Jones, George - Borrowed Angel Lyrics
Her fingers feel so gentle with her hand in mine
Her hair feels like silk on my arm
Her lips tell me so tenderly she's mine alone
Until we part tonight and she goes home.
I love my borrowed angel, I just can't help myself
That ring upon her finger don't belong to me
But she loves me and I know she'll save
Some borrowed time for me.
I wish that I could have her more than just tonight
We can't go on like this, it isn't right
When that lonesome feelin' comes a-knockin' on my door
I'll call my borrowed angel to ease the pain once more.
I love my borrowed angel, I just can't help myself
That ring upon her finger don't belong to me
But she loves me and I know she'll save
Some borrowed time for me

Beautiful! Another GREAT version of this song is by Moe Pitney Look it up it's VERY good!
I grew up with his music and I still enjoy and love his music Thank you George Jones for all the beautiful music
In his book George said that Mel was there to watch him record this and it brought tears of pride to Mel.
He is the king
Great cover, but Mel Street's original is better.
MY MEMA WROTE THIS SONG! 😭😭
Really, even this can't touch Mel. After all, he did write the song.
These two had a great respect for each other, and Mel sang more like his idol than anyone ever will.
But what isn't so well known is that Mel was severely broken. It was not as was told. "They" knew he needed help as much as two weeks before his suicide. To the posters below, think of what hurts you so much that you feel like dying and you will find what really happened to Mel Street.
graylyns actually, my mema was the one who wrote the song. She told me about it. She said she the story was about how she was in love with this man who took care of her and always helped her when she didn’t have the things she needed in life. They eventually starting dating for a while and one day while they were in a bar, a pregnant woman came in the bar and slapped the man across the face. Turned out that was his wife. That’s when my mema wrote the song and she turned out selling it for $11,000. She was 19 when she sold the song as well. You don’t need to believe me if you want, I’m just saying :/
@PeachyBoi I would like to hear more about this. Than you for your reply.
