Judd, Wynonna - Help Me Lyrics

Help me
I think I'm falling in love again
When I get that crazy feeling
I know I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble
'Cause you're a rambler
And a gambler
And a sweet-talking ladies' man
And you love your lovin'
But not like you love your freedom

Help me
I think I'm falling
In love too fast
It's got me hoping for the future
And worrying about the past
'Cause I've seen some
Hot, hot blazes
Come down to smoke and ashes
We love our lovin'
But not like we love our freedom

Oh, didn't it feel good
We were sitting there talking
Or lying there not talking
Didn't it feel good
You dance with the lady
With the hole in her stocking
Didn't it feel good
Didn't it feel good

Help me
I think I'm falling in love with you
Are you going to let me go there by myself
That's such a lonely thing to do
Both of us flirting around
Flirting and flirting
Hurting too
We love our lovin'
But not like we love our freedom

Judd, Wynonna Help Me Comments
  1. F.... E....

In 2002 I smoked a cigarette with Wynonna at Denver international airport during a February snowstorm, I happened to be outside in a designated smoking area when all of the sudden out walks this tall red head pretty lady in a long black leather coat! I happened to be wearing a Harley Davidson shirt, we had conversation about riding Harley Davidson motorcycles as she had just bought a new fat boy and the whole time I’m asking myself where have I seen her? then she told me who she was and I was so amazed how normal she was for being a global super star! She was waiting on her limo to take her to aspen, Colorado , as the limo came around the corner and stopped and her boyfriend or husband got out she looked at me and said my ride is her it was nice talking to you and I said likewise, as she was getting in the limo she stopped turned around and walked back to where I was standing, and she hugged me and said, thank you for being yourself! I will never forget her😍 I know Joni is proud of wynonna on the way she covered help me🥰

  7. D.... J....

    Absolutely Stunning rendition. 💗💗💗💗

  8. J.... W....

Wynonna Judd has been one of my favorite singers, ever since she first started singing with her mother, and then she went out on her own. She's extraordinarily talented, and this song really showcased her voice!😊💒

  9. L.... l....

    Wow....❤

  10. D.... ....

hands down the classiest and best cover of this awesome song. its how the lady with a hole in her stocking would have it done!

  11. D.... G....

    Beautiful!

  12. R.... ....

    Absolutely wonderful cover.

  13. C.... P....

Kept it close to the original, not bad.

  14. J.... B....

    WOW!!!!

  15. D.... E....

Second only to KD Lang's cover

  16. R.... H....

Wynonna is just spot on with this rendition.

  17. h.... ....

    Joni should be proud!!!

  18. L.... K....

    So, so good!

  19. R.... P....

Beautiful, such a pretty smooth voice, why wasn't this a top ten hit darn, what follks miss

  20. j.... n....

Fantastic cover. Her voice is smoother than Joni's voice, which was starting to sound rougher on Court And Spark. Pretty note-for-note cover, but it's a tricky song to pull off anyways. Good job.

(Edit: upon listening to this again, I notice a bit of a sexy, sensual groove. To a Joni Mitchell song? It would contradict the lyrics in moving to this. But...But...lol)

  21. j.... ....

I like this as much as the real version, girl got down!!!!

  22. t.... ....

wynonna does this song justice love her

  23. t.... ....

    awesome

  24. t.... ....

    great job love it

  25. t.... m....

the singers and songwriters of the 70s they sure new how do it right from Carole King Carly Simon to Joni Michell and Linda Ronstat the ladies of the 70s new how to get to the Heart of the song they were singing

  26. t.... ....

Joni's the best, but Wynonna killed it! Awesome remake. The guitarist is playing the original note for note.

  27. C.... ....

    Lovely version !!!!

  28. B.... o....

just as good as the Joan

  29. V.... P....

    Boooom Nailed it ~

  30. J.... a....

Wynonna has one of the most beautiful voices in music. She has an incredible vocal range and I am glad she expands her musical style to different genres of music to allow her voice to flourish. I have found that many female country singers have incredible voices. But Miss Wy is simply extraordinary. Her voice transcends, she knows how to bring each note alive. I just love her voice.

