...:)
One of my favorite songs from "Point of Know Return". Don't know
why. Just is.
can someone bring dilla's version back to youtube ?
Does this song remind anyone else of certain songs traditional for Remembrance Day? (One Tin Soldier springs to mind)
Click your heels together 3 times and say "there's no place like home"
Sampled for De La Soul-Respect and J Dilla-No One Knows
he is great musician but i preffer Livgren's musics than Walsh's
i dunno.
Charlie Daniels is pretty good ;)
one of the best violin pieces ever recorded
Don't play the Violin, I respect all that do
Paid my Dues!
Yes Steve Walsh is amazing, but I respectfully disagree...he is not God, for only God could bless him with his gift and talent !
I will say Kansas is the BEST band ever !!
Just incredible.
Steve Walsh is GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
