Joy Formidable, The - I Don't Want To See You Like This Lyrics

A bridge splits November's sky
I'm in two halves inside
This is the past right here
I choose to leave it here

The cliffs loom to scrape you thin
The bowl churns to over spill
But I can see us here
Without this fear

I want to find those books
Search your face, torment us
You're just a shower to someone dry
A shower to the wilted and the dried

'Cause we all leave courage's side
But I'll always be courage's child
The past I'll clear
I choose to leave it here

You say have your time again
But you can't and the warning starts now
What's in the frame?
It makes you sad but you can't fill the gaps

We're four rings on a chain
So don't make them rust
I'll be your maps, I'll be your eyes
I'll give the ending a nudge

And I don't want to see you like this
I don't want to see you like this
And I don't want to see you like this
I don't want to see you like this

Alive now in the middle not looking from outside
Wishing that it was a screen fight
Settled with all of a hero's flair
Put aside, find a new character

I don't want to, don't want to
Don't want to see you like this
And I don't want to see you like this
I don't want to see you like this

A bridge splits November's sky
I'm in two halves inside
This is the past right here
I choose to leave it here

  11. j.... ....

gran banda me enamore dela cantante

  12. s.... ....

I hear a lot of Dave Grohl in their music, which is a good thing in my book.

    s.... ....

+spacedoginnebraska Yeah, you are right. Some Pixies and Sonic Youth as well.. All great influences for sure!!

  13. e.... s....

    cracking song

  14. s.... ....

by the way, my mom's maiden name is Owens, which is very, Celtic and Welsh, lol.

  15. s.... ....

dear Arthur Frentzel, PLEASE, don't insult us AMERICANS of WELSH and IRISH descent, because,  including SCOTLAND, that's where our music originally came from, especially, our Country & Western music that got it's start in Tennessee. besides, I have a cousin who resembles her, the female lead singer of this band, this band reminds me a lot of the style that the band,"sixpence none the richer"with female lead vocalist, Leigh Nash, plays.

  16. S.... A....

I think it would be polite of us Yanks to be more appreciative towards England for everything they've done for us.

    S.... A....

@Arthur Frentzel Why thank England for Joy Formidable? -you didn't
     know they're from Wales?

    S.... A....

    ok, thank the UK.

  17. a.... ....

Such a pussy throw at the start of the video....Other than that, very nice work.

  19. A.... ....

She does have that effect on people, doesn't she?

  20. O.... H....

she's only doing that stuff for money Lady Gaga was actually a student at Julliard before she was Lady Gaga, and I don't know where they are, but there are videos of her performing some amazing pieces before she was lady gaga

  21. O.... H....

lady gaga although her music is terrible is an extremely talented musician so don't hate

  22. R.... B....

    Love this band!!

  23. B.... R....

I don't agree with the "naturally pretty" thing that doesn't have anything to do with her music. but yes, she does try too hard in regards to fashion to cover up the fact that her music is nothing special.

  24. B.... R....

1:48 "they're eating her! and now they're gonna eat me! oh my gooooddd"

  25. g.... ....

  45. D.... ....

I love how it plays out with the drums....GREAT SONG

  46. d.... ....

I love it when a band makes tons of videos.

  47. t.... ....

Music videos are weird . . . lip synching to the camera and all. Kinda awkward if you're not in it. That was just a general comment. I appreciate this music.

  48. H.... ....

  49. k.... ....

so them live at glastonbruy festival they where amazing :)

  50. i.... a....

    FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!

  51. g.... ....

I got a copy of 'The Big Roar' as a gift from a couple of english friends (= I can't measure how grateful I am until now to them), that sound on an original CD is highly cathartic!! Along with Silversun Pickups, The Joy Formidable is carrying my best hopes in music nowadays. Cheers from Brazil!

  52. D.... ....

@odinswolf1969 haha yeah as long as youre not pretentious about it, but telling by your age you'll be mature about it.More adults should have interest in less widely availible (obscure) music like yourself. It would make radios play those kinds of songs more then...

  53. O.... x....

such original ideas. I love it!

  54. S.... ....

she looks oddly similar to a noel fielding sketch when she becomes a tree

  55. J.... S....

    Impressive powerful music!

  56. s.... ....

guitar part at 0:32 is FUCKING EARGASMIC

  57. J.... R....

  63. d.... ....

I wonder if they do any songs in Welsh. It's such a beautiful language.
Anyhow, I love this band to death after hearing this on one of those music channels that just plays music all day. They're amazing.

  64. D.... S....

Right, what's the story in the video?

  65. -.... ....

