Josh Thompson - Beer On The Table Lyrics
Every morning I get up before that rooster crows
Headed straight to somewhere I don't even want to go
Eggs and bacon in my belly and a Folger's coffee buzz
Good ol' radar detector it protects me from the fuzz
Well I do what I gotta do to get through working that 9 to 5
It puts the gas in my truck, butter on my biscuits,
Couple bucks when I'm itchin', for a scratch-off ticket
That poker makes me broker every Saturday night
But I still got running water and they ain't cut off the lights
Come Friday night my friends and I start peeling off them labels
Working hard all week puts beer on the table
Eighteen bucks an hour and a million dollar tan
All them women whistle at me while I'm working for the man
Come Friday I'll have money but by Monday I'll have none
Once the bills are paid and that bass boat tank has gone from E to F
I fill that big ol' cooler up there ain't a whole lot left
But I got gas in my truck, butter on my biscuits,
Couple bucks when I'm itchin', for a scratch-off ticket
That poker makes me broker every Saturday night
But I still got running water and they ain't cut off the lights
Come Friday night my friends and I start peeling off them labels
Working hard all week puts the beer on the table
Ohhhh, wohhhh, I'm a simple man, yes I am
All I need is a few good friends and a good job,
And a good dog, maybe a woman that understands
An' a little gas in my truck, some butter on my biscuits,
Couple bucks when I'm itchin', for a scratch-off ticket
That poker makes me broker every Saturday night
But I still got running water and they ain't cut off the lights
Come Friday night my friends and I start peeling off them labels
Working hard all week yeah, puts the beer on the table, oh, ah
Puts the beer on the table
Why don't 'cha'll pass me a'nother one of 'dem cold cans?

I had to check out this song as it had beer in the title. Hey we love the country rockers! Hoping they rock out to our song and video called 2 Shots 2 Beers You're Good.
'amazing song'..you must be joking.....the only country connection here is a little banjo....'keep your hands to your self' is the source of this stupid song......hey! let's sing about beer...and....'working for the man' ..any more rubbish lines to use.....I'm out of this crap.
Good, glad you're out.
This is a great song...

is your name pronounced beer man?
Yes it is
Having butter on ur biscuits the most important thing.
lol that was a pretty amazing list
@David Young hell yeah
Ford Man lights are kinda higher up than beer imo
George Wagner nah, that's what bonfires are for. I never needed lights for my beer.
Ford sucks
Why the hell are people always so against "mainstream"? That's what happens when artists become successful...I've never agreed with the bullshit "its not cool if its mainstream" mentality. If you like the artist/music support it!!
Chad Soulli for me it's not about being "mainstream" it's about the ingredients it takes to get there and most of it consists of cheesy lyrics and a very general topic and in Nashville that's what they go for. I would like an artist to have real depth. Not change up the subject and still make it sound cheesy or disingenuous. look at the difference between Jason Isbell and Florida Georgia Line . One is able to explain a situation with depth and storytelling the other talks about tailgates , playing flip cup and "cruising" ! It's a slap in the face to artist who hone their craft not just write to get a record deal.
HELL YES
What Shane said, 100%. There's too many country artists that hit it big off of generic beer/hunting/party/truck lyrics and it all kind of meshes together and becomes a huge pile of...mediocrity. There's a few exceptions who can be considered mainstream but really do have amazing talent, Chris Stapleton being one of them. But hey, I can't really hate on them because I would do the same for the paychecks these guys are getting. However most mainstream really is trash.
Beer on the table sounds great right about now! :) @Ron Robey #beeronthetable #mrronrobey
There's an extremely similar song to this one I can't remember. The beat is nearly the same. Can anyone help me out?
