Jones, George - The Grand Tour Lyrics
Step right up, come on in
If you'd like to take the grand tour
Of a lonely house that once was home sweet home
I have nothing here to sell you,
Just some things that I will tell you
Over there, sits the chair
Where she'd bring the paper to me
And sit down on my knee
And whisper oh, I love you
But now she's gone forever
And this old house will never
Be the same without the love
That we once knew.
Where we'd lay in love together
And Lord knows we had a good thing going here
See her picture on the table
Don't it look like she'd be able
Just to touch me and say good morning dear.
There's her rings, all her things
And her clothes are in the closet
Like she left them
When she tore my world apart.
As you leave you'll see the nursery,
Oh, she left me without mercy
Taking nothing but
Our baby and my heart.
Step right up, come on in...

George always speaks truth. Legend. He was my first concert and I didnt feel him at 9 years old...but boy i appreciate it now at 34. George talks truth.
I sure hope they have real country like George Jones in heaven or I’m not going!!!
Oh yeah daily!
I'm blessed at 37 and was able to sit right in front of him for one of his last concerts he was amazing
One hell of a Country singer!!!!....
George can sing no one else can sings like George sings.
Best quote ever was by Brenda Lee. She said George Jones doesn't sing country songs. George Jones is a country song.
Perfection
Awesome tune ... whispering
I Am Not Moving 😊
Good music . you. Can not mimic this stuff even with the technology today
Listening to this song. And seeing the slideshow of pictures. Makes me miss him so much more.

I'm convinced that George cant be topped.
Beautiful song n beautiful sung
This mans voice can turn the toughest of exteriors into mush. So much emotion, sadness, and passion in that voice. The greatest who ever did it
No one could ever fill his shoes
This is country.
Thumbs up if you hate modern day hick hop bull shit.

*sniff* *sniff* If ever there was a song that made you cry in your beer, this is it.
saddest song ever
I just love George jones
Yes S,A..2019
This song is so awesome
Fucking legend!! 2019 & still relevant. Country music is officially dead these days
I'm about to commit country music blasphemy, but for me, this is a sadder song than "He Stopped Loving Her Today". My interpretation of this song is that it's about a pregnant wife dying, and (IMHO) it's sadder to lose your wife and unborn child than to have an unrequited love.
I believe this interpretation as well. I'm not sure if thats how George interrupted but I can just hear it in his voice.
I'm always here with my Number ! country singer.
george is on his grand tour now RIP the possum.
STEP right up..come on in
Merle, Willie, George, Conway, and Little Joe are Legends.
who here from AUSTRALIA 2019 ??
There was only one George Jones..There will never be another like him.
REALLY? NO WAY!!!
Who will be here 2020?
The best thing i have heard
I'M SO GRATEFUL THAT I HAD 8 TRACK/CASSETS OF THESE SINGERS GROWING UP! THESE ARE MY HERO'S! NOT IN A FATHER SENSE! BUT A HERO IN MUSIC! I REALLY FEEL 50-90 GREATEST COUNTRY EVER! TODAY I TEAR MY EARS OUT! MAKES THEM BLEED!
LEGEND.
feel a little funny admitting this but get a little chocked up when the Possum sings this song
George you’re a legend you and Tammy together forever xx
Did she die giving birth or did she leave him . I always thought she died but I've heard some say she left him
There will never be another as good as George Jones...this is real country💕
George Jones is the greatest of the greatest
All you thumbs down mother fuckers! FUCK OFF!!!
A country monument through his music. Period.
The only true cowboy 🐎
ONE THING ABOUT MUSICIANS I LOVE THEY WILL PROMOTE EACH OTHER! I HAVE NEVER SEEN BAND'S THAT PLAY WITH EACH OTHER DISS THEM IN PRIVATE OR PUBLIC!
IF HE'S IN HELL I WANT IN!
The Great Conway Twitty!
Such A Legend.
This song reminds me of the MS. Velasquez ! Her claudie loved her!
I went and watched the possum live in concert with my grandmother in 2009 with my now 73 year old grandmother for her birthday. We went to the river center in baton rouge la. It's something that to this day its a memeory that I hold to so tightly. We both got to watch the Cadillac voice of country together. I wouldnt trade that memeory or experience for any amount of money. The king is gone but he is always heard.
This has to be in the Top 5 saddest songs of all time.
One great man was nice to have met him
I remember seeing this record as a child when growing up, now I'm 50 and still listening to it.
beautiful song
My dad who was divorced from mom, would pick us up, go to our grandmas, where my uncle's and cousins would all be, I was the bartender and the d.j, for Fri and sat night
Made some good tips for a 10 year old lol
Country Gold...RIP Possum.. Best Male Country Voice EVER..!!!!!
Sad when you search "The Grand Tour" and this doesn't even show in the results.
I'll never forget this song. My dad taught me about Real country music
Ahhhh yes , the Rolls-Royce of country music
There are some early George Jones songs that think it was hank Williams sr
Nobody touches Mr. George Jones. I mean nobody.
Bill Burr brought me here. Didn’t think I’d like country but this is pretty good.
true never be the same
How that's muisc always RIP
My favorite country music artist. Had an 8 track years ago of George singing Hank Williams
this was made for tammy wynatt in case ppl didn't know it
Duh huh
Some claim that this song is NOT about a DIVORCE but is instead about a woman who died in child birth. If you really listen to it, when it gets to the part about the clothes still being in the closet and the nursery I guess then, yes, perhaps they are correct.
I taught my nephew how to sing this song he was 26 when he passed I feel so priverlidged to teach him the song R.I.P Tremaine Mundine xx
STILL the best version
“The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald

This man sings with all of his heart in it.
No other singer has reduced me to a blubbering mess the way George Jones has.
I agree!
No person EVER could make you feel the way George Jones voice does
The king of country music
George Jones is the best!! He was in his prime in the 90s! The golden years!!
We sure miss you George
Amen to that! So grateful I got to see him in concert once. It was few years before he died. You could see his health was failing, s he didn't move around much on stage anymore. But damn, that voice still sounded great.
damn-it boy, powerful.
They don’t make em like they used to..
I can't keep up with the Kardashians, much less George JONES
we miss you George. but your music lives on in our hearts.
My mother loved George Jones. His songs remind me of her. Miss you so much mom. Your with JESUS now. See you someday mom 😓
what ppl don't about this song this is all about him and his wife at the time tamy wynett when they got a devoice .
my fav. song from him
She didn't take her things, so she must have died in childbirth...
He was a good man
