Jones, George - Too Much Water Lyrics
Well, I've been thinking about you all night long
What you been a doing to me
You told me that you love me, I thought that you loved me
But you never was true to me.
You're wanting me to settle dowm
It too much water run under the bridge
And I'm too mad to come back now.
Well, there's things I've been wanting to tell you
There's a lot of things you need to know
And I don't think I'll wait for a later date
Now's the time to let you know.
'Cause there's been too many nights I've waited at your door
But I got to thinking my ship started sinking
And I thought I'd better swim the sea.
So now my telephones ringing, pretty girls singing
So go ahead and run around
It's just too much water run under the bridge
And I'm too mad to come back now.
Well, there's things I've been wanting to tell you
There's a lot of things you need to know
And I don't think I'll wait for a later date
Now's the time to let you know.
'Cause there's been too many nights I've waited at your door
While you run around on me
But I got to thinking my ship started sinking
And I thought I'd better swim the sea.
So now my telephones ringing, pretty girls singing
So go ahead and run around
It's just too much water run under the bridge
And I'm too mad to come back now.

Jones, George Too Much Water Comments
wow ,,thanks JEAN-LOUIS .. LOVE
Hank Garland played lead guitar on this track,,Also, I have Hank's personal log book that says this song was recorded March 17, 1957,,for Mercury Records.
Great, made me smile.
Written by george jones and sonny james!
This cut was Lloyd Green's FIRST recording session.
Recorded 19 March 1957 Bradley Film & Recording Studio, 804 16th Ave. South, Nashville, TN – George Jones, * & Virginia Spurlock (George Jones [vcl], Virginia Spurlock [duet vcl-1], Hank Garland [gt], Lloyd Green [steel], Tom Pritchard [bass], T. Tommy Cutrer [drums], Shorty Lavender [fiddle], Marvin Hughes [piano] Producer: Pappy Daily)
On the Mercury 45 single it says recorded April 12 1957.
I show no session for George on that date. He did have one on the 23rd.
The flip side is All I Want To Do and it also shows it was recorded on April 12 1957 but that was cut in October 1956 for Starday and released on both Starday and Mercury
+2packs4sure You can certainly hear Lloyd's style in this
Thanks
Those dates on the Mercury-Starday releases were release dates, not recorded dates, so all of these dates do actually line up.