I just off the top of my mind I like I love it I want some more of it or I love you period by Dan Baird but your right have heard this somewhere b4
Achy Breaky Heart :)
i tried playing guitar at work and my boss told me i suck and to get back to work
well then your boss needs to get a life
Cordell Hankins
Tell ur Boss to Fuck Off, & Flip him off, & keep playing. I play my Guitar in front of my own boss all the time. He's too scared to approach me anymore
😂 even if you could play ... he would probably say I dont paye you to play a gutair either way I'd of keept strumming!
Your BOSS sucks! Rock on!
Be a man be big be small but be one happy country boy till you die
song describes me to almost a tee
thumbs up if you have beer on the table! this song rules!
Don't like beer but love this song.
Joel, IF you come back, look into Muckalee Creek Water. It's a damn good song by Luke.
I like to think that's the real Luke Bryan
Luke's no good seriously he sucks
love this song
I like Josh Thompson, but this song kinda blows. Sounds way to mainstream.
I think he does a pretty good job keepin it right in the middle. I mean lets be real hes gonna have a couple hits here and there that are mainstream but least he gets paid lol
Huntin hard all week puts the deer on the table lol
Atts it!
Listen to the ones that aren't played on the radio. "Faded Away" and "Too Damn Young" are great songs. His pop is pretty awful. That's what I'm getting at!
I saw Josh Thompson in concert and he does not sound the same! He is so much better in person!
Times change, and the music stars unwilling to change with the times fade into oblivion.
When was the last time Willie Nelson beat Taylor swift on the billboard charts?
Who's got better music? Well that's a matter of opinion. Is 1 right or wrong? Probably not.
That was only an example but you could make it with any artist who hasn't kept up with the current music and one who has.
George strait has kept strong in the charts cause he's evolved with the music.
True older artist expirement with new stuff, but how much of that do you hear on the radio. Not much to more like none. And the bottom line is if your gonna stick to your guns and make true country music, you aint gonna make it on the radio. I don't necessarily disagree with people liking "new country", but don't call it country. Bragging about how country you are isn't was country music is, was or should be.
Hey, I'm a black dud who loves Old-School Rap/R&B, I heard this song in an advertisement. I luv this S#!+, learning the words now, "peeln off them labels, workn hard all week, putting beer on the table"
I can't think of a Luke Bryan song that I can honestly say I really like.
Its fine to advance from "Okie from Muskogee." I think Luke Bryan's "That's My Kid of Night" and other related songs take it too far. Its Pop, not country. Plain and simple...
Everyone loves doggy footage online. They consistently cause me to grin. BUT the large majority of folks are bit by bit KILLING their pet dogs (without understanding it). The shit which they use in dog food will cause cancer malignancy and tends to make dogs pass away early. I came to understand the difficult way when my pet dog died at 7.
If you have a pet dog and you would like to help save its life and highly-priced veterinary charges then do a search for Double Life Dog Diet (Use Google.)
Maybe he shouldn't be so critical.
I agree that a lot of songs are just recycled, basically every song by Luke Bryan sounds the same and is about the same thing, but just like every genre, there will be people who like the new stuff and people who like the old stuff.
Is one wrong and one right? No, I don't think so.
But there are new artists who stick to classic country, like Zac Brown Band.
And some of the older artists experiment with new things, like Ronnie Dunn's 3 singles.
Is country big enough for both? yeah probably so, But theres no heart and soul left in "new country". Sure its about money, nobody wants to be poor. But when country was country, the songs reflected the everyday working man. Now its all the same songs recycled put to different music. The real joke is when new country folks say they were influenced by say Alan Jackson(who i'm a fan of) and then he turns around and does something like murder on music row telling the new guys they suck.
Song describes my life To the T
No one ever became a singer in the hopes of being poor and having to find a second job to support themselves and their family.
From the very beginning it has been about money, today it's just a little more obvious cause everything any celebrity does in on the web.
I like both George and Alan a lot. Alan Jackson especially (Sorry George!), but I also like a lot of the new artists like Taylor swift.
I think Country is big enough for both eras of music, don't you?
