Gosh, I know everyone misses the Civil Wars, but I started listening to Joy Williams when I was in junior high (her early stuff) and this is so reminiscent of her early sound and I love it. It totally takes me back.

I was so distraught when Civil Wars broke up. The two of them were so good. So good together, so much chemistry. Now over :-( I have both John Paul White's subsequent cd (Beulah) and Venus. I like the songs of Venus better, as much as I worship White's guitar playing.

Wow!! Just Wow!! Joy WIlliams! I fell in love with your voice hearing it over the sparse accompaniment of a single acoustic guitar. I could only describe that sound as "haunting". The sound stayed with you for days. It was memorizing. But now on Venus, Joy opens up her pipes!!!!! With awesome arrangements behind her she seems to pull out this voice from somewhere down deep.