  31. c.... ....

Wow, this is actually well done. Not sure how I ended up on this, but yeah....

  32. D.... W....

    Excellent cover here!

  33. D.... E....

My fav cover of this song. It's a tough one to pull off, but she does an excellent job.

    D.... E....

Why is it tough to pull off? I like the song but really it's so much like Joni I might as well be Joni.

  34. D.... E....

Very well done. Joni Mitchell is an excellent songwriter with few equals.

  35. m.... ....

WOW.... She done Joni proud!!!! GREAT track.... so complimentary of Joni's original!

  36. c.... ....

Wow this must have been a number of years ago because she doesn't sound like this anymore

  37. M.... S....

how else could you do it? Joni's is the best. To put your own thing in it would be overkill.

  38. M.... ....

I love this soo much! Her voice is georgeous.

    M.... ....

Indeed, we need more Wynonna.....just listen to what these guys have to say

  39. C.... ....

Nice tone - light and a little breathy- throughout her range. Those high notes don't seem to scare her much. I heard a kind of "country" vocal effect at least once and maybe one flip to a light falsetto. Not criticisms about them. Just observations. But I've only given it one listen. Otherwise, I agree with others that it seems to be designed as a close copy of the original. And it sure is tough to improve on a great original.

I remember when this tune was on the radio and was even played in bars in Victoria, BC, Canada in 1974. Like "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" by Steely Dan, released about the same time, I remember thinking: What is this beautiful music? And: I can't find any simple, major or minor chords that work with this/these songs - so what could be going on?

I had to go to jazz school to finally answer these questions. What an eye opener! To actually have some inkling why certain scales (modes, really) work over certain chords at certain times to allow a performer to imagine and produce new melodies on the fly. Or at a later time, if you're a composer.

  40. M.... C....

Although this is an okay version, it sounds more like she was mimicking Joni rather than putting her own unique spin on it.  The only one I've ever really liked (besides Joni's) on You Tube is the one by Shaina Taub Trio!

    M.... C....

Completely agree, needs to be edited out!

    M.... C....

+Mare Cee O agree. Why go for an exact version including all the instrumental bits. I can understand journeyman performers doing it. But I expect more from the likes of Wynonna Judd. Her voice is fantastic though. I'd call this karaoke version.

    M.... C....

Mare Cee oh quit your catting and just listen you lot

  41. f.... ....

    Excellent!

  42. L.... M....

Omg...i heard this was the best cover and dang it, i heard right! 👍👍👍👍👍👍

  43. P.... ....

I heard this version before the original and that probably makes me a little biased but this version is excellent.  A little more mainstream.....you almost can't even tell this is Wynonna.  Doesn't sound like a country version at all. She is an excellent singer.

    P.... ....

you can almost tell it's Wynonna......because it is Wynonna

    P.... ....

    Godfrey Townsend band

  44. d.... ....

Joni's number one!! But this is nice.

  45. b.... ....

this is a nice cover. to say its better than joni's then your gay!!!! it's the truth!!!!

  46. b.... ....

    great cover

  47. t.... b....

Top Drawer.. I'm kinda partial to kd Langs version, it's a better, slightly different arrangement from Joni's. More of a tribute than a copy.. don't get me wrong I LOVE Wy. I just find this arrangement kinda flat.

  48. S.... L....

it's just the most amazing cocteau twins, saint etienne meets the sundays.........what a GORGEOUS COVER...it's country dream pop

  49. j.... ....

    Better than Joni Mitchell's original.

    j.... ....

Not really better but really good. 😆

  50. T.... *....

Wow! LOVED IT!  Wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. I thought only Joni could sing this song but evidently, so can Wynonna! :)

  51. N.... ....

She knocked this OUT of the park!! 😊♥️🙏

    N.... ....

It's a nice version but It's a studio recording with processing, overdubs, and retakes. Let's see her do it live.