    @odinswolf1969 No!

Lol jk cheers for knowing good music!

  66. C.... ....

theyre just too underated , how come ? if there the best!

  67. p.... t....

let the drummer join the band please, i see that a lot lately Two Door Cinema club does the same thing a 3 peice band but they play with a drummer what gives ? love them anyway!!!!

  68. A.... ....

@Patricknows I have to say, this is probably my favorite band as of late. You're right about them just kind of hitting you in that special way. It's poppy, but rockin' in that very sensible way. It's like they just knew what they were doing when they were making these songs. I remember being so blown away when I heard "Whirring" for the first time, and their other stuff is just as awesome. They're supposed to be playing here in a few weeks, and I definitely want to go check them out.

  69. a.... ....

@Patricknows Awww Patricknows you are sooo right on.. it does hit some kinda nerve and a lot of this TJF stuff well listen to Ever changing Spectrum of a Lie and that always brings tears to my eyes... Take it easy and be careful hanging up there mwah

  70. B.... C....

    @odinswolf1969 agreed.

  71. o.... ....

@whitewarrior12 I'm not talking about 'modern' indie, I'm talking about proper indie from the late 80's early 90's. Have a look back at the likes of the darling buds, the sundays, heck even daisy chainsaw. Yes Joy formidable are new fresh and probably better described as something else but thats how I'd describe them

  72. B.... C....

    @odinswolf1969 this isn't indie music....

  73. A.... ....

The lead singer has a haunting beauty. The band has a great sound, as well.

  74. E.... ....

@SuperSmashBrosConnor Just came back from their free show here in Vegas, and trust me..that drummer is a total badass. He puts those double kick pedals to good use. He's really something watching him play on drums, in fact, the whole band is. They definitely have fun while playing on stage. :D

  75. M.... ....

Has anyone else noticed how intense the drumming is in these songs? They have metal band drums with double kick pedals and everything.

  76. T.... ....

I NEVER WATCH THE ACTUAL VIDEOS ANYMORE.
I AM TOO OBSESSED WITH THE COMMERCIALS!

  77. K.... B....

Saw them at Outside Lands, and they were fucking epic. Gonna see them again in Sacramento next month :D

  78. S.... ....

They will be know in USA when they release Twilight #15.
This is freaking awesome !!! Then I will stop listening to them like I did with Muse....

  79. N.... ....

    ...I am floored!!!

  80. m.... ....

I saw them two weeks ago in acoustic...they were good and funny XD

  81. k.... ....

Great stuff!!.. Sounds a bit like danish band INOUWEE

  82. f.... ....

I saw this band as one of Surport Band for the Foo Fighters when they come to Philly. What ever a surport is. Opening act? w/e They dont sound that bad. I kinda like this newer stuff.

  83. A.... ....

    @odinswolf1969 i'm 43, the answer's yes! :)

  84. o.... ....

hey I'm 41 am I still allowed to like indie music? tough :) I like this!

  85. e.... ....

@luvmyMCR4evaxx I saw Muse a long time ago when "Sunburn" was released and I think TJF are better live! Just my opinion. Fever Fever are also awesome. Check them out on the BBC Introducing website, they rocked Glasto!

  86. L.... ....

    THEY ARE FUCKING AWESOME!

  87. A.... S....

@eldaro6969 I've never seen them, better or worse than Muse would you say?

  88. M.... ....

    @sk8orhateit

Enter Shikari is awsome, and so is this

  89. s.... ....

Raw brilliance from one of the best bands around at this moment!!!

  90. S.... ....

@AbduCola uh... not cool so.... yeah...it depends the venue and the country...or the state if you're in the usa

  91. C.... W....

just discovered these, and i've gotta say i'm impressed! :)

  92. A.... ....

@BohemianConspiracy JUst depends on the venue. Most are all ages. The one he wants to get into must be part bar

  93. M.... ....

I want her style! So cute!

  94. j.... ....

hmm that tree woman is pretty hot. awesome band, i expect big things for them in the next 5 years :D

  95. L.... K....

The part were she is a tree reminds me of adele lorienne sessler's artwork.Just discovered TJF and it looks like I finally found something that I might get hooked on again after a very long time.

  96. S.... ....

@kriptonitekaya i just say that alcohol are for barbarians... and you're too young to join that club...
I know for the moment you hate it... but i was like you ...i had nearly never drink alcohol before i was 20...just very rarely... but people change...
I don't think that it''s important to drink or not drink ... the important is to no become alcoholic...
What! u need to be 21 years old to see them ! strange country...in most places is 18... and even less if you try a fake moustache...
